Fred Pugh
WELLSTON - Fred S. "Dude" Pugh, 79, of Wellston, died Friday morning, Dec. 8, 2000, at Four Winds Nursing Facility.
He was born Oct. 10, 1921, in Glenroy, son of the late Clifford and Stella Poole Pugh. He was a former employee of Jackson County and the city of Wellston. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a lifetime member of American Legion Post 371 of Wellston, a lifetime member of VFW Post 9893 of Albany and Disabled American Veterans Jackson County Chapter 45, and a member of 40 et 8.
He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Clifford and Cheryl Stansberry Pugh of Wellston, Frederick W. Pugh of Mississippi, and Roger and Cheryl Wells Pugh of Wellston; daughters and a son-in-law, Linda and Dave Roach of Columbus, and Patricia Dempsey of Mississippi; brothers Gerald Pugh of Londonderry, Bob Pugh of Wellston, Dave Pugh of Chillicothe, and Dwight Pugh of Athens; a sister, Wilma Jean Pugh of Athens; as well as eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Walter Dempsey; a grandson, Douglas Pugh; a brother, George Pugh; and sisters Eileen Pugh and Mary Evelyn Climer.
Services will be held Monday, 11 a.m., at McWilliams Funeral Home, with Pastor Danny Minton officiating. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by American Legion Post 371 of Wellston.

Florence Ousley
CREOLA - Florence Hughes Ousley, 61, of Creola, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, at Doctors Hospital North, Columbus.
She was born March 31, 1939, in Dundas and was a daughter of the late Clarence T. and Mary Alzina Brooks Hughes Sr.
She is survived by her husband, Herbert Dale Ousley; and her sons, Clarence Michael, Jerry and Herbert Eugene "Bo" Ousley.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Garrett Funeral Home, McArthur. Burial will be in Elk Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m.
Eugene Goss
LOGAN - Eugene D. Goss, 80, of Logan, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 30, 1920, in Lancaster, son of the late Clyde and Lois Dumm Goss.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Kern Goss.
The funeral service will be private, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Ervin Edwards
ALBANY - Ervin "Jake" Edwards, 76, of Albany, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at Logan Health Care Center.
He was born May 14, 1924, in Chauncey, the son of the late Earl and Letha Gould Edwards.
He was retired from United Mine Workers. He was a former member of the Athens Elks Lodge and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by a daughter, Peggy (Anthony) Dupree of Madison, Ala.; and three grandchildren, Collin, Ryan and Seth Dupree.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosetta F. Edwards, on Nov. 5, 2000; a son, Andrew Edwards; and a sister, Louise Edwards.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 11 a.m. at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens. A military burial service will be conducted by the Athens VFW at Alexander Cemetery.

Enid Cole
MIDDLEPORT - Enid Cole, 57, of 70 N. Second Ave., Middleport, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 14, 1943, daughter of the late Pearl and Ruby Caldwell Cole. She was employed at Arcadia Nursing Center in Coolville as a nurses aide, and was a member of Racine United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Jack Richards of Long Bottom; a brother and sister-in-law, Otis and Annalee Cole; a sister and brother-in-law, Angie and Sonny Miller of Chester, Va.; a sister, Marjorie Mercer of Little Hocking; grandchildren Woody and Jamie Richards, and Janice Richards, all of Long Bottom; five great-grandchildren, Niki and Jake Brannon of Reedsville, Jordin, Brody and Jaylen Richard, all of Long Bottom; an aunt, Helen Geoglein of Pomeroy; special friends Russell Chevront, Minnie and Paul Johnson, Virginia Rowe, Helena Gardner, Waitman Stevens and Donna Jean Whaley Sellers; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Homer, Dwight, Floyd, Bernard, Dorsel and Orville.
Funeral services will be held Friday, 1 p.m., at White Funeral Home in Coolville, with the Rev. Brian Harkness officiating. Burial will be in Success Cemetery in Reedsville.

