LOGAN - Helen Shaw Kitchen passed away Monday, Nov. 3, 2003, at Hocking Valley Community Hospital, Logan.
Born in Falls Twp., Hocking County, on Sept. 30, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Robert H. and Augusta Hamilton Shaw.
Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Cardaras Funeral Home, Logan, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Santford Williams

Age: 79
GUYSVILLE - Santford “Richard” Williams, 79, of Guysville, died Monday, Nov. 3, 2003, at his home.
Born Nov. 20, 1923, he was the son of the late Hasie and Mary Daines Williams. He was a veteran of the Air Force. He was employed by Ohio University groundskeeping for 20 years. He was a graduate of Rome-Canaan High School.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Delpha G. Williams; a stepson, Kenneth (Nancy) Garrett of Guysville; a stepdaughter, Frances (Ervin) Puckett of Athens; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Hastings and Gene Williams; two sisters, Gladys Keirns and Helen Hammond; and three stepdaughters, Margie Lou Garrett, Dorothy Norman and Anita Klinglesmith.
At his request, services will be private. Arrangements are by White-Schwarzel Funeral Home, Coolville.

Lois Jean Bennett

GLOUSTER - Lois Jean Bennett, 76, of Dayton, formerly of Glouster and Nelsonville, passed away Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton.
She was born March 10, 1927, in Glouster, the daughter of the late Vern and Esther Gilbreath Lamborn.
Survivors include two daughters, Alice (David) Richards of Glouster and Krista (Perry) Marteny of Stow; three grandchildren, Stanley (Crystal) Richards and Rusty (Heidi) Richards, all of Glouster, and Drew Marteny of Stow; two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Bryce Richards of Glouster; a sister, Laverne (Dail) Thompson of Ocala, Fla.; and a brother, Harold Lamborn of Glouster.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law, Eunice Lamborn.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by Rader-McDonald Funeral Home, West Jefferson.
Wayne Samuel Michael

Age: 88
ATHENS - Wayne Samuel Michael, 88, of Athens, died late Sunday evening, Nov. 2, 2003, at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital.
The son of the late James Edgar and Mable Flossie Wingo Michael, he was born Dec. 14, 1914, in Athens.
Mr. Michael retired from the Athens City Code Enforcement Office as a meter reader. He had worked as a guard at Rickenbacher Air Force Base and as a small dairy farmer selling milk to United and Broughton Dairies.
He is survived by daughters Sharon Bolin of Nelsonville, Sheila (Jack) Bower of Sugar Grove, Mable “Sunny” (David) Hill of Waterford, Melissa Knapp of Albany, Monna (Clyde) Slone of Lancaster, and Wainette Tinkham and fiance Tom Collins of Athens; 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; his ex-wife and friend, Florence Lehoe Michael of Albany; brothers Paul Willard Michael of Columbus and James Edgar Michael of Chillicothe; and several nieces and nephews.
Beside his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Saulters; sons-in-law Robert D. Bolin and Robert Saulters; a great-grandson, Randy Dewaine Bolin Jr.
Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, Athens, by Pastor Bill O’Brien with burial in Alexander Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Bernice E. Waite Dille

McCONNELSVILLE - Bernice E. Waite Dille, 83, of McConnelsville, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at Mark Rest Center, McConnelsville.
Born June 27, 1920, in Stockport, she was the daughter of the late Jermiah and Lula Jane Bell Waite. She was a homemaker and a member of Tabor Ridge Church of Christ, Stockport.
She is survived by five sons, Carlos (Wanda) Dille, Bill (Janice) Dille, Roger (Lynda) Dille, Danny (Pam) Dille and Mike (Jody) Dille, all of McConnelsville; seven daughters, Loretta Milligan of Columbus, Lora (Marvin) Miller of McConnelsville, Linda (John) Schmitt of Middletown, Denise (Susan Tilton) Dille of Athens, Darlene (Carl) Mullen of Stockport, Debbie (Jim) Pauley of Duncan Falls and Donna Short of Vero Beach, Fla.; a granddaughter who was raised in the home, Dianna Fleming of Chesterhill; and several other grandchildren and great- and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Art Dille, on Feb. 24, 1999; two sons, Verlyn and Dick Dille; four grandchildren, Craig, Dane, Jonah and Cindy; two great-grandchildren, Kyle and Emily; eight brothers and five sisters.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Matheney Funeral Home, McConnelsville, with evangelists Robbie Tuttle and Rick Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer Church Cemetery.

LONDONDERRY - Lyman D. Smith, 84, of Londonderry, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at his residence.
Born Jan. 30, 1919, in Harrison Twp., Vinton County, he was the son of the late Henry A. and Ida Dixon Smith. He is survived by a daughter, Sharon Woltz, and a son, Michael Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lorraine McCloud Smith.
Services will be Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Garrett Funeral Home, McArthur. Burial will be in Londonderry Cemetery.

TUPPERS PLAINS - John Thomas Smith, 75, of Tuppers Plains, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at his residence.
Born Sept. 9, 1928, in Betsy Lane, Ky., he was the son of the late Floyd and Gertrude McDaniel Smith. He was supervisor of shipping for United National Bank of Parkersburg, W.Va., and a member of Belpre Masonic Lodge 609 and the Aladdin Shrine Clubs of Columbus and Belpre.
He is survived by a son, Wayne Smith; four grandchildren, Tracey, Kelly, Jason and Jared; three great-granddaughters, Emily, Katie and Sage; and two great-grandsons, Austin and Jaden.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, 2 p.m., at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home, Coolville.

Born Aug. 23, 1921, in Enterprise, he was the son of the late Oscar and Lillian Mae Carpenter Beougher.
Services will be Saturday, 11 a.m., at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
