AMESVILLE - Randall “Randy” Craig McKinley, 50, of Amesville, died late Saturday evening, July 26, 2003, at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital, as the result of auto accident.
Born July 21, 1953, in Athens, he was the son of Ralph L. “Jerry” and Esther Ross McKinley of Amesville. He was a retired coal miner for Meigs Mine No. 2 and a 1971 graduate of Federal Hocking High School. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the Army. He was a member of Athens VFW Post 3477 and Hooper Ridge Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Deana Gaskalla McKinley; daughters Brianna McKinley of Cincinnati and BryLee McKinley of Amesville; sons Ryan Lee McKinley of Columbus, and Bryce and Graham McKinley, both of Amesville; grandchildren Teagan McKinley of Nelsonville and Skye McKinley of Cleveland; and brothers Steve (Kim) McKinley and Tim McKinley, both of Athens.
Services will be held Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, Athens, conducted by Pastor Rodger Powell. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Athens VFW Post 2377 and K.T. Crossen American Legion Post 21 will conduct military rites at the funeral home.
Laura Margaret Arthur
Died: Saturday, July 26, 2003
Age: 81
WELLSTON - Laura Margaret Arthur, 81, of Wellston, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2003, at Edgewood Manor Nursing Facility, Wellston.
Born in Wellston on Nov. 28, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Bernard Joseph Coyle and Elsie Mae Workman Coyle.
Mrs. Arthur, along with her husband, the late Cecil S. Arthur, was founder and owner of the Sands Hill Coal Company. Following her husband’s illness, she served as president of the business for several years.
She was a 1939 graduate of Wellston High School, a member of the Hope United Methodist Church where she belonged to the Wibbler Class, a member of the Wellston Historical Society and was a former Cub Scout Den Mother.
She is survived by daughters and son-in-law Brenda Weber of Jackson and Bonny and Jack Huffman of Wellston; son and daughter-in-law Alan and Becky Arthur of Wellston; grandchildren Sean Weber of New York, Shannon Weber of Wellston, Sasha and Steve Kuntz of Virginia, Shalyn Weber, Erin Huffman, Juile Huffman, Austin Arthur, Jack Arthur and Grant Arthur, all of Wellston; niece Patty Coyle and nephew Doug Coyle, both of Michigan.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son and a brother, Bernard K. Coyle.
Calling hours will be held today from 4 to 8 p.m. at McWilliams Funeral Home, Wellston. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at McWilliams Funeral Home, Wellston, with the Rev. Glen Herman officiating. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to Hope United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 620, Wellston, Ohio 45692. Funeral services are under the direction of McWilliams Funeral Home.
Robert Kenneth Weyand

Age: 73
RADCLIFF - Robert Kenneth Weyand, 73, of Radcliff, died Friday, July 25, 2003, at his residence.
Born April 27, 1930, he was the son of the late Frank A. and Biola McGlothin Weyand.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Morris Weyand; and a son, Rick Weyand.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Garrett Funeral Home, McArthur. Burial will be in Elk Cemetery with military graveside services by Vinton County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5299. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 4 to 8 p.m.

RACINE - Paul S. Moore, 82, of Racine, died Friday, July 25, 2003, at Overbrook Center, Middleport.
Born Dec. 22, 1920, in Delaware, he was the son of the late Dana and Catherine Smith Moore.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 .m. at the Carmel United Methodist Church, Racine. Burial will be in Carmel Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Cremeens Funeral Home, Racine.
Virginia L. Campbell
Died: Thursday, July 24, 2003
Age: 88
GUYSVILLE - Virginia L. (Kim) Campbell, 88, a longtime resident of Guysville, died Thursday, July 24, 2003, at the home of her youngest daughter, Lillian and Nicholas A. Basso of Clintonville.
She suffered a brief illness.
Widely known in the area as a license practicing nurse at Sheltering Arms Hospital and O’Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens, she served as Past Worthy Matron, Order Eastern Star, Guysville.
She is survived by her son, Marion Edward (Florence Carey) of Marietta; daughters Rosalie Jeannine (Bruce) Humphrey of Newark and Lillian (Nicholas) Basso of Columbus; five granddaughters; two grandsons; and one great granddaughter; a brother, Red Filinger of Boston, Mass.; brothers-in-law Michael Keating of Huntington, W.Va., and Bob Kim of Alpine, Texas; and special friend, Leona Timblin of Guysville.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Dwight Matlack Kim in 1964; and in 1998 following a marriage of 26 years to husband A. Donald Campbell, a former state representative from Athens County.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 700 High St., Worthington. Graveside services and interment will be held Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at Tupper’s Plains Christian Church Cemetery, Tuppers Plains.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 879 Michigan Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43215-1165, or Mt. Carmel Hospice, 793 W. State St., Columbus, Ohio 43222.

