Lavada M. Ramsey Mayle

CHESTERHILL -- Lavada M. Ramsey Mayle, 87, of Chesterhill, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at Mark Rest Center in McConnelsville.
Born Aug. 18, 1915, in Lathorpe, she was the daughter of the late John and Lula Mae Mayle Ramsey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Mayle.
She is survived by three sons, Robert, Rick and Gene Mayle; and two daughters, Shelba Mayle and Eloise Norris.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Bethel Wesleyan Methodist Church near Chesterhill.
Calling hours will be Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Stone-Matheny Funeral Home in Chesterhill and one hour prior to the start of the service at the church on Tuesday.
Burial will be in Mount Hermon Cemetery.
Kenneth E. Rockhold
Died: Friday, January 24, 2003
Age: 59
PORTLAND -- Kenneth E. Rockhold, 59, Portland, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg.
Born Nov. 15, 1943 in Reedsville, he was the son of the late Walter and Norma Pifer Rockhold.
Survivors include his wife, Judith; two daughters, Deanna Johnson and Kathy Smith; and three sons, Kenny Rockhold, Tony Rockhold and Ryan Rockhold; a stepson, Gary Holter; a stepdaughter, Rebecca Kern; and a granddaughter raised in his home, Teela Lemley.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Brenda Lemley.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at White Funeral Home in Coolville with burial in Eden Cemetery, Reedsville.
Visitation is today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Neil Hanford Wyatt
Died: Friday, January 24, 2003
Age: 77
GLOUSTER -- Neil Hanford Wyatt, 77, of Glouster, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at Brookside Rehabilitation Center in The Plains.
Born Aug. 16, 1925 in Glouster, he was the son of the late Herman Wyatt and Carol Fulton Wyatt Coey.
Mr. Wyatt was retired from Ohio University as a building maintenance superintendent and was a member of Bishopville Church of Christ.
A World War II Army-Air Force veteran, he was a corporal in the 54th Troop Carrier Wing 5th Air Force.
He is survived by his wife, Pearl Marjorie Raley Wyatt; a son, Timothy Neil Wyatt of Glouster; and a sister, Donna Porter of New Marshfield.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gene and Jack Wyatt.
Private graveside services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. for family members only at Maplewood Cemetery in Glouster, with John Wright officiating.
No calling hours will be observed. Arrangements are by Cardaras Funeral Home in Glouster.
Oscar H. Funk

Age: 92
McARTHUR -- Oscar H. Funk, 92, of McArthur, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at Twin Maples Nursing Home in McArthur.
Born June 16, 1910, in Washington Twp., Hocking County, he was the son of the late David W. and Lulu Clark Funk. He was a member of McArthur United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Florabelle Stone Funk; daughters, Sue (Larry) Zinn of McArthur and Ann Funk of Pickerington; grandchildren, Scott Zinn of Columbus, Julie (Peter) Merritt, Heidi Zinn and Ryan (Melissa) Zinn, all of McArthur; great-grandchildren, Emily Merritt, Josie, Christopher and Thomas Zinn.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl, William and Wayne Funk; a sister, Lucy Nimon; and an infant son.
Services will be held Monday, 1 p.m., at Garrett Funeral Home in McArthur, with the Rev. Walter Goble officiating. Burial will be in Scotts Creek Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Charles Russell Hines

AMESVILLE -- Charles Russell Hines, 91, of Amesville, died Thursday morning, Jan. 23, 2003, at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 9, 1911, in Amesville, he was the son of the late James A. and Bessie C. Anderson Hines. A longtime Ames Twp. resident, he had been employed at F.J. Beasley Wholesale Grocery and retired from Ohio University Physical Plant Maintenance. He attended Federal Valley Church.
He is survived by a sister-in-law, Doris Hines of Athens; a brother-in-law, Bill Kasler of Athens; nephews James (Barbara) Hines, Gary Hines and Pam Hines of Athens and Michael (Kathleen) Hines of Fairborn; and a special friend, Penny Bingman of Amesville.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Kasler Hines, in September 1994; two sisters, Thelma Hines and Carma Linscott; and four brothers, Lee, Otto, William and Wayne Hines.
Services will be held Sunday, 2 p.m., at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, Athens, with the Rev. Edward Jones officiating. Burial will be in Hooper Ridge Cemetery, Ames Twp.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m.

CROOKSVILLE -- June Alden Lanning, 77, of Crooksville, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at her residence.
Born Aug. 28, 1925, in Pittsburg Hollow, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Bertha Martin Hashman.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Linda Hashman of Crooksville; granddaughters Angela (Brent) Cavinee of Roseville, Amanda Storm of Crooksville and Andrea (Matt) McIntyre of Roseville; two great-granddaughters, Hannah Cavinee of Roseville and Audrey Thomas of Crooksville; a great-grandson, Brandon Cavinee of Roseville; and sisters Ilene Douglas of Nelsonville, Virginia Lanning of Carbon Hill, Faye (Homer) Trobridge of Logan, and Myrtle (Lamar) Smith of Norton.
Services will be held Monday, 1 p.m., at Warren-Brown Funeral Home, Nelsonville. Burial will be in Carbon Hill Cemetery.

POMEROY -- Ethel Alberta Newman, 97, of Pomeroy, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at Rocksprings Rehabilitation Center, Pomeroy.
Born Sept. 30, 1905, in West Union, she was the daughter of the late Alen and Evelyn Mae Easter Nichols. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Newman, and children Mary Kathryn Butcher, James Newman, Donald Newman and Barbara Newman.
Services will be Saturday, 3 p.m., at Fisher Funeral Home, Pomeroy. Burial will be in Mound Hill Cemetery, Gallipolis.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday one hour prior to service.
Cecil Gene Atkinson
Died: Wednesday, October 16, 2002
Age: 23
COOLVILLE -- Cecil Gene Atkinson Jr., 23, of Coolville, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 4, 1979, in Fort Wayne, Ind., son of Debra Austin Atkinson and the late Cecil Gene Atkinson Sr. He was self employed.
Besides his mother, he is survived by a stepson, Wesley Shellman; his fiancˇ, Connie Young, who is expecting their child in November; step-father Leland Fultineer; a brother, Michael Atkinson; special aunt and uncle, Sharon and Gerald Robbins; a niece, Tessia McGrath; maternal grandmother Betty Austin; stepsister Karlo Boyd; step-grandmother Norma Jene Fultineer; and special friend Josh Chapman.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Gene Atkinson Sr.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home in Coolville, with Lloyd Middleton officiating.
Burial will be in Coolville Cemetery.
