CHAUNCEY - Lorena F. "Foney" Russell, 86, of Chauncey, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, at Brookside Rehabilitation Center, The Plains.
Services will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home in Albany. Burial will be in New Marshfield Cemetery.

Lester Culp Sr.
WELLSTON - Lester R. Culp Sr., 61, of Wellston, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, at University Hospital, Columbus.
He was born March 11, 1939, in Columbus, son of the late George and Nellie Brooks Culp. He is survived by a son, Roger Culp Jr.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, 10 a.m., at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, with military services by American Legion Post 371 of Wellston.
Friends may call at McWilliams Funeral Home, Wellston, on Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m., where Rosary will be recited at 8.
Larry Mourn
NELSONVILLE - Larry N. Mourn, 63, of Nelsonville, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus.
He was born Jan. 31, 1937, in New Marshfield, son of the late Clarence and Nellie Smart Mourn. He was a retired machine operator for Columbus Coated Fabrics.
He is survived by his wife, Rita McClain Mourn; a son, Steven "Buzz" Mourn of Columbus; two daughters, Mrs. Mike (Terri) Austin of Columbus and Mrs. Joel (Kathy) Damante of Hilliard; two grandchildren, Andrew and Allison Damante of Hilliard; and a sister, Mrs. Phil (Patty Sue) Walters of Newark.
Services will be held Friday, 1 p.m., at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home in Nelsonville, with the Rev. David Cogar officiating. Burial will be in Connett Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home today, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Karen Steel
WELLSTON - Karen Ann Steel, 59, of South Pennsylvania Avenue, Wellston, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at her home.
She was born May 30, 1941, in Kenton, daughter of Clayton and Thelma Sturgill Jordan of Wellston.
Besides her parents, she is survived by her husband, Harry L. Steel Jr.
A memorial service will be announced by Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel in Wellston.
John Figgins
NELSONVILLE - John A. Figgins, 74, formerly of Nelsonville and Upper Arlington, passed away Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, at First Community Village in Columbus.
John was a World War II Army veteran, and retired after 18 years as an accountant with Ohio State University.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Maud Figgins; brothers Alonzo and Paul Figgins; and sisters Betty Riley and Jane Keating.
John is survived by his brother-in-law, Thomas E. Keating Sr.; a niece, Kay Riley; and nephews Dan Keating and Thomas E. Keating Jr.
Friends may call at Shoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Road in Columbus, on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, 10 a.m., at Northwest Christian Church, 1340 Fishinger Road, Columbus 43221, with the Rev. Paul Lantis officiating.
Interment will be in Union Cemetery in Columbus.

James Bradley
NELSONVILLE - James C. "Jimmy" Bradley, 55, of Nelsonville, passed away Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at Arcadia Acres Nursing Home in Logan.
He was born Jan. 9, 1945, in Logan, son of Thelma D. Moore Bradley of Nelsonville and the late Earl W. Bradley.
In addition to his mother, Jimmy is survived by a brother, Thomas (Geri) Bradley of Buchtel; a sister, JoAnn Gwilym of Nelsonville; nieces and nephews Tammy Hall, Ike Gwilym and Annette Talbert, all of Nelsonville, and Kathy Ruisinger of Houston, Texas; and great-nieces and great-nephews Amanda and Keri Hall, Jason Gwilym, Susan (John) Ruisinger, and Zach, Abbie and Jacob Talbert.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde Bradley and Earl Bradley Jr.; and a brother-in-law, Ike Gwilym.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 1 p.m., at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home in Nelsonville, with Pastor Michael Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville.

Ira Zook
ATHENS - Ira Thomas Zook Jr. of 9755 Bassett Road, Athens, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, in Athens.
He was born Dec. 18, 1934, near La Tour, Mo., son of the late Ira Thomas Sr. and Ethel Detwiler Zook. He married Joan Esch on Aug. 19, 1959.
Zook earned degrees in music from Goshen College in Goshen, Ind., and from the University of Michigan. He devoted his career to vocal teaching, performing and conducting. He served on the faculties of Eastern Mennonite College in Harrisonburg, Va., and Eastern Michigan between 1965 and 1973.
He joined the music faculty at Ohio University in 1973, where he served as director of choral activities, chairman of the voice division, conductor of the Ohio University Singers and Musical Union, and founded the Singing Men of Ohio.
He was a member of Athens First Presbyterian Church, where he conducted the chancel choir for 27 years. He was Buckeye Chapter president of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, and a member of the Music Club of America. He recently was recognized by the governor of Ohio and the Vocal Arts Resource Network for his achievements in the field of vocal music.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; two children, Dr. Katrina Zook of Laramie, Wyo., and Ira Thomas Zook III of New York City; and a sister, Vera Schmucker of Goshen.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a 4-year-old brother, Vernon; an infant brother; and his stepmother, Ruby Martin.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, 6 p.m., at Athens First Presbyterian Church.