Edna Life
REEDSVILLE - Edna M. Life, 90, of Reedsville, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, at Rocksprings Rehabilitation Center in Pomeroy.
She was born in Chesterville, W.Va., daughter of the late Charles and Eva Hoover James. She was a member of Chester Nazarene Church.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Patricia Life of Reedsville, and Lyle and Eleanor Life of Vincent; a daughter and son-in-law, Ida and Berl Boggs of Coolville; a son-in-law, Russell Spencer of Pomeroy; a brother, Vernon James of Parkersburg, W.Va.; 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was married Nov. 3, 1928, to the Rev. Edmond Life, who is now deceased.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Juanita Spencer; a daughter and son-in-law, Eva and Robert Zumbach; and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be held Wednesday, 10 a.m., at White Funeral Home in Coolville, with the Rev. Herbert Grate officiating. Burial will be in Coolville Cemetery.

Cloyd Morrison
McARTHUR - Cloyd O. Morrison, 68, of Chillicothe, formerly of McArthur, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at Adena Regional Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 20, 1932, in Lockbourne, son of the late Oscar L. Morrison and Ocie Clary Morrison Newman.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Belle Donahoe Morrison; and sons Randy and Wendell Morrison.
Services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., at Garrett Funeral Home in McArthur. Burial will be in Elk Cemetery.

Charles Wyckoff Sr.
LOGAN - Charles E. Wyckoff Sr., 42, of Logan, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 9, 1958, in Hocking County, son of Leroy Wyckoff of Englewood, Tenn., and the late Dorothy Friley Wyckoff.
He is survived by a son, Charles E. Wyckoff Jr.
Services will be held Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home in Logan. Burial will be in Webb Summit Cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by the Combined Veterans of Hocking County.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m., and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., with an Eagles memorial service to be conducted Tuesday at 7:30.
Charles Emick
LOGAN - Charles Edward Emick, 80, of Logan, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at Logan Healthcare Center.
He was born Sept. 2, 1920, in Nelsonville, son of the late Virgil Edward and Bessie Azbell Emrick.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Flood Emrick of Logan.
Services will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m., at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Logan. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, with military services conducted by the Combined Veterans of Hocking County.
Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until time of services.

Arthur Traugh
NELSONVILLE - Arthur L. Traugh, 70, of Nelsonville, died today, Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at Doctors North Hospital in Columbus.
Born Jan. 15, 1930, in Nelsonville, he was the son of the late Eugene Traugh and Ella Hartman. He was a retired warehouse supervisor for Hocking College, and a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Doradeane Hoffman Traugh; two daughters, Mrs. Dan (Janice) Young of Pickerington and Mellany Dane and fiancé Michael Saluppo of Akron; two grandsons, Danny and Travis Brown of Pickerington; three granddaughters, Kristen Young of Pickerington, Chelsea Dane of Akron and Kylie Dane of Nelsonville; a great-granddaughter, Mikayla Dane of Nelsonville; and a brother, William (Christine) Traugh of Nelsonville.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, and sisters Frieda Covert, Margaret Pritchard and Helen Hartley.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 16, at 1 p.m. at Warren-Brown Funeral Home in Nelsonville with the Rev. Ernie Perkins officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Nelsonville.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Anna North
NELSONVILLE - Anna Marie North, a longtime resident of Nelsonville, died Jan. 27, 2000, in Charlotte, N.C., at the age of 96. A memorial Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Fr. John Mucha this Saturday, 11 a.m., at St. Mary of the Hills Parish Hall on Washington Street in Nelsonville.
Mrs. North was born in Nelsonville of Hiram S. Rosser and Margaret Gilmore Rosser in 1903. She was a graduate of Nelsonville High School and Ohio University, where she received a B.S. in education. She taught briefly before her marriage to Durward A. "D.A." North in 1928; and after moving to Michigan in 1951, she resumed her teaching career. Anna and D.A. retired in 1965 and returned to Nelsonville.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband in 1968; and by her siblings, Margaret McMahon, and Charles, Edward and Floyd Rosser. She is survived by her son, Robert, and his wife, Susan, of Isle of Palms, S.C.; granddaughters Suzanne Picher and Melinda Saylor; grandson Ryan North; and five great-grandchildren.
