Ruth Field
ATHENS - Ruth Graham Field, 88, of Louisville, Ky., died Friday in Louisville.
She was retired head librarian for the University of Louisville cataloging department, and a member of the Kentucky, American and Southeastern Library Associations, Ohio Valley Regional Group of Catalogers, Phi Kappa Phi and Beta Phi Mu.
She is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Field Baxter of Athens; a son, Christopher J. Field of Peoria, Ariz.; a brother, John D. Graham of Thomasville, Ga.; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore E. Field.
Funeral services will be held Friday, 1 p.m., at Pearson Funeral Home, 149 Breckenridge Lane, Louisville. Burial will be in Cave Hill Cemetery, Louisville.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.

Roscoe Hill
EAST SPARTA - Roscoe E. Hill, 73, of East Sparta, died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, at Doctors Hospital, Massillon.
He was born June 5, 1927, in Amesville, son of the late Boyd and Chelsia Mayle Hill.
He is survived by his wife, Luvena Ramsey Hill, and daughters Brenda Toney and Mildred Yarchak.
Services will be held Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Mount Hermon Church. Burial will be in Mount Hermon Cemetery.

Robert Mahle
WELLSTON - Robert E. Mahle, 74, of Wellston, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, at Four Winds Nursing Facility.
He was born Nov. 3, 1926, in Wellston, son of the late Jerome and Eunice Brislin Mahle.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Gay Mahle; and a daughter, Mary Ann Wyant.
Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, 10 a.m., at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Wellston. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Paul Sayre
PORTLAND - Paul W. Sayre, 81, of Portland, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis.
He was born March 9, 1919, in Portland, son of the late Thomas Ewing and Fanny Augusta Salser Sayre.
He is survived by children Paula L. Sayre and Sandra L. Sayre Howard.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean L. Young Sayre.
Services will be held Saturday, 1 p.m., at Racine United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Letart Falls Cemetery.

Pauline Flowers
McCONNELSVILLE - Pauline Sephfus Flowers, 83, of McConnelsville, formerly of the Chesterhill area, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, in an automobile accident near Chesterhill.
She was born July 30, 1917, in Zanesville, daughter of the late John and Emma Mayle Kenned.
She is survived by a son, Bernard "Jim" Sephfus of Amesville.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Howard "Judy" Sephfus and Art Flowers.
Services will be held Friday, 1 p.m., at Bethel Wesleyan Methodist Church near Chesterhill. Burial will be in Mount Hermon Cemetery, Amesville.

Emmitt Taylor
LOGAN - Emmitt E. Taylor, 76, of Logan, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, at Hocking Valley Community Hospital, Logan.
Born Sept. 14, 1924, in Athens County, he was the son of the late John and Neva Blake Taylor. He was employed in building construction.
He is survived by a brother, Roy Taylor of Jackson; two sisters, Ada Gabriel and Clarice Hunter of Athens; several nieces and nephews; and special friends Jean and Marion Sycks and family of Logan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Philmore, Ike and Delmar Taylor; and sisters Nora Dowler and Bessie Rosser.
Funeral services are Saturday at 1 p.m. at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan, with Minister Vernon W. Barrell officiating. Burial will be in Shaw Cemetery, Logan.

Ethel Powell
LOGAN - Ethel M. "Happy" Powell of Logan died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, at Hocking Valley Community Hospital, Logan.
She was born in Hocking County, daughter of the late Ira Sylvester and Kathryn Ellen Lanning Hellyer. She also was preceded in death by two husbands, Fred Wright and Frederick Cecil Powell.
Services will be held Tuesday, 2 p.m., at Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. There will be no calling hours.

Florence Simmons
COOLVILLE - Florence M. Simmons, 83, of Coolville, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, at her residence.
She was born in Decatur Twp., daughter of the late Tom Gorrell and Elsie Finch Gorrell. She was a retired cook for Federal Hocking High School, a member of Torch Baptist Church since 1930, past president of Coolville Senior Citizens and attended Athens Senior Citizens.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Ernest and Rita, and Don and Judy, all of Coolville; three grandchildren, Randy Simmons, Shane Simmons and Toby Newberry; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Gorrell; two sisters, Frances Lutz and Betty Cornell; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Simmons; and two brothers, Howard Gorrell and Omer Gorrell.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 2 p.m., at White Funeral Home, Coolville. Burial will be in Torch Cemetery.

Harold Kennedy
LANCASTER - Harold Ray Kennedy, 66, of Lancaster, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, at his residence.
He was born March 20, 1934, in Thornville, son of the late Ray and Mary Belle Sain Kennedy.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann McLain Kennedy; and a daughter, Anita Kennedy.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, noon, at Elk Cemetery in McArthur, with military services conducted by Vinton County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5299.

James White
ATHENS - James Edgar White, 73, of Athens, died unexpectedly Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at his home.
He was born in Athens on Aug. 13, 1923, son of the late Gamaliel E. and Modelle Rice White. He retired after being the third generation of his family to own and operate Whites Mill.
A 1945 graduate of Athens High School, Mr. White attended Ohio University. He was a World War II Marine Corps veteran of the Asiatic Theater, a member of American Legion K.T. Crossen Post 21, the Ohio Highway Patrol Auxiliary, and Athens Presbyterian Church. He also was a Mason and a Shriner.
He is survived by a daughter, Sara White of Bradenton, Fla.; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Jill White of Athens; grandchildren, Alyson White of Athens, Eli White of Bradenton, and Drew and Tyler White of Athens; a sister, Annabelle (Dr. Ray) Strekel of Athens; a brother, William (Irene) White of LaJolla, Calif.; and a special friend, Betty Dunlevy of Glouster.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Seaman White, in 1991; and a son, Scott Allen White, in 1960.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, Athens, with the Rev. Craig Seitz officiating. Burial will be in West Union Street Cemetery, with military rites conducted by K.T. Crossen Post 21.

Larry Mourn
NELSONVILLE - Larry N. Mourn, 63, of Nelsonville, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus.
He was born Jan. 31, 1937, in New Marshfield, son of the late Clarence and Nellie Smart Mourn. He was a retired machine operator for Columbus Coated Fabrics.
He is survived by his wife, Rita McClain Mourn; a son, Steven "Buzz" Mourn of Columbus; a daughter, Mrs. Joel (Kathy) Damante of Hilliard; two grandchildren, Andrew and Allison Damante of Hilliard; and a sister, Mrs. Phil (Patty Sue) Walters of Newark.
Services will be held Friday, 1 p.m., at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home in Nelsonville, with the Rev. David Cogar officiating. Burial will be in Connett Cemetery.

LOGAN - Leoda Marie Gladman, 70, of Logan, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at Logan Healthcare Center.
She was born Feb. 22, 1930, in Troy, daughter of the late Andrew and Edith Knotter Gladman.
Services will be held Wednesday, 10 a.m., at Roberts Funeral Home, Logan. Burial will be in Honey Creek Cemetery near Christiansburg.
