PORTLAND - Clarence Dan Weddle Sr., 87, of Portland, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2003, at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis.
Born Aug. 25, 1915, in East Liverpool, he was the son of the late Dan and Iva Lynch Weddle.
He is survived by children, Clarence Jr. and Joyce Weddle. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Weddle, and a son, Carl Weddle.
Services will be Friday, 10 a.m., at Ewing Funeral Home, Pomeroy. Burial will be in Knobs Cemetery.

Mamie Virginia Headley
Died: Monday, August 11, 2003
Age: 90
REEDSVILLE - Mamie Virginia Headley, 90, of Reedsville, departed this life on Monday, Aug. 11, 2003, at her residence, 50240 Headley Road.
Mamie was born in Wilber, W.Va., to Porter P. Doak and Rosalie Lamb Doak on Nov. 29, 1912. She was a beautician for eight years in Vienna, W.Va. After moving to Reedsville, she worked as a cook for Tuppers Plains Elementary School for 20 years. She retired from the school system.
Mamie was married to Clyde F. Headley for 62 years. They were married in Vienna by the Rev. Whitey Bennett.
Mamie was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde F. Headley; an infant daughter, Sandra Kay Headley; and three sisters, Pearl Mattern and Vonda Mattern, both of Vienna, and Leona Kuntz of South Parkersburg, W.Va.
She is survived by a son, Donald L. Headley and wife, Vivian, of Reedsville, who were also her caregivers; two grandsons, Robert and wife, Maxine Headley, of Reedsville and Michael E. Crites of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and three granddaughters, Melinda Beth Wigal of Belpre, Kelli Lewis of Parkersburg and Kayla R. Postle of Reedsville. She also is survived by three great-grandchildren, Gary L. Vierling, Christopher Wigal and Laurissa McGrew; a niece and a nephew of Parkersburg; and a great-great-grandson, Trey Austin.
Services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home, Coolville, with the Rev. Robert Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Tuppers Plains Christian Cemetery.

LOGAN - Richard D. Wilson, 77, of Canal Winchester, died Thursday, July 10, 2003, in Lancaster.
Born May 24, 1926, in Columbus, he was the son of the late George and Gertrude Frizby Wilson.
Services will be Tuesday, 10 a.m., at Union Cemetery, Columbus. Arrangements are by Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan.
Alan B. Davis

McARTHUR - Alan B. “Oop” Davis, 52, of McArthur, died Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at Hocking Valley Community Hospital, Logan.
Born in Athens, he was the son of Arlene Rosser Ward of Hamden and the late William M. Davis. He was an employee of Logan Clay Products for more than 30 years and a graduate of Vinton County High School.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Barbara J. Nixon Davis; a son, Brent Davis of the home; a stepson, Mike Pfau of Fairfield; a brother, Evan (Anita) Davis of Marion; and nephews Tim (Jackie) Davis and Scott (Angela) Davis, both of Marion.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Harold Ward.
Services will be held Saturday, 1 p.m., at Garrett Funeral Home, McArthur, with the Rev. Don Lamb officiating. Burial will be in Elk Cemetery.

John W. Burchfield

NELSONVILLE - John W. Burchfield, 62, of Nelsonville, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at his residence.
Born July 8, 1941, in Nelsonville, he was the son of Eileen Bumgardner Burchfield of Nelsonville and the late Dale Burchfield. He was married to Mary Harvey Burchfield of Nelsonville. He was a superintendent for Maiden and Jenkins Construction Co. for many years.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a son, Tony (Faith) Burchfield of The Plains; two daughters, Leah (David) Navarro of Bidwell and Molly (Randy) Woolum of The Plains; nine grandchildren, Joshua Frost, Eli and Ethan Burchfield, Abby Fox, Chelsey Mender, and Sarah, Corey, Jessica and Hannah Woolum; a great-granddaughter, Aubrey “Boo” Thompson; a brother, Max (Carolyn) Burchfield of Chapin, S.C.; and a nephew and niece, Matthew and Stephanie Burchfield, both of South Carolina.
Besides his father, John was preceded in death by his father- and mother-in-law, Jack and Faye Slater.
Services will be held Sunday, 2 p.m., at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, Nelsonville, with the Rev. Dave Cogar officiating. Interment will be in Connett Cemetery, Nelsonville.

Born Aug. 10, 1957, in Wellston, he was the son of the late Millard and Nancy Mathews Henry. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines.
He is survived by a son, Jerry Henry Jr, and a daughter, Jennifer Vititoe.
Services will be Monday, 11 a.m., at J.P. Rogers Funeral Home, Wellston. Burial with military services will be in Ridgewood Cemetery.

Born March 29, 1953, in Glouster, he was the son of the late Mahlon E. Sr. and Ada A. Green Spears. He was a member of Oakdale House of Prayer in Jesus Name.
He is survived by his wife, Mae Losey; children Jennifer (Mark) Barnhart, Jarrod (Trish) Losey, Robbie Spears, Kevin Thompson, Eric (Dawn) Losey and Susan Spears of Glouster, Laura (Lennie) Spears of Oakdale and Ricky (Amy) Losey of Shade; 16 grandchildren; a sister, Donna Hoppstetter of Glouster; and brothers Dick (Alvira) Spears of Chauncey, Mahlon (Betty) Spears Jr. of Glouster and Ronald Spears of Oakdale.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Raymond Spears Jr.
Services will be held Friday, 1 p.m., at Oakdale House of Prayer in Jesus Name, with the Rev. Roy Burnside officiating. Burial will be in Hilltop Cemetery, Millfield.

Marie Louise Beckrest

Age: 80
SHADE - Marie Louise Beckrest, 80, of Shade, passed away on Sunday afternoon, July 6, 2003, at Doctors Hospital of Nelsonville.
Born Jan. 18, 1923, in Newburgh, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Christian and Eline Sorensen Theuson. She was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy High School, New York.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Demaris Beckrest and Gary Walaszewski of Cleveland; sons and daughters-in-law Dana Beckrest and Susan Abramoditz of Shade, and Dudley and Mary Beckrest of North Olmsted; six grandchildren; sisters, Thora Zimmerman of New Windsor, N.Y., and Alice Olympia of Edgewater, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Olive Theuson of Hemet, Calif.; and a brother, Mark Theuson of Hemet.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, in 1996; and a brother, Henrik Theuson.
A memorial service will be held on a date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Audubon Society, Department W, 700 Broadway, New York, N.Y. 1003.
