Pam Bailey
Died: Monday, June 11, 2001

ALBANY -- Pam Bailey, 43, of Staneart Road, Albany, died Monday, June 11, 2001, at her residence, following an extended illness.

Born Aug. 28, 1957, in South Charleston, W.Va., she was the daughter of Mary Catherine Gillispie Lovell of Albany, and the late Jack Andrew Rucker. She was a bus driver for Alexander Local School District.

Besides her mother, she is survived by her husband, Murrell Bailey; three daughters, Beth Miller and Robbie Scribner, Tonya Anderson and Kayla Bailey; a son, Murrell Olen Bailey Jr.; a granddaughter, Taylor Brook Scribner; and a grandson, Robert Gage Scribner, all of Albany; a brother, James Wayne and Sandra Rucker of Poca, W.Va.; four sisters, Rebecca and David Daniel of Albany, Teresa Lovell of South Carolina, Debbie and Sam Allen of St. Albans, W.Va., and Robin and Tom King of Shade; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lois Jane and Richard Jeffers of New Boston, Ill., Dana Hubert Bailey Jr. of Albany, and Ricky Wayne Bailey of Florida; and a grandmother, Helen Queen Mays of Florida.

Besides her father, she was preceded in death by grandparents, Mary and Andrew Jackson Rucker.

Services will be held Thursday, 1 p.m., at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home, with the Rev. Darrell Clark officiating. Burial will be in School Lot Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home today, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Marian Carsey
Died: Monday, June 11, 2001

MILLFIELD -- Marian Elores Carsey, 81, of Millfield, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2001, at Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus.

Born Nov. 7, 1919, in West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Helen Cunningham. She was the wife of the late Kenneth Carsey. She retired from the Kroger Co., after working more than 30 years in the bakery department.

She is survived by her son, Terry Carsey of Millfield; and a special friend, Paula Douglas of Millfield.

She was preceded in death by a son, Melvin Carsey; and a brother, Robert Cunningham.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, 1 p.m., at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home in Nelsonville, with the Rev. William Hunter officiating. Interment will be in Hilltop Cemetery, Millfield.

Friends may call at the funeral home today, 5 to 8 p.m.

Eva McClelland
Died: Monday, June 11, 2001

MURRAY CITY -- Eva P. McClelland, 89, of Murray City, died Monday, June 11, 2001, at Russell Nursing Home in Albany.

Born Dec. 12, 1911, in Murray City, she was the daughter of the late John and Blanche Deal Shelton. She was a 1930 graduate of Murray City High School, and a lifetime member of Murray City United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women's Group of the church.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law John Cash and Dorothy McClelland, and David Dave and Vanessa McClelland, all of Glouster, Gary Dutch and Sandy McClelland of Wilmington, Mick and Tina McClelland of Nelsonville, and Robert Preach McClelland and his special friend, Wanda Wright, of Murray City; and 23 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence McClelland, who passed away in 1958; a son, Lawrence Fuzz McClelland; daughters, Roberta Milliron and Virginia Ginny Hogsett; brothers Charles Mick Shelton and Marion Pude Shelton; and a sister, Kate Matthews.

Services will be held Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Brown Funeral Home in Murray City. Burial will be in Glouster Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home today, from 5 to 9 p.m.

Betty McDonald
Died: Monday, June 11, 2001

GLOUSTER -- Betty L. McDonald, 72, of 5 Morgan St., Glouster, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 11, 2001, from her residence, after a lengthy illness.

Born July 20, 1928, in Glouster, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Florence Hogue Richards. Bet, as her family and friends knew her, was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was also a faithful member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church of Glouster.

Survivors include her husband, Donald E. McDonald, whom she married April 8, 1946, in Buchtel; two daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly A. and Tony Addy of San Mateo, Calif., and Karen L. and Carl Myers of Chillicothe; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald F. Donk and Dessie McDonald of North Lewisburg; two grandsons and their wives, Gaines and Tacey McDonald of Monroe, Mich., and Brody and Sue McDonald of Miamisburg; a sister, Helen Spencer of Glouster; several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Isabell Skinner, Josephine Mathews, and an infant Dorothy; four brothers, Joseph JoJo, Norman Snowball, Lawrence Rats, and infant Kenneth.

Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, 10 a.m., at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Glouster, with the Rev. Fr. John Mucha as celebrant. Burial will follow in Glouster Cemetery.

There will be a gathering of family and friends on Wednesday, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., at Cardaras Funeral Home in Glouster, where a wake service will be held at 7:30.

Memorial contributions may be made to South Central Ohio Big Brothers/Big Sisters, 173 W. 2nd St., Chillicothe 45601; or to Holy Cross Catholic Church, 31 Republic Ave., Glouster 45732.

Michael Osborne
Died: Monday, June 11, 2001

ATHENS -- Michael S. Welsh Osborne, 34, of Athens, died Monday, June 11, 2001, in Athens.

