Donald Gene Spearry
Died: Monday, February 3, 2003
Age: 68
COLUMBUS -- Donald Gene "Hunky" Spearry, 68, of Columbus, a former resident of Hamden, passed away on Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, at Mount Carmel East Hospital, Columbus.
Born Nov. 9, 1934, in Jackson County, he was the son of the late John C. and Lucy Argabright Spearry. Donald was an employee of Casmer Clothing Care in Columbus until his retirement in 2001. He enjoyed going to church regularly and loved music and animals.
He is survived by sisters Alice Hagerty of Radcliff and Geraldine McKenzie of Columbus, as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceeded in death by his brother, Kenneth.
Services will be held Saturday, 1 p.m., at McWilliams Funeral Home, Wellston, with the Rev. A.B. Maloy officiating. Burial will be in Radcliff Cemetery.

Willard Vernon Teel
Died: Monday, February 3, 2003
Age: 55
NELSONVILLE -- Willard Vernon Teel, 55, of Nelsonville, passed away on Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, at Doctors Hospital of Nelsonville.
Born April 17, 1947, in Nelsonville, he was the son of the late Willard Eugene and Mabel Simonton Teel. He was retired from GTE, was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and commander of Nelsonville American Legion, and attended Oak Grove Wesleyan Church, Nelsonville.
He is survived by a son, Dustin Matthew Teel of Nelsonville; a sister, Carlene Neal of Newark; two brothers, Robert Eugene (Phyllis) Stufflebean of Bradenton, Fla., and Marion A. (Irene) Stufflebean of Jacksonville, Fla.; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m., at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, Nelsonville, with Pastor David L. Cogar officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville, with a military graveside service conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Florence Henry
Died: Sunday, February 2, 2003
Age: 91
WELLSTON -- Florence Henry, 91, of Wellston, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at her home.
Born July 22, 1911, in Wellston, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Bertha Thompson Deal.
She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy Hall; and six sons, Charles "Bud" Jr., Richard, Brice "Ed," Herb, Don and John.
Services will be Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Jenkins Funeral Home, Wellstonl. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m.
Virginia Adair Pierpont
Died: Sunday, February 2, 2003
Age: 86
WELLSTON -- Virginia Adair Pierpont, 86, of Wellston, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at Edgewood Manor Nursing Facility, Wellston.
Born Oct. 13, 1916, in Wellston, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Lucille Long McClung.
She is survived by a son, Jay Pierpont, and a daughter, Cindy Wagner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Pierpont, and a son, Jack Pierpont.
Services will be Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Hope United Methodist Church, Wellston. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery.
Friends may call at McWilliams Funeral Home, Wellston, on Tuesday, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Susanne Elliott Silverman

Age: 62
ATHENS -- Susanne Elliott Silverman, 62, of Trinidad, Colo, formerly of Athens, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003.
She was the daughter of the late Dr. Rush and Frances Elliott. She is survived by her husband, William Silverman; daughters Karen Anikis and Jenny Flynn; and stepchildren Alex Silverman, Beth Raum, Frances Bluhm, William Silverman and Jeffrey Silverman.
A memorial service was held Wednesday at A. Nosek & Sons, Gerber-McCreery Funeral Home, Brecksville.

Bert V. Taylor
Died: Saturday, January 25, 2003
Age: 82
POMEROY -- Bert W. Taylor, 82, died Jan. 25, 2003, after a brief illness with colon cancer.
A 45-year Worthington resident, he was born in Bedford to Bruce and Ariel Taylor. He served as a Navy pilot in the South Pacific during World War II. After flying for TWA, he returned to Ohio State University and graduated in dairy technology. He managed Deerlick Dairy in Delaware and Heatherwoods Farms in Lansing, Mich., returning to Columbus as sales manager for Dairypak. He earned a masters degree in packaging from Michigan State.
Bert was a dedicated supporter of the OSU Food Science and Technology Department, receiving their Award of Appreciation. He was president of the Central Ohio Dairy Technology Society. He was elected director-at-large of the National Dairy and Food Industry Supply Association and received the Association's Special Achievement Award for his outstanding service as chairman of the Student Dairy Products Judging Contest.
Bert loved his beautiful woodland property in Southeastern Ohio. He continually worked to maintain and improve it as a certified tree farm and received the Ohio Forestry Award for his outstanding woods.
Bert will be deeply missed by many friends, and especially his children, Juliet Taylor, Selinda Schultz, Warren, Celeste Danglade and Vincent; as well as 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; his parents, brother, two sisters and a grandson.
Bert leaves a legacy of compassion, generosity, honor and service.
His memorial service will be held Sunday, 1:30 p.m., at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 2480 W. Dublin-Granville Road, Worthington. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bert and Beverly Taylor Endowment Fund at WOSU, OSU Development Fund 10-403973.
Laura Frederiksen
Died: Thursday, January 30, 2003
Age: 49
ATHENS -- Laura Frederiksen, 49, of Athens, died Thursday morning, Jan. 30, 2003, at her home.
She is the daughter of Lester H. and Jean M. Wallden Frederiksen of Long Boat Key, Fla., and was born July 15, 1953, in Jamaica, Queens, N.Y.
Ms. Frederiksen was a school teacher for 28 years. She taught special education and elementary school. A teacher of grades 1 and 2 at Chauncey Elementary School for 18 years, she was site-based coordinator for Ohio University-Chauncey Literacy Partnership. She was a graduate of Glassboro State College and Ohio University.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Kelmer; a daughter, Gretchen Frederiksen Kelmer of Washington, D.C.; three sisters, Janet (Richard) Wilson of Huntington, W.Va., Louise (Jim Muchow) Frederiksen of Skokie, Ill., and Kate (Daniel) Mount of State College, Pa; a niece and four nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Laura Frederiksen Memorial Fund, Chauncey PTO, P.O. Box 225, Chauncey, Ohio 45719.

Pauline Knowlton
Died: Thursday, January 30, 2003
Age: 90
NELSONVILLE -- Pauline Knowlton, 90, of Nelsonville, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at Logan Health Care Center.
Born June 10, 1912, in Johnsbury, Vt., she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ella Stearns Finley. She was a homemaker and a member of Nelsonville First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her grandsons, Rod (Teresa) Knowlton of Wentsville, Mo., and Ken Knowlton of Florissant, Mo.; and a great-granddaughter, Bryanne.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl J. Knowlton, on Aug. 10, 1982; and a son, Gordon Knowlton.
Services will be held Saturday, 1 p.m., at Warren-Brown Funeral Home, Nelsonville, with the Rev. Gary Carlson officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville.

LOGAN -- Edna Marie Page, 78, of Logan, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at Hocking Valley Community Hospital.
Born March 28, 1924, in Greendale, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Jennie Marie Lambert Dye. She is survived by her husband, Nelson Henry Page.
Services will be held Monday, 11 a.m., at Roberts Funeral Home, Logan. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville.
