Merle Antle Potter

Age: 92
AMESVILLE -- Merle Antle Potter, 92, formerly of Amesville and Circleville, died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003, at Hickory Creek Nursing Center, The Plains.
Born Aug. 12, 1910, in Morgan County, she was the daughter of the late George William and Myrta Alderman Antle. She retired as a cook for the Ames-Bern School District and was a member of Amesville United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a son, William A. Potter of Grapeland, Texas; a son-in-law, Dean MacFadden of Circleville; granddaughters Lisa MacFadden of Akron and Sherrie MacFadden of Circleville; grandsons Chad (Mary) Potter of Kyle, Texas, and Benjamin Potter of Houston, Texas; four nephews and three nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn, in 1991; a daughter, Shirley MacFadden; brothers Carl, Wayne and Raymond Antle; and sisters Forest and Alice Antle, Blanche Buchman and Helen Linscott.
Services will be held Thursday, 1 p.m., at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, Athens, conducted by Jack Sedwick. Burial will be in Amesville Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Jonathan Lee Richards
Died: Sunday, January 5, 2003
Age: 30
COOLVILLE -- Jonathan Lee Richards, 30, of Coolville, died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003, in an automobile accident.
Born May 22, 1972, in Parkersburg, he was the son of Barbara Smith of Parkersburg and the late Leroy Richards. He is survived by his wife, Tammy Richards; a stepson, Ryan Daugherty; and a stepdaughter, Amillia McNabb.
Services will be Friday, 2 p.m., at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home, Coolville. Burial will be in Stewart Cemetery, Hockingport.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from noon until the time of services.
Patricia Jo Wilson Wright
Died: Saturday, January 4, 2003
Age: 66
LOGAN -- Patricia Jo Wilson Wright, 66, Logan, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at Hocking Valley Community Hospital.
Born Oct. 19, 1936, in Hocking County, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Helen Cooper Wilson. She is survived by her husband, Arthur Samuel Wright.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, Logan. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Good Hope Twp., Hocking County.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Roger Lee Wright
Died: Saturday, January 4, 2003
Age: 55
ASHVILLE -- Roger Lee Wright, 55, of Ashville, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at Doctors Hospital West, Columbus.
Born June 13, 1947, in Dexter, he was the son of the late Earl Jennings and Beulah Belle Jordan Wright. He was employed as a sander for Core Materials of Columbus and was a Vietnam veteran. He was a member of the NRA, and Orphans Friends 0275 F&AM and Chapter 207 OES, both of Wilkesville.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Linda Wright; a daughter, Karen (Michael) Rose of Ashville; a brother, Rodney (Andrea) Wright of Rutland; a sister, Kay (Don) Collums of Pomeroy; grandchildren, Crystal and Roger Justice, and Joshua Rose; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Oliver Funeral Home, Ashville, with Pastors Aaron Brown and Frank Waters officiating. Interment will be in Harrison Twp. Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m., and Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. The family encourages people to consider being an organ and tissue transplant donor.
Camelia Jane Fletcher Wilson

Age: 39
ATHENS -- Camelia Jane Fletcher Wilson, 39, of Columbus, died early Friday morning, Jan. 3, 2003, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
Born in Nelsonville, she was the daughter of Tom Fletcher of Athens and the late Jane McClain Fletcher. A 1981 graduate of Alexander High School, she was assistant manager of Simon Kenton Scout Shop in Columbus. She was a graduate of the hotel-restaurant management program at Hocking College.
In addition to her father, she is survived by four sisters, Ann (Glenn) Goins, Linda Howard, Teena (John) Adkins and Davena Fletcher, all of Athens; and a brother, Michael (Susan) Fletcher of Albany.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Jane Fletcher; maternal grandparents John and Bernice McClain and paternal grandparents Charles and Ruby Fletcher.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Jagers and Sons Funeral home, conducted by Pastor Lloyd Sayre. Burial will be in Grahams Chapel Cemetery.

