McARTHUR - Elizabeth Ann Searls Karns, 64, of McArthur, died Friday, June 6, 2003, at Hocking Valley Community Hospital, Logan.
Born Jan. 19, 1939, in Pomeroy, she was raised by Harold Wolfe of Creola and the late Nellie Hewitt Wolfe. She is survived by her husband, Richard Karns, and children Steven Karns, Anna Scarberry and Kayla Karns.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Garrett Funeral Home, McArthur. Buriel will be in Creola Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Alice B. Cornell
Died: Saturday, August 30, 2003
Age: 80
ATHENS - Alice B. Cornell, 80, of Athens, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003, at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital.
Born March 12, 1923, in Athens, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Bertha Jane Moore Moore. Alice was a loving and caring person who volunteered in area nursing homes for many years.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Alfred Cornell; a son, John Cornell of Athens; two brothers, Daniel Moore and Kenneth (Karen) Moore, both of Nelsonville; and three sisters, Ruther Kepler of Orrville, Jean Skivers of Nelsonville and Joan (Keith) Palmer of Athens.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Paul Cornell; a brother, Clyde Moore; and a sister, Dorothy Johnson.
Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, 1 p.m., at New Marshfield Cemetery with Bill O’Brien officiating.
Friends may call at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens, Wednesday from 11a.m. until departure for services.
Donna Fancher
Died: Friday, August 29, 2003
Age: 88
COSHOCTON - Donna Fancher, 88, of 1500 Grant Ave., Coshocton, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2003, at her residence.
Born July 23, 1915, in Ligon, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Eveline Reynolds Slone. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by a son, Leon (Carolyn) Henson of Newcomerstown; daughters Lucille (Charles) McBride and Pat McCarty of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Mary Sue (Kenneth) Wise of Logan; 16 grandchildren and seven stepgrandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Oma Fugate of Henderson, N.C.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Fancher, in 1991; three daughters, two sisters, a half brother and a half sister.
Services were held Monday at Given-Dawson Funeral Home, Coshocton. Burial was today in Athens Memory Gardens.
Daniel Anthony Marcum II

Age: 16
ATHENS - Daniel Anthony Marcum II, 16, of Athens, went to be with the Lord Friday, Aug. 29, 2003.
Born Nov. 28, 1986, in Huntington, W.Va., he was the son of Daniel A. Marcum of Athens and Loretta Farley Marcum of Huntington.
He was a student at Athens High School where he was a member of the Athens High School Marching Band for three years and a member of the high school Concert Band in which he played the tuba. He was also pursuing a pilot’s certificate at the Ohio University Airport.
Besides his parents, he is survived by a brother, Christopher Stephen Marcum of Athens; paternal grandfather, Everett Marcum of Huntington; maternal grandparents, Acie and Tennessee Farley of Barboursville; his stepmother, Kristina Marcum of Athens; stepgrandparents, George and Rose Hawkins of Fayetteville, W.Va.; maternal great-grandmother, Lucinda Lester; an uncle, Pat Marcum, and his wife, Davana; aunts Lorraine Owens and her husband, Miles Owens III, and Lovevona Eaves and her husband, Robert; cousin, Lovevona Mae Runyon, and her husband, Scott; and a host of family, friends and classmates.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Pauline Marcum.
Services will be held Wednesday, 1 p.m. at Kellogg Holiness Church of God, of which he was a member. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Kenova W.Va.
Friends may call at the Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, Athens, Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. and at Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, W.Va., Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Donna Fancher

COSHOCTON - Donna Fancher, 88, of Coshocton, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2003, at her residence.

RACINE - Hilda C. Davis, 78, of Racine, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2003, in Racine.
Born May 15, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Byron and Esta Johnson Roush. She is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Reinheimer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Davis.
Services will be Tuesday, 11 a.m., at Fisher Funeral Home, Pomeroy. Burial will be in Letart Falls Cemetery.

Michael Daugherty

Age: 64
NEW MARSHFIELD - Michael Daugherty, 64, New Marshfield, passed away Friday at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital Emergency Room.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Kathreen Schmidt Daugherty Hendershot.
He was a 21-year retired Chief Petty Officer of the U.S. Navy, veteran of the Korean War, a member of the Albany Masonic Lodge #723, Athens Elks, life member of Albany VFW Post #9893, K.T. Crossen American Legion Post #21, and Albany Amvets Post #93, and was a retired air control technician for Ohio University.
He is survived by children Mike Daugherty Jr. of Little, Colo., Jeff Daugherty of Albany, Christy Daugherty and J.J. Jones of Albany, Chris and Steve Veach of Delaware, Ohio, and Teresa and Mick McCort of Logan; grandchildren Brandon, Whitney and Michael Daugherty, Morgan and A.J. Veach, Trent and Ashley McCort; special friend Rachel Graham of New Marshfield; sister Pam (Jerry) O’Brien of Parkersburg; brother Tom Daugherty of Ravenswood, W.Va.; stepfather Willie Hendershot of Vienna, W.Va.; and close friends Jerry and Virginia Smith of New Marshfield.
He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Marie Hickman Daugherty in 1981.
Serves will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Swart officiating. Burial will be in New Marshfield Cemetery with military graveside services by the Combined Color Guard Unit.
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, with Masonic services at 5:30 p.m.

Born Feb. 16, 1913, in Charleston, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Dallas Clay and Mary Carlena Sines Moffett.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, Logan, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Elizabeth Marie Alexy

ATHENS - Elizabeth Marie Alexy, 91, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003, in Melbourne, Fla. She was a former resident of Vermilion.
Mrs. Alexy was the beloved wife of the late John; dear mother of Margaret Rose of Sudbury, Mass., John P. of Edmonds, Wash., Paul E. of Merritt Island, Fla., Rosemary Golick of Satellite Beach, Fla., Tom of Jacksonville, Ala., Robert of Charlotte, N.C., William of Athens, Albert of Danville, Calif., and George of Conyers, Ga.; loving grandmother of 28, great-grandmother of nine; and sister of Agnes Kucsara of Saginar Mich.
Services were held Saturday in Vermilion, with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery.
