Philip Schenz
BUCHTEL - Philip David Schenz, 56, of Cape Coral, Fla., formerly of Buchtel, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000, in Cape Coral.
He was born Jan. 29, 1944, in Buchtel, son of Joseph "Dyke" Schenz of Buchtel and the late Phyllis Louise Wend Schenz.
He was employed by Columbus and Southern Ohio Electric Co. at the St. John power plant and most recently worked as a cell phone tower locator. He also was a former employee of the Poston and Conesville power plants, and was an Air Force veteran, a member of Elks Lodge 543 and a 1961 graduate of Buchtel-York High School.
Besides his father, he is survived by a brother, Neal (Helen) Schenz of Nashport; sisters Mrs. Bob (Anita) Reliford, Mrs. Eldon (Joyce) Smart and Judy Thompson, all of Nelsonville; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and his former wife, Diane Handa of Columbus.
Services will be held Sunday, 1 p.m., at Warren-Brown Funeral Home, Nelsonville, with the Rev. Ernie Perkins officiating. Burial will be in Knollwood Cemetery, Logan, with military services conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, 2 to 8 p.m.
Opal Ford
ATHENS - Graveside services for Opal P. Ford, 80, of Athens, will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. at Hooper Ridge Cemetery, Ames Twp., by Pastors James and Carolyn Wolfe. A potluck dinner will be held after services at Hooper Ridge Church of Christ to celebrate her life.
Mrs. Ford died Oct. 22, 2000, at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5812, Athens; American Cancer Society, 138 Marietta Road, Suite D, Chillicothe 45601; or the Athens Cat Shelter, 8500 Hoon Drive, Athens 45701.

Naomi Cone
ATHENS - Naomi Conner Cone, 82, formerly of Route 550 in Athens, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2000, at Hope Hospice, Fort Myers, Fla.
She was born June 8, 1918, in Athens, daughter of the late Fred and Helen Morris Conner.
She is survived by her husband, Fred Cone; and a son, Wayne Cone.
Funeral services and entombment will be held today at Memorial Funeral Home in Fort Myers.
Malcolm Fouts
HAMDEN - Malcolm H. Fouts, 92, of Hamden, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2000, at Four Winds Nursing Facility, Jackson.
Born Jan. 27, 1908, in Speight, Ky., he was the son of the late Jacob E. and Alice Johnson Fouts. He was a carpenter and a member of Bethel Church of Christ.
He is survived by two daughters, Florence (Leo) Fleming and Delcie (Gerald) Ousley of Hamden; four sons, Archie Fouts (Linda Six) of Hamden, Donald (Pat) Fouts of Jackson, Phillip (Dorothy) Fouts of Paintsville, Ky., and Kermit Fouts of Chillicothe; two sisters, Pinea (Turner) Bentley of Eddy, Ky., and Myrtle Johnson of Speight, Ky.; 14 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Stewart Fouts, on June 3, 1992; two sons, four daughters, two grandchildren, one great-grandson and eight brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Garrett Funeral Home, McArthur, with evangelists Ernest Fouts and Patrick Gampp officiating. Burial will be in Elk Cemetery.

Lincoln Smith
POMEROY - Lincoln E. "Gene" Smith, 66, of Pomeroy, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2000, at Holzer Medical Center.
Born June 16, 1934, in Middleport, he was the son of the late Lincoln W. and Hilda Durst Smith.
He is survived by four sons, Timothy, John, Mark and Joseph Smith; and a daughter, Cindy Bayshore.
Graveside funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call at the Fisher Funeral Home in Middleport today from 6 to 8 p.m.
Leslie Dennis
MURRAY CITY - Leslie A. Dennis Sr., 65, of Murray City, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, at Doctors Hospital of Nelsonville.
He was born Aug. 15, 1935, in Rendville, son of the late Henry and Mary Yocum Dennis. He was active in independent church ministry and was semi-retired from Goods Inc. of Athens, where he was a finish carpenter.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Timmons Dennis; sons and daughters-in-law, Leslie Allen Jr. and Jill Dennis of Glouster, Randy and Carolyn Dennis and Todd and Sarissa Dennis of Murray City, Timothy E. and Angie Dennis of Bremen; a daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Jack Seever of Murray City; and nine grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
Services will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Brown Funeral Home in Murray City, with the Rev. Buddy Muncie officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Murray City.

