John Goss
Died: Saturday, February 16, 2002
LANCASTER -- John E. Goss, 82, of Lancaster, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster.
Born Jan. 24, 1920, in Hocking County, he was the son of the late Willie and Della Dupler Goss.
He was married to Ruth E. Chambers Goss of Lancaster.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Cardaras Funeral Home, Logan, with pastor Ernie Hammond officiating. Interment will be in Betzer Cemetery, Carroll.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Lynne Goddard
Died: Friday, February 15, 2002
ATHENS -- Lynne C. Goddard, 53, of 43 First St., Athens, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, following a long illness.
Born in England on Oct. 5, 1948, Lynne had lived in Athens for the last several years.
She is survived by her brothers, Martin Goddard and Mark Goddard of Hereford, England.
A memorial service to celebrate Lynne's life will be announced at a later date.

Jenessa Paton
Died: Wednesday, February 13, 2002
LOGAN -- Jenessa Rhiann Paton, 17-day-old daughter of Steven Carl and Donna Louise Paton of Columbus, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at Children's Hospital in Westerville. She was born Jan. 27, 2002, in Westerville.
Services will be held Saturday, 2 p.m., at Roberts Funeral Home in Logan. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
Dale Hudnall
Died: Friday, February 1, 2002
POMEROY -- Dale D. Hudnall, 71, of Route 682, Pomeroy, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002 at Holzer Medical Center emergency room.
Born April 9, 1930 in Athens County, he was the son of the late Charlie and Ortha Chaney Hudnall. He was a former foundry maintenance worker in Delaware and an Army veteran.
He is survived by two children; a sister, Nora Faye Carsey; two half brothers, Tom and Lloyd Hudnall; three half sisters, Luetta Kish, Evelyn Starcher, and Belva Leach; a stepmother, Marie Hudnall; and special friends Doug and Madolyn Carr and daughter Jessica.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, four brothers, and a son.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home, with Pastor Bob Morgans officiating. Burial will be in Hanning Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
David Zinn
Died: Friday, February 1, 2002
JACKSON -- David W. Zinn, 96, of Pattonsville Road, Jackson, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002 at Heartland of Jackson.
Born May 5, 1905, in Jackson, he was the son of the late Edward B. and Lou Ellen Coon Zinn.
He is survived by his children, Walter Zinn, Charles Zinn, Forrest Zinn, Richard Zinn, Patricia Bailey, Marilyn Hill, and Myra Webb.
Funeral services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Jenkins Funeral Chapel in Wellston. Burial will be in Pattonsville Community Cemetery.
Calling hours are today from 2 to 8 p.m. at Jenkins Chapel.
Grace East
Died: Thursday, January 31, 2002
ALBANY -- Grace L. Mitzi East, 63, of Albany, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at Hickory Creek Nursing Center in The Plains.
Born Dec. 1, 1938, in Columbus, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Vivian Rife Kendall. She and her husband owned Dick's Grocery on Union Ridge for more than 27 years.
She is survived by a son, Bobby East; daughters, Lynn Camp and Tami (Brent) Bay; and a daughter-in-law, Rashuana East, all of Albany; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Dick East, on March 14, 2000; two sons, Richard Lee and Gary Thomas East; a great-grandson, Ethyn Michael Gross; a brother, Tom Kendall; and a sister, Diane Kendall.
Services will be held Sunday, 1 p.m., at Garrett Funeral Home, McArthur, with the Rev. Marvin Markin officiating. Burial will be in Bean Hill Cemetery.

William Taylor Sr.
Died: Thursday, January 31, 2002
REEDSVILLE -- William Arthur Taylor Sr., 59, of Curtis Hollow Road, Reedsville, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at his residence.
Born April 28, 1942, in Long Bottom, he was the son of the late Izaak Arthur and Linnie May James Taylor.
He is survived by children Amy Hein, William Arthur Taylor Jr., Clark Taylor and Ronnie Taylor.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Jean Taylor.
Services will be held Saturday, 1 p.m., at Ewing Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bald Knobs Cemetery.

Virginia Hoskins
Died: Wednesday, January 30, 2002
ATHENS -- Virginia Segar Hoskins, 98, a resident of Westminster-Canterbury in Richmond, Va., for the past two decades, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, of complications following a hip fracture.
She was the widow of Dr. Charles Roy Hoskins, and the daughter of the late Richard Beverley Segar and Harriett Chowning Segar of Saluda, Va.
Mrs. Hoskins was raised in Saluda, educated in Farmville, Va., and taught elementary school in Newport News, Va. She married and lived for three decades in Athens. After retirement, they returned to Saluda and lived in the home built by her father. She was a member of Gloucester First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by two children, Charles Roy Hoskins of Roanoke, Va., and Beverly Hoskins Sachs of Moneta, Va.; four married grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m., at Christ Church Cemetery, Christchurch, Middlesex County, Va.
Memorial gifts may be made to a favorite charity.

Merlin Lee
Died: Wednesday, January 30, 2002
McARTHUR -- Merlin M. Lee, 86, of McArthur, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, at Twin Maples Nursing Home in McArthur.
Born April 4, 1915, in McArthur, he was the son of the late Clyde T. and Ora Wharton Lee. He was a truck driver for Austin Powder Co. and and Elk Twp., and was a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church and McArthur FOE 2279.
He is survived by a sister, Mildred L. Kirby Marison of McArthur; a niece, Jeanie (Tom) Harris of Travelers Rest, S.C.; and special friends Glenna Baker, Mick and Kathy McDonald, all of McArthur.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ghearing Lee, on Nov. 24, 1979.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, 2 p.m., at Garrett Funeral Home in McArthur, with the Rev. Fr. David Gwinner officiating. Burial will be in Elk Cemetery.

Mary Ragan

WELLSTON -- Mary E. Ragan, 61, a former resident of Wellston, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, at Holzer Medical Center in Jackson.
Born Aug. 31, 1940, in Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late George and Anna DeBoard Kinder.
She is survived by a daughter, Pam Lindamond.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Ragan; and a daughter, Connie Ragan.
Services will be held Saturday, 1 p.m., at McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery.
