LOGAN - Floyd N. Hiles, 90, of Logan, died Thursday, July 3, 2003, in Logan.
Born Feb. 21, 1913, in Logan, he was the son of the late John V. and Margaret K. Moser Hiles. He is survived by his wife, Marcella “Sally” Hiles; sons Gary and Jeffrey Hiles; and a daughter, Jennifer Gompf.
Services will be Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home. Logan. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, with military rites by the Combined Veterans of Hocking County.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Marcella Maxine Steward
Died: Tuesday, June 17, 2003
Age: 89
ATHENS - Marcella Maxine Steward, 89, of Athens, passed away early Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at Hickory Creek Nursing Center, The Plains.
Born Oct. 10, 1913, in Nelsonville, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Mamie Ward Henry. A 1933 graduate of Athens High School, she married her husband, Kenneth, on June 9, 1934. He is now deceased.
She was a charter member of the Emblem Club and AFAN, a member of K.T. Crossen Post 21 Women’s Auxiliary and Athens First Christian Church, and was an avid artist and crafter.
She is survived by a daughter, Joy (the Rev. Larry) Scriven of Springfield, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Virginia “Ginny” Steward of Athens; grandchildren Denise Slagle and Margery Patterson of Springfield, Mo., Steve Steward of Athens and Amy Pretzer of Orlando, Fla.; and great-grandchildren T.J. Jackson of Anderson, Mo., Kristal Downing of Sedalia, Mo., and Kurt Downing of Springfield, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, in 1996; a son, Jerry Lee Steward, in 2001; a granddaughter, Jennifer Scriven Jackson; a sister, Juanita King; and a brother, Lowell Henry.
Services will be held Friday, 10 a.m., at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, Athens, conducted by Pastor Joseph L. Eubanks Jr. Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery.

Edward L. Matheny
Died: Tuesday, June 17, 2003
Age: 62
CHAUNCEY - Edward L. Matheny, 62, of New Port Richey, Fla., passed away early Tuesday morning, June 17, 2003.
Born in Chauncey on May 6, 1941, he was the son of the late Edward and Beatrice Rife Matheny. He was a former resident of Chauncey and Lancaster prior to moving to Florida. He was a member of Free & Accepted Masons Star Lodge 78 of Largo, Fla.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Sheila F. Matheny; two daughters, Lora L. Adamovich and Tammy L. Cobelo; grandchildren Vincent E. Cobelo, age 21; Spencer L. Cobelo, 13; Kirsten L. Adamovich, 9; and John E. Adamovich, 5; a sister, Madeline M. Kish of Chauncey; a brother, Charles Robert Matheny of Chauncey; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Beatrice Lanning, and a brother, John Matheny.
A graveside service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Alexander Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Steve Bentley.
Friends may call at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, Athens, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where Masonic Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. by Trimble Lodge 557 F&AM.

Wyatt E. Robinson

Age: 43
NEW MARSHFIELD - Wyatt E. Robinson, 43, of New Marshfield, died Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at Grant Medical Center, Columbus, due to injuries received on Jan. 6 after falling from a tree.
Born Jan. 14, 1960, in Athens, he was the son of Alice C. Leedy Cheaton (Charles) and the late Alva C. Robinson. Wyatt Robinson worked as a tree serviceman in Athens for Bob Smart.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Linda Hall; their daughter and son, Terry Lynn Robinson and Bubby Robinson; and 11 brothers and sisters, Larry Robinson, Mary Robinson, Pat Robinson, Kim Aeiker, Marilyn Aeiker, Roy Robinson, A.C. Robinson, John Robinson, Jackie Robinson, Liz Robinson and Kathy Robinson.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by a son, Clinton Anthony Robinson.
Services will be held Friday, 1 p.m., at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens, with John Elswick officiating. Burial will be in Graham Chapel Cemetery.

Victor Nelson

Age: 80
NELSONVILLE - The Rev. Victor Nelson, 80, of Nelsonville, died Monday, June 16, 2003, at Grant Medical Center, Columbus.
Born Sept. 23, 1922, in Zanesville, he was the son of the late Arthur and Nettie Nelson.
He is survived by two sons, Benjamin Victor (Linda) Nelson of Chauncey and Timothy (Libby) Nelson of Nelsonville; a grandson, Kelly Victor (Wendy) Nelson of Glouster; a great-granddaughter; and a very special friend, Ted Dexter, and family of Rutland.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Nelson, on Nov. 16, 2000; and a sister, Betty Jean.
Graveside services will be held Friday, 11 a.m., at Carbon Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. James R. Mathias officiating.

RACINE - Marie V. Roberts, 85, of Racine, died Monday, June 16, 2003, at Overbrook Center, Middleport.
Born Nov. 22, 1917, in Graham Station, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Everett and Mary Poole Elliott. She is survived by a daughter, Audelle McCain, and a son, Randall L. Roberts. She was preceded in death by her husband, George G. Roberts.
Services will be held Friday, 1 p.m., at Cremeens Funeral Home. Burial will be in Chester Cemetery.

Grace L. McNabb Ailes

Age: 84
CARBON HILL - Grace L. McNabb Ailes, 84, died Monday, June 16, 2003, at Friendship Village of Columbus.
Born in Carbon Hill, she was a retired employee of Ranco Inc. She was a member of North Church of Christ in Christian Union, where she belonged to the sewing group. She was a volunteer with the Columbus Literacy Council.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard C. Ailes.
She is survived by daughters Joyce C. Schatz and Janis (Bill) Harris; grandchildren Heather (Eric) Bishoff, Courtney (Frank) Bearss, Christopher (Tia) Harris, and Laura and Julie Schatz; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles E. McNabb; half brothers Jack (Pat) McNabb and Harley (Bonnie) McNabb; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at Southwick-Good Funeral Chapel, 3100 N. High St., Columbus, with Dr. R.L. Sayre officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery.

WELLSTON - Edgar L. Long, 79, of Wellston, died Monday morning, June 16, 2003, at his residence.
Born March 8, 1924, in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Glen and Lillian Waldron Long. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Ada Fout Long; a son, Robert Long; and daughters Barbara Reynolds and Billie Jo Pittman.
Services will be Thursday, 2 p.m., at McWilliams Funeral Home, Wellston. Burial will be in Hamden Cemetery, with military services by American Legion Post 371 of Wellston.

HAMDEN - Deborah Elaine Worrix, 31, of Hamden, died Monday, June 16, 2003, at University Hospital, Columbus.
Born May 27, 1972, in Gallipolis, she was the daughter of Donnie L. and Gail Waldron Worrix of Hamden. She was a 1990 graduate of Vinton County High School.
She is survived by a special sister, Radonna Worrix of Hamden; her grandmother, Maggie Waldron; and a great-aunt, Elfie Worrix, both of Hamden.
Services will be held Thursday, 1 p.m., at Garrett Funeral Home, McArthur. Burial will be in Hamden Cemetery.