Josephine Crothers
LOGAN - Josephine Ellen Crothers, 89, of Logan, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000, in the skilled nursing unit of Hocking Valley Community Hospital, Logan.
She was born July 15, 1911, in Nelsonville, daughter of the late Hugh Edward and Adda Ceilslie Smart Joy.
She is survived by sons Larry, Jerry, Martin and Earljoy Crothers; and a daughter, Charolette Crothers.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Dale Crothers.
Services will be held Friday, 1 p.m., at Roberts Funeral Home in Logan. Burial will be in New Fairview Memorial Gardens, Good Hope Twp., Hocking County.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of services.
Jerry Ring
WELLSTON - Jerry John Ring, 79, of West First Street, Wellston, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000, at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Cincinnati.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, 10 a.m., at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Wellston. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Wellston, with military services conducted by American Legion Post 371.

James Rider
WELLSTON - James Philip Rider, 53, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Wellston, passed away Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, at his Wellston home at Goldsboro after a year of failing health due to cancer of the throat and tongue.
Jim was born in Columbus on March 17, 1947, to Glenna Warner Rider Souders of Wellston and the late James F. Rider. He was a 1965 graduate of Wellston High School and a Vietnam veteran, having served with the 1st Cavalry Air Mobile Unit at Phan Thiet, Vietnam. Until his illness, he was employed by IKON Product in Phoenix. Jim was baptized into the Independent Calvary Holiness Church.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Sarah Roseberry Rider; children Alan (Nancy) Rowland of Kingston, Ohio, Bethany (Rick) Henry of Dover, Ark., and Stephanie Adams of Phoenix, Ariz; a sister, Anita (Steve) McManus of Wellston; a step-sister, Lynn Souders Romine of Logan; two aunts, Mary Rider and Barbara Rider, both of Wellston; an uncle, Carey King of Wellston; five grandchildren, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Harold "Hebe" Souders, in 1981; grandparents Harry and Dide Henneman Warner and Carl and Mabel Brooks Rider; uncles Floyd Warner, Carl C. Rider, Charles Rider and Bob Rider; and aunts Elizabeth Warner, Eloise King, Helen Warner, Ruth Rider and Mary Jane White.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston, with Pastor Maurice Napper officiating. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery with military graveside services by American Legion Post 371 of Wellston.
Calling hours will be held Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Jacob Kisor
WELLSTON - Jacob J. "Jake" Kisor, 72, of Wellston, died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2000, at University Hospital, Columbus.
He was born Nov. 14, 1928, in Wellston, son of the late Jacob R. and Clara Payne Kisor. He is survived by his wife, Donna Salmans Kisor; a daughter, Patricia; and a son, J.P. Kisor.
Services will be held Sunday, 1 p.m., at McWilliams Funeral Home, Wellston, with the Rev. Steve Cann officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, with military services conducted by American Legion Post 371.

Harlin Daniels
ATHENS - Harlin A. Daniels, 74, of Fort Smith, Ark., died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000.
He was a pharmacist and the owner and operator of Harlin Daniels Pharmacy. He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church in Greenwood, Ark., a Navy veteran of World War II, and past president and life member of the Seratoma Club. He was a former director of Fort Smith Ward 3, a former member of the board of directors of Arkansas Pharmacist Association, and a lay minister.
He is survived by his wife, Doris; a daughter, Angelin Pierce of Fort Smith; sons Tom Daniels of Athens, and Gary and Byron Daniels of Fort Smith; a sister, Omega Bowman of El Paso, Texas; a brother, Arliss Daniels of Fort Smith; grandchildren Melissa Mundy, Shannon, Erica, Chris, Lindsey, Lauren and Shelia Daniels, and Peeper (cq) Pierce; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, 2 p.m., at Oak Cliff Baptist Church. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum, Fort Smith.

Glen Mackie
LANCASTER - Glen R. Mackie, 63, of Lancaster, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000, at his residence.
He was a retired cable repairman with AT&T, and a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He is survived by his wife, Linda Mackie, three daughters, Chris (Mike) Varnell of Lancaster, Jennifer Locke of Columbus and Dana (Brad) Marsh of Amanda; a son, Keith (Cathy) Mackie of Lancaster; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his mother, Gretchen Mackie of Athens; three sisters, Carol (Ray) Kelcher of Las Vegas, Betty (Bruce) Cate of Cincinnati and Judy (Bruce) Bonifield of Morristown; a brother, Buck Mackie of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Mackie. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Frank E. Smith Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Carl Noland officiating. Burial will follow at Stukey Cemetery.

Freda Mayle
AMESVILLE - Freda Ramsey Mayle, 81, of Amesville Route 1, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2000, at Mark Rest Center, McConnelsville.
She was born Feb. 2, 1919, in Cutler, daughter of the late Leslie and Ethel Mayle Ramsey.
She is survived by a daughter, Jeanette Mayle.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Mayle.
Services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., at Mount Hermon Church on Amesville Route 1. Burial will be in Mount Hermon Cemetery.