Guy Connett Gabriel
Died: Friday, January 3, 2003
Age: 84
ATHENS -- Guy Connett Gabriel, 84, of Athens, died unexpectedly late Friday evening, Jan. 3, 2003, at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 30, 1918, in Athens County, he was the son of the late Silas Elmer and Mary Elizabeth Jones Gabriel. He attended New Marshfield High School. He was retired from Abex Corp., where he had been employed as a venter for 21 years. Earlier in life, he was employed at McPherson Shoe Repair and Dorman-Householder Pure Oil Co. for 14 years. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Navy in the Atlantic and Pacific Theatres, where he was involved with the liberation of the Philippines and the raising of the flag on Iwo Jima. He was a life member of Athens VFW Post 3477, past master and 32-year member of Amesville Lodge 278 Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio, Valley of Cambridge Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, honorary member of Paramuthia Lodge 25 F&AM, attended Poston and McDougal Churches and was an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, Geneva Weekley Gabriel; sons Gary (Beverly) Gabriel of Millfield and Bob Gabriel of Athens; grandchildren Annette (Jeff) Zeigler of The Plains, Stephanie (Mathew) Wright of Quincy, Dr. Neva West of Baltimore, Md., Anthony (Carolyn) Gabriel of Millfield and Guy Tom (Leigh) Gabriel of The Plains; great-grandchildren A.J. Gabriel, Jason Gabriel, Jessica (Brandon) Engle, Jennifer Zeigler, Robbie Gabriel and Danielle Hartley; three great-great-grandchildren; and a special cat, Stretch.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Harold Gabriel.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, conducted by Pastor Mathew Wright. Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by Athens VFW Post 3477 and K.T. Crossen American Legion Post 21.
Friends may call Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, where Amesville Lodge 278 F&AM will hold memorial services at 7 p.m.
Bernice R. Jeffers
Died: Friday, January 3, 2003
Age: 79
MIDDLEPORT -- Bernice R. Jeffers, 79, Middleport, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at Rocksprings Rehabilitation Center, Pomeroy.
Born Dec. 23, 1923, in Pomeroy, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Minnie Nelson Vining. She is survived by a son, Des Jeffers, and a daughter, Linda Milliron, and was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Jeffers.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Fisher Funeral Home, Pomeroy, with burial in Bradford Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Mary E. Lehman

Age: 83
LOGAN -- Mary E. Lehman, 83, of Logan, passed away Friday, Jan. 3, 2003 in Logan.
Born Nov. 16, 1919 in Logan, she was the daughter of the late Charles Smith and Hilda Gabriel Smith Thurness.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol A. Lehman of Portsmouth.
There will be a private burial in Oak Grove Cemetery in Logan. No calling hours will be observed.

Margaret Cora Lemmer French
Died: Friday, January 3, 2003
ATHENS -- Margaret Cora Lemmer French passed away on Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at Kimes Convalescent Center in Athens after an extended illness.
Born July 30, 1916, in Kalamazoo, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Henry and AnnaMarie (Mary) Lemmer. Her mother was an immigrant from Holland in the early 1900s.
Margaret graduated from Kalamazoo Christian School and from Kalamazoo College with a degree in business. Upon graduation she joined the USO in Battle Creek, Mich., where she met and married her husband, Richard E. "Dick" French while he was stationed there with the U.S. Air Force. They later returned to Athens where she made her home on their farm for over 50 years. She worked for the F. J. Beasley Wholesale Co., R. Kenneth Kerr, Athens County Board of Elections and retired from McBee Systems after 35 years of service. Margaret and her family also owned a janitorial service in the Athens area and worked for Hocking Valley Bank for over 25 years.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Bruce Carpenter; granddaughter Rhonda Gabriel and grandson Jonathan Carpenter; and three great-grandchildren, Jason and Jessica Swart and Paige AnnaMarie Trout. Also surviving are a sister, June Carlin of Kalamazoo; a brother-in-law, Gene (Marie) French of Athens; a sister-in-law, June Clark of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Richard E. "Dick" French; and a sister, Cora Bushy, and a brother, Anthony Lemmer, both of Kalamazoo, preceded her in death.
Calling hours will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home in Albany. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Pastor Dave Cogar officiating. Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery.
