LOGAN - Helen M. Kornmiller, 80, of Logan, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, at Hocking Valley Community Hospital, Logan.
Born April 12, 1923, in Logan, she was the daughter of the late Gerald T. and Cassie Van Sickle Leonard. She is survived by her husband, Harry W. Kornmiller, and a daughter, Karen L. Kornmiller.
Services will be Saturday, 1 p.m., at Roberts Funeral Home, Logan, with burial in New Fairview Memorial Gardens.

Winona C. Tippie
Died: Thursday, October 30, 2003
Age: 69
ATHENS - Winona C. Tippie, 69, of 5235 Raiders Road, Frazeysburg, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, at her home.
Born March 2, 1934, in Athens County, she was the daughter of the late John and Frances Bratton Reeves, and was a 1952 graduate of Jacksonville-Trimble High School. Mrs. Tippie was a homemaker and enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Tippie, whom she married on July 3, 1954; three sons, Robert A. (Kimberly) Tippie of Zanesville, Charles W. (Mary Beth) Tippie of Frazeysburg and Jerald L. Tippie of Dresden; a daughter, Beth (Ray) Stull of Nashport; three brothers, Arthur (Patty) Reeves and Bernard (Laura) Reeves, both of Florida, and David (Wendy) Reeves of Tennessee; three sisters, Margaret (Jim) Tippie of Powhatan Point, Virginia (Buford) Brown of Athens and Kay Ice of New Marshfield; a sister-in-law, Lavina Schackerd of Florida; four grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, two stepgreat-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son; and two brothers, John Henry Reeves and Clarence O’Donnell Bratton.
Services will be held Monday, 1 p.m., at Vensil-Orr and Chute Funeral Home, 110 Third St., Frazeysburg, with Mrs. Tippie’s brother-in-law, the Rev. Buford Brown, officiating. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery.

Merrill E. Geer Sr.

Age: 81
WELLSTON - Merrill E. Geer Sr., 81, of Wellston, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
Born March 27, 1922, in Wellston, he was the son of the late Wesley and Florence Turner Geer. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline Kisor Geer, and children, Terry and Merrill E. “Gene” Geer, and Billijean Wright. He was preceded in death by a son, Wesley Roy Geer.
Services will be Saturday, 1 p.m., at McWilliams Funeral Home, Wellston. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post 371 of Wellston.

Grace J. Hale

Age: 61
GLOUSTER - Grace J. Hale, 61, of Glouster, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003, in an automobile accident near Jacksonville.
Born Jan. 15, 1942, in Barberton, she was the daughter of Helen M. Marstiller Burns-Liptak of Barberton and the late Lawrence Burns. She was a homemaker and a member of Glouster Eagles Ladies Auxiliary.
Besides her mother, she is survived by sons William (Lori) Hale II of Galloway and Harry Hale of Columbus; daughters Laura (John) Long of Barberton and Julia Kovach of Glouster; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Besides her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Austin Hale, on Feb. 18, 2001; and a son, Michael Hale.
Services will be held Saturday, 1 p.m., at Brown Funeral Home, Murray City, with the Rev. John Wright officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster.

McARTHUR - Julia Wine Hinson, 79, of McArthur, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003, at Adena Regional Medical Center, Chillicothe.
Born June 11, 1924, in Vinton County, she was the daughter of the late William and Blanche Galiher Wine. She is survived by a son, James E. Hinson Jr. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Hinson Sr.
Services will be Sunday, 1 p.m., at Garrett Funeral Home, McArthur. Burial will be in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Vinton County.

Thelma "Pauline" Barnhart

Age: 48
ATHENS - Thelma “Pauline” Barnhart, 48, of Athens, died at her residence early Wednesday morning, Oct. 29, 2003.
Born June 22, 1955, in Athens, she was the daughter of the late James Franklin Barnhart and Helen Barnhart Pike. She was a member of Lighthouse Baptist House and was employed in food service in the Athens area and domestic work.
She is survived by her fiance, Clifford E. Craft of Athens; sisters Mary (Terry) Powell of Venice, Fla., Ruth Kennedy of Portland, Ore., Betty (Harry) Smith of Athens, Kathy Fracasso of Santa Maria, Calif., Karen (Verl) Lamb of Middleport and Cheryl (Gordon) Williams of Coolville; brothers Gary (Wendy) Barnhart of Millfield and Tammy Pike of Venice, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and special friends Gerard P. Dunn of Athens and Darla Cadle of Albany.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Marlene Barnhart, and a special friend, Barb Holdcroft.
Services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m., at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, Athens, with Pastor Eric Ross officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery.

ATHENS - Bernice M. Fiscus, 91, of Berlin Center, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003, at Alliance Community Hospital, following an extended illness.
Born May 11, 1912, in Berlin Center, she was the daughter of the late John and Clara Helsel Hartzell. She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Fiscus. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Fiscus.
Burial will be in Athen Memory Gardens. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Gotschall Hutchison Funeral Home, Minerva.

MIDDLEPORT - Dwight Sherman Haley, 85, of Middleport, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003, in Middleport.
Born Feb. 9, 1918, in Rutland, he was the son of the late George and Julia Romine Haley. He is survived by his wife, Eulonda Little Haley; a daughter, Elizabeth Moodispaugh; and sons Harold, Dwight Jr. and Mark Haley.
Services will be Friday, 1 p.m., at Middleport Community Church. Burial will be in Miles Cemetery.
Friends may call at Fisher Funeral Home, Middleport, on Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m., and at the church on Friday one hour prior to the service.
Joseph M. Fox
Died: Thursday, April 03, 2003
Age: 78
TRIMBLE -- Joseph M. Fox, 78, of Trimble, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2003, at Pine Hills Continuing Care Center, Nelsonville.
Born April 18, 1924, in Clarion, Pa., he was the son of the late Pearl and Lucinda Crossen Fox. He was married to Lydia Ringley Fox of Trimble for 60 years.
He was a retired mechanic for Quality Chevrolet of Columbus, a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and attended Cornerstone Harvest Church in Hollister.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Victor and Marjorie Fox, and Donald and Connie Fox, all of Trimble; three daughters and a son-in-law, Pamela Fox of Baltimore, Patsy and Tivis Ferrell of Mansfield and Betty Hill of Chauncey; 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; a brother, Dewey Fox of Marengo; and three sisters, Liddie Pounds of California, Iva Dell Simpson of Westerville and Wanda Price of Delaware.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, a granddaughter and a son-in-law.
Services will be held Monday, 10 a.m., at Cardaras Funeral Home, Glouster, with the Rev. Linda Berry officiating. Interment will be in Hilltop Cemetery, Millfield, with military graveside services conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit.

Donald C. McManis
Died: Wednesday, April 02, 2003
Age: 80
WELLSTON -- Donald C. McManis, 80, of Wellston, died Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at Westminister-Thurber Community, Columbus.
Born March 22, 1923, in Wellston, he was the son of the late Leroy and Sadie Riffle McManis. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
He is survived by a stepson, William Booth; and a stepdaughter, Margi Cooper. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cora McManis.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Radcliff Cemetery.