Hugh Davis
POMEROY - Hugh H. Davis, Ph.D., 91, of Pomeroy, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at the extended care unit of Veterans Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 18, 1909, in Pomeroy, son of the late John Stanley Davis and Leah Moore Davis. He was a graduate of the Pomeroy High School Class of 1928, was Phi Beta Kappa 1932, graduated from Ohio University in 1932, taught Latin and English at Pomeroy High School 1932-33, was a Teaching Fellow at Indiana University 1933-35, received a masters of arts degree from Indiana University in 1935, was an instructor of classical language at OU 1936-37, was a research assistant in classics at the University of Cincinnati 1937-43, was a special agent for the U.S. Army Counter-Intelligence Corps 1943-47, served in Italy 1944-47; did graduate study at the University of Cincinnati 1948-50; received a Ph.D. in classics from the University of Cincinnati in 1950; was associate professor of classical languages at Fordham University 1950-53; taught at LeMoyne College in Syracuse, N.Y., 1953-78; was named Lifetime Professor Emeritus of Classics at LeMoyne College in 1978.
He was a life member of American Philological Association, The Renaissance Society of America, and Meigs County Pioneer and Historical Society.
He is survived by nieces and nephews, Milton Davis of Gladwin, Mich., Janet Rogan of Zelienople, Pa., Ruthann Davis Bell of Brighton, Mich., and Leah Altmayer of Levittown, N.Y.; grandnieces and grandnephews Debra Downard of Elkton, Susan McDowell of Plano, Texas, Jon Davis of Temperance, Mich., Robert Davis of Elkton, Debra DiBiagio of Monaca, Pa., James Rogan of Erie, Pa., Stewart Altmayer of Slingerlands, N.Y., Lawrence Altmayer of Alexandria, Va., Janet Rodgers of Chevy Chase, Md., and Nancy Broughman of Belpre; and a cousin, Frank Trautman of Parkersburg, W.Va.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers and sisters Milton Davis Sr., Geraldine Young, Lydia Davis and Duane Davis; and nieces Marilyn Rice and Elaine Rodgers.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m., at Beech Grove Cemetery in Pomeroy, with the Rev. Katharin Foster officiating. Military services will be conducted by Feeney Bennett American Legion Post 128.
There will be no calling hours or visitation. Arrangements are by Fisher-Acree Funeral Home in Pomeroy.
Hilda Harris
RACINE - Hilda R. Harris, 89, of Racine, died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis.
She was born Aug. 27, 1911, in Clifton, W.Va., daughter of the late Harry and Lula Hall Harris.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Burns Harris. She is survived by children Jane Huffman and Jill Williams.
Services will be held Saturday, 1 p.m., at Fisher Funeral Home, Middleport. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Pomeroy.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of services. A memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
Helen Carr
NELSONVILLE - Helen Louise Henshaw Carr, 88, of Nelsonville, passed away peacefully in her sleep with her son and daughter-in-law at her side Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at the Traditions at Stygler Road Nursing Home, Gahanna.
She was born May 23, 1912, in Nelsonville, the daughter of the late Walter and Henrietta Simonton McKibben. She was the widow of Everett Carr, and of her first husband, Mervin Henshaw.
She is survived by a son, Robert (Martha) Henshaw of Gahanna; two grandsons, David (Julie) Henshaw of Westerville and Mark (Valerie) Henshaw of Pickerington; four great-grandchildren, Jarred, Matthew, Adam and Rachel Henshaw; and two nieces, Mollie Jane Moellendick of McConnelsville and Sherry Maffin of Nelsonville.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence McKibben; and a sister, Mary Etta Maffin.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, Nelsonville. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville.

Harry Taylor
LOGAN - Harry J. Taylor, 93, of Logan, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at the Hocking Valley Community Hospital, Logan.
He was born March 5, 1907, in Athens County. He was the son of the late Arthur and Amanda Hogue Taylor.
Taylor was the husband of the late Letha Pedigo Taylor. He was a retired coal miner who worked in this area and eastern Ohio.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant child; a sister, Hazel McClelland; and two brothers, Edward and Paul Taylor.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, Nelsonville, with the Rev. Gary Carlson officiating. Burial will be at the Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville.

Gloria Hardman
LOGAN - Gloria M. Hardman, 76, of Logan, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at Logan Health Care Center.
She was born Dec. 25, 1923, in Dayton, daughter of the late Charles and Alice Whitcomb Jones.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Jean Patterson.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas P. Hardman.
Services will be held Thursday, 1 p.m., at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home in Logan. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery.