CHESHIRE - Charles W. Frazier, 79, of Cheshire, died Thursday, July 24, 2003, at Rocksprings Rehabilitation Center in Pomeroy.
Born Oct. 24, 1923, in Gallia County, he was the son of the late William and Helen Rupe Frazier.
Graveside services will be held Monday, 11 a.m., at Gravel Hill Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.

John James Roberts

NEW STRAITSVILLE - John James Roberts, 43, of New Straitsville, died Thursday, July 24, 2003, in Logan.
Born Oct. 17, 1959, in Nelsonville, he was the son of John A. Roberts and the late Sandy L. Barnes Roberts.
Besides his father, he is survived by his wife, Becky A. Hart Roberts; a son, John Allen Roberts; daughters, Misty Dawn Roberts and Alice Roberts; and stepsons, Jason Curtis, Geoffrey Scott and Timothy Raymond Graves.
Services will be held Tuesday, 1 p.m., at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Burial will be in New Straitsville Cemetery at a later date.
Virginia Io Cline
Died: Thursday, July 24, 2003
WELLSTON - Virginia Io “Sis” Cline, formerly Virginia McPheters and Virginia Writesel, left us here and went to her home higher up, as promised to her by her Lord Jesus.
Born May 17, 1949, in Wellston, she was the special daughter of Henry H. and Betty J. Cline.
Along with her parents, Sis leaves behind her loving brothers, Larry (Vicki), Roger (Barb), Dale (Debbie), John (Carmen) and Gary (Kathy); her loving children and grandchildren, including son Tim (Tammy) Jonathan McPheters, daughter Holly Ann (Bret), Krista, Shi Ann and Kegan Merrill, all “the apple of her eye.”
At home, comforting Sis in her last hours, were her immediate family and Harold Writesel with his children, Jason, Jessica, Melissa and David; her much-loved cousin, Danny (Charlotte) Baumann; and Harold’s sister, Bev Writesel.
She will be cremated by J.P. Rogers Funeral Home, and a private ceremony for immediate family and friends will be held at a later date.
Sis’s family would like to extend a special thanks to all who sent cards, flowers, food and prayers; and a very special thanks to Pastors Butch Deer and Rob Ervin.
Michael T. Horodyski

ATHENS - Michael T. Horodyski, 94, of Athens, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at Kimes Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born April 25, 1909, in Poland, he was the son of the late Anthony and Mary Horodyski. He was a machinist and a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He resided in Boonton, N.J. for most of his life and was a long-time member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by a son, Frank Horodyski of Athens; and a granddaughter, Laura Horodyski of Athens.
He was preceeded in death by his wife of 62 years, Frances Horodyski; a son, Robert; three brothers, Frank, John and Joseph; and a sister, Mary.
Services will be held Monday at Lewis and Carey Funeral Home in Boonton, N.J.
Mabel W. Jones

WELLSTON - Mabel W. Jones, 87, of Wellston, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at Four Winds Nursing Facility.
Born Sept. 16, 1915, in Wellston, she was the daughter of the late Bert and Minnie Pilcher Waugh.
She is survived by three daughters, Betty Hankinson, Carolyn Clark and Pauline Swan.
Services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m., at Jenkins Funeral Chapel in Wellston. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery, Wellston.

Marcia Mae Myers Denison

Age: 94
RUTLAND - Marcia Mae Myers Denison, 94, of Rutland, died Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at her home.
Born Feb. 25, 1909, in Pomeroy, she was the second of six children of the late Lee and Lucille Grueser Myers. Marcia was a graduate of the Rutland High School Class of 1926, and lived most of her life in the Rutland community. She was active in Rutland Garden Club and Rutland Methodist Church for more than 50 years. At the church, she had been a member of the choir, served as church treasurer, was a member of the WSCS, was a Sunday school teacher for preschools and was church organist for more than 50 years.
She was preceded in death by Carl, her husband of 60 years; and by her two sisters and three brothers.
She is survived by her sons, Bob (Virginia) and Jack; seven grandchildren, Jeff Denison, Eric (Laurie) Denison, Greg (Pat) Denison, Kelly (Tony) Davis, Rod (Kathy) Denison, Mark Denison and Kevin Denison; eight great-grandchildren, Jamie, Julia, Madeliene, Alex, Kara and Sophia Denison, Corrinne and Evan Davis; and her “honorary” family, Dennis, Paula, Brandy, Josh and Caleb Stanley.
She was a much beloved and admired wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
You are invited to attend a memorial service for Marcia on Sunday, at 2 p.m., at Rutland Methodist Church.

Born Oct. 9, 1948, in Logan, he was the son of Lois J. Harris Hopstetter and the late Donald D. “Rink” Hopstetter.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Powers Hopstetter; and a daughter, Jacqueline Hopstetter.
