Born May 5, 1937, in Hocking County, she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Mary Leonard Eby. She is survived by her husband, Leroy Z. Morrison.
Services will be Monday, 11 a.m., at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan. Burial will be in Knollwood Cemetery, Logan.

BREMEN - James Willard Wright Jr., 50, of Bremen, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, at his residence after an extended illness.
Born Jan. 5, 1953, in Columbus, he was the son of James Willard Sr. and Joann Conkey Wright of Columbus.
Services will be Monday, 1 p.m., at Roberts Funeral Home, Logan. Burial will be in Harvey Chapel Church Cemetery.

McARTHUR - Arvie G. Fairchild, 85, of McArthur, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, at her residence.
Born July 20, 1918, in Paintsville, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Sanford and Julie Conley Spradlin.
She is survived by children Julie Crum, Sara Brown, Edna Faye Hayes, Edith Collins, Mary Clark, Wilma Mathews, and Gordon, Charles James, Shannon and Donald Fairfield. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy W. Fairchild.
Services will be held Sunday, 1 p.m., at Garrett Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bell Cemetery.

Died: Friday, August 15, 2003
Age: 69
NELSONVILLE - Richard L. McGathey, 69, of Nelsonville, passed away on Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, at Hocking Valley Community Hospital after an extended illness.
Born Jan. 6, 1934, in Hocking County, he was the son of the late Pearl and Thelma Pauline Miller McGathey. He was married to Judy Windle McGathey of Nelsonville.
He was retired from General Motors, Mansfield Plant, as a tool and die machinist.
In addition to his wife, Judy, he is survived by two sons, Paul (Faith) McGathey of Mansfield and Steven (Tammy) McGathey of Nelsonville; two daughters, Sue Ball of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Gail Hasty of Columbia, S.C.; five grandchildren, Jason, Daniel, Laura and Robin McGathey, and Rhett Hasty; and five brothers, Pearl (Arlene) McGathey of Florida, Bob McGathey of Mansfield, Don McGathey of Nelsonville, Bill (Barb) McGathey of Florida and Wayne (Jay) McGathey of Florida.
Services will be held Tuesday, 1 p.m., at Cardaras Funeral Home, Logan, with the Rev. Filmore Ashcraft officiating. Interment will be in New Fairview Memorial Gardens, Rockbridge.

Age: 83
ATHENS - Hattie L. Swartz, 83, of Athens, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, at Russell’s Nursing Home, Albany.
Born Jan. 5, 1920, in The Plains, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Madgie Robinson Smith. She worked many years for Kimes Convalescent Center, was a former employee of Southern Hotel in Columbus and a foster grandparent. She had many best friends.
She is survived by two daughters, Charlotte (Gene) Estep of Athens and Eileen Rhoades of Athens; 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; a half sister, Joan Hollandsworth of Groveport; and many nieces and nieces.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, George Perry and Ores Swartz, and two grandchildren, Cecilia Rhoades and Joshua Estep.
Services will be held Monday, 11 a.m., at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens, with Jim Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, The Plans.

WELLSTON - Dorcil “Doy” Gene Osborne of Wellston died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, at Holzer Hospital, Gallipolis.
Born April 17, 1934, in Valley Fork, W.Va., he was the son of the late Mack and Rebecca Osborne. He was a retired Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Dixie Woodruff Osborne; a daughter, Pam Perkins; and two sons, Steve and Brendt Osborne. He was preceded in death by a son, Walter “Punkin” Osborne.
Services will be Sunday, 1 p.m., at J.P. Rogers Funeral Home, Wellston. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery.

Joan Antorietto

Age: 91
ATHENS - Joan “Cher” Antorietto, 91, of Athens, passed away early Wednesday morning, Aug. 13, 2003, at Hickory Creek Nursing Center.
Born in Marietta on June 20, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Myriam Johahn Coury. She was a graduate of Athens High School and retired from Ohio University, where she worked in the mail service. She and her late husband, Paul, were former owners and operators of Antorietto’s Confectionery.
Early in life, she was a wedding planner for several years. An author who wrote many books of poetry, she was honored nationally in New York City in 1939 for her achievements as a writer of winning poems. Cher was known by her friends as a most loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.
She is survived by daughters Bernadette Antorietto of Athens and Myriam (Bryon) Kilpatrick of Henderson, Nev.; sons Tom Antorietto of San Diego, Calif., Richard Antorietto of Athens, Jan (Monica) Antorietto of Portland, Ore., and Joseph Antorietto of Dayton; five grandchildren, Thomas (Elizabeth) Antorietto, Scott (Traci) Antorietto and Michael Antorietto, all of San Diego, Sean (Lisa) Kirkpatrick of Irvine, Calif., and Joseph Louis Antorietto of Athens; three great-grandchildren, Joshua Antorietto, Trevor Antorietto and Sierra Antorietto, all of San Diego; sisters Sue Brown of Riverside, Calif., and Mary Robinson of Santa Ana, Calif.; brothers John (Delane) Coury of Anaheim, Calif., Dick (Bonnie) Coury of Lake San Marcos, Calif., and Ron Coury of Santa Ana; and a daughter-in-law, Joyce Antorietto of San Diego.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, in 1998; a son, Louis, in 2002; sisters Rose Adams and Nellie Hall; and brothers Joe and Charlie Coury.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 11 a.m., at Christ the King Catholic Church, conducted by Fr. Martin Holler. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Age: 85
ALBANY - Clyde M. Baxter, 85, of East Clinton Street, Albany, died at Doctors Hospital of Nelsonville on Tuesday evening, Aug. 12, 2003.
Born in Blachley, Ore., on Nov. 18, 1917, he was the son of the late James and Lena Birthissel Baxter. He was a graduate of Olive Orange High School, Tuppers Plains. A retired carpenter, he was a proud 65-year member of Carpenters Union Local 200. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a faithful member of Blackburn Hill Church of Christ, Athens.
He is survived by a son, Gary (Mary Jo) Baxter of Marion; a daughter, Kay (Wayne) Mendenhall of Kenton; a stepson, Neil (Linda) Martin of Albany; a stepdaughter, Dianna (Dave) Hale of Albany; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Homer (Irene) Baxter and John Baxter of Pomeroy.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Hazel VanNest Baxter, in 1997; and by a brother, Norman Baxter, in 2001.
Services will be held Saturday, 1 p.m., at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home, Albany, with John King of Blackburn Hill Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Burson Cemetery, Shade, with graveside military rites conducted by Albany VFW Post 9893.

COOLVILLE - Iris O. Buchanan, 71, of Parkersburg, W.Va., died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2003, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg.
Born March 25, 1927, in Whitesville, Miss., she was the daughter of the late James William and Donna Garey.
She is survived by four daughters, Virginia Walker, Wanda Groce, Mary Grace Swierzynski and Christine Wade; a son, Roy Buchanan Jr.; a sister, Betty Reed; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday, 11 a.m., at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home, Coolville, with the Rev. Robert Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Eden Cemetery, Reedsville.

Age: 76
LANCASTER - Gene Norris, 76, of Lancaster, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2003, at Valley View Nursing Center. He was an employee of Fairfield Industries.
He is survived by his sister, Myrtle Gilkey of New Marshfield; nieces and nephews, and many friends at Rem-Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper and Alma Norris; sisters Ethel Burris, Mary Fuller, Gladys Cain and Wilma Cain Smith; and brothers Corbin and Edward Norris.
Services will be held Friday, 10 a.m., at Frank E. Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Lancaster, with Chaplain Karl Hartmann officiating. Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery at a later date.