Born Sept. 3, 1966, in Parkersburg, W.Va., he was the son of Shirley Osborne. He attended Federal Hocking schools.

Besides his mother, he is survived by a brother, Daniel Welsh of Parkersburg, W.Va.; three sisters, Kelly Welsh of Coolville, Penny Lewis of Macksburg, and Sarah Welsh of Parkersburg.

Memorial services will be held Friday, 1 p.m., at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home in Athens, with Phil Ridenour officiating.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, one hour prior to services.

Marion Simonton
Died: Monday, June 11, 2001

NELSONVILLE -- Marion E. Pete Simonton, 92, of Nelsonville, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2001, at Doctors Hospital in Nelsonville.

He was born Feb. 5, 1909, in Nelsonville, son of the late Marion M. and Stella Mae Haybron Simonton. He was the widower of Evelyn Mae Stufflebean Simonton, who passed away on April 18, 1996.

Pete worked many jobs over the years. He was a retired coal miner, construction worker, bricklayer and logger, and worked in the charcoal factory. He attended Nelsonville Wesleyan Church and was a member of the UMWA.

He is survived by three sons, Marion Simonton, Larry Simonton and Howard (Mary) Simonton, all of Nelsonville; two daughters, Leatha (Richard) Guess of Nelsonville, and Virginia (Jerry) Tedrow of London, Ohio; 14 grandchildren, Karen Fetherolf, Kim (Jeff) Conley, Shelley (Mike) Mouser, Cheryl (Jim) Collison, Vicki (Tim) Henry, Bobbi Jo Simonton, Samantha Simonton, Laurie (Carl) Holley, Cindy (Dale) Young, Pete (Brandi) Simonton, Larry Jr. (Tina) Simonton, Robert Joseph Simonton, Matthew Scott (Julie) Simonton, and Jamie Suellen (James) Wilson; 18 great-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren; a first cousin, Ada Brewer of New Jersey; and two special friends, Albert Hayden and Anna Joy.

In addition to his wife, Evelyn, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Howie, who passed away in 1988; three brothers, Lloyd, George and Oscar Simonton; four sisters, Mabel Teal, Stella Wycuff, Florence Hunley and Alice Simms; and two infant sisters.

Funeral services will be held Friday, 1 p.m., at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home in Nelsonville, with Pastor Michael Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Carbon Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, 4 to 8 p.m.

Homer Strohmeyer
Died: Monday, June 11, 2001

GLOUSTER -- A funeral service for Homer A. Strohmeyer Sr., 86, of Heath, will be held Friday, at 10 a.m., at the Heath Chapel of Henderson, Van Atta and Johnston Funeral Service, with Pastor Gerri Lampton officiating. Burial will follow, at 2 p.m., at Maplewood Cemetery in Glouster.

Mr. Strohmeyer, a member of Heath United Methodist Church, died Monday, June 11, 2001, at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born May 14, 1915, in Glouster, to the late Fred and Lucy Winebrenner Strohmeyer.

Mr. Strohmeyer retired from the Rockwell Corp. after 26 years of service. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Lodge 531 F&AM in Pleasantville.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Pauline W. Radford Strohmeyer, whom he married Nov. 20, 1938; sons and daughters-in-law, Homer A. and Melva Strohmeyer Jr. of Heath, Charles Richard andn Wilma Strohmeyer of Pataskala; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; a nephew, David Nester of Rushville; and nieces Verla Penrod of Nelsonville, and Jan Stephenson and Billie Downs of Glouster.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and six sisters.

Friends may call at the funeral home, 1249 Hebron Road, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where a Masonic service will be held at 6:45.

Robert Denney
Died: Wednesday, June 13, 2001

LOGAN -- Robert Lincoln Denney, 55, of Logan, died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at his residence.

Born Oct. 6, 1945, in Pickaway County, he was the son of the late William T. and Florence M. Terflinger Denney.

He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Shaner Denney; a son, Robert L. Denney; and a daughter, Deneise Deanne Denney.

Services will be held Saturday, 8 p.m., at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday from 2 to 4 and from 6 until time of services.

Michael Harris
Died: Wednesday, June 13, 2001

BUCHTEL -- Michael E. Harris, 47, of Buchtel, formerly of Albany, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at Logan Health Care Center.

Born July 16, 1953, in Nelsonville, he worked for Alexander School District. He was a Vietnam Army veteran, and a member of Nelsonville Wesleyan Church.

He is survived by his mother, Rosella Brooks Harris of Buchtel; two daughters, Melissa Harris and Sara Harris, both of Powhatan Point; a brother, Larry Harris of Nelsonville; and a sister, Brenda Joy of Logan.

He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Gene Harris; and a stepdaughter, Cheryl Harris.

Services will be held Sunday, 2 p.m., at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home in Nelsonville, with the Rev. Michael Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, from 6 to 8 p.m.
