William Johnson
Died: Thursday, June 21, 2001
JACKSONVILLE -- William A. Johnson Sr. of Beavercreek, formerly of Athens County, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 21, 2001, at the age of 84.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Justina Johnson; two brothers, Francis and Emmett; and five sisters, Lempi, Jennie, Inez, Sylvia and Irene.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, E. Faye Walton Johnson; three sons and daughters-in-law, William A. Jr. and Beverly, Leroy and Linda, and Robert and Linda Johnson; six grandchildren, Angie, William III Billy, Leroy Jr., Melissa, Sheri and Robert Jr. Mr. Johnson also is survived by six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ella Bartlett and Lillian Landis; and numerous nieces and nephews, family and friends.
He began his career as a coal miner for 18 years and then became a plumber/pipefitter for Local 162, retiring in 1979 after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Jacksonville and Beavercreek Area 321.
Services will be held Saturday, 1 p.m., at the Beavercreek Chapel of Tobias Funeral Home, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road. Interment will be in Valley View Memorial Gardens, Beavercreek Twp.
Friends may call at the funeral home today, from 6 to 8 p.m., where an Eagles service will be held at 7:30.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Clara Humphrey
Died: Wednesday, June 20, 2001
POMEROY -- Clara Humphrey, 80, of Louisa, Ky., died Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at her residence.
She was born June 26, 1920, in Pomeroy, daughter of the late Edward and Hazel Brown Humphrey.
She is survived by a daughter, Janet Boyce.
Services will be held Saturday, 1 p.m., at Ewing Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rocksprings Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
Helen Blosser
Died: Tuesday, June 19, 2001
LOGAN -- Helen Florence Blosser, 90, of Logan, died Tuesday, June 19, 2001, in the skilled nursing unit of Hocking Valley CommunityHospital in Logan.
BornFeb. 24, 1911, in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late James B. and Rilla Pearl Sprankle Davis.
She is survived by her husband, Foy Ivan Blosser.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at New Fairview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Good Hope, Hocking County.
There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are by Roberts Funeral Home, Logan.
Foy Ivan Blosser

LOGAN -- Foy Ivan Blosser, 95, of Logan, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, at his residence.
Born Oct. 28, 1907, in Enterprise, he was the son of the late John Henry and Edna Mae Murphy Blosser. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Florence Davis Blosser.
Services will be Saturday, 1:30 p.m., at New Fairview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Hocking County. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are by Roberts Funeral Home, Logan.
Hattie Calaway
Died: Thursday, December 12, 2002
Age: 86
COOLVILLE -- Hattie Calaway, 86, of Coolville, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 28, 1916, in Reedsville, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Lula Ann Pullins Reed. She was a member of Grace Brethren Church in Coolville and was a homemaker.
She is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, John and Patty Ann of Marion, Charles Elmer of Savannah, Ga., and Everett of Pomeroy; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lula Ann and Bernard Smith of Cugo Keyes, Fla., and Cathy Sue and Kevin Young of Albany; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elda Ray Calaway, and by several brothers and sisters.
Services will be held Sunday, 1 p.m., at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home, Coolville, with the Rev. George Horner officiating. Burial will be in Coolville Cemetery.

Ruth Calvin Burns

Age: 86
VINTON -- Ruth Calvin Burns, 86, of Vinton, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis.
Born Oct. 26, 1916, in Vinton County, she was the daughter of the late John and Fannie Arbaugh Calvin. She is survived by children Jerry Burns, Rita Burns and Linda Fulton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Burns.
Services will be Monday, 10:30 a.m., at Garrett Funeral Home, McArthur. Burial will be in Radcliff Cemetery.

Curtis Leo Jenkinson
Died: Wednesday, December 11, 2002
Age: 85
MIDDLEPORT -- Curtis Leo Jenkinson, 85, of Middleport, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis.
Born Sept. 3, 1917, in Pomeroy, he was the son of the late Grover and Meda Laubner Jenkinson. He was a graduate of Pomeroy High School and a veteran of World War II who served in the U.S. Navy as a radar technician stationed in Rhode Island and Texas. He was a member of Feeney Bennett Post 128 American Legion of Middleport, Middleport Rotary Club and Shufflers Club of Lakeland, Fla., and a former member of Arix Ohio State Patrol. He was a charter planner and treasurer for Middleport Ball Park and filmed football games for the former Middleport High School for many years.
As a great-grandson of the first Jenkinson pioneer who came to Meigs County, he was an avid genealogist and made many friends with this same hobby. He was employed by the Ford garage in Middleport for 50 years and was a member of Middleport Church of Christ.
He is survived by daughters Korena Kay (Charles) Williams of Burlingham and Mary Jane Jenkinson of Lakeland; two grandchildren, Jim Hoyt of Pomeroy and Sandra Hart of The Plains; and a great-granddaughter, Amanda K. Hoyt of Pomeroy.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dortha D. Satterfield Jenkinson, and a brother, Allen Jenkinson.
Services will be held Sunday, 1 p.m., at Fisher Funeral Home, Middleport, with Al Hartson officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Feeney Bennett Post 128 American Legion of Middleport.

William J. Mingus
Died: Wednesday, December 11, 2002
NELSONVILLE -- William J. "Bill" Mingus, 84, of Nelsonville, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at Doctors Hospital of Nelsonville.
Born Feb. 2, 1918, in Greens Run, he was the son of the late Clarence J. Mingus and Anna Van Hall Mingus Skinner. He was married to Mary Ellen Ogg Mingus of Nelsonville for more than 60 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge 25, Elks Lodge 543, OES 72 and Knights of Pythias.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Peggy Jane Bailey of Nelsonville, Delbert Joseph "Joe" Mingus of Anchorage, Alaska, Ruth Ellen (Kenny) Pinney of Logan, Phyllis Mingus-Pepin of Santa Fe., N.M., and Helen Diane (Greg) Frank of Nelsonville; eight grandchildren, Kristine Gonyer, Becky Jane Bailey, Joe Bailey, Tony Mingus, Kimberly Pinney, Derek Pepin, Scott (Katie) Frank and Danielle Frank; five great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy (Richard) Ogg Hoffman of Hastings, Mich.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and George Thompson, and Kathryn Ann and Russell Trainer; a son-in-law, Ronald Bailey; a brother-in-law, Charles L. Ogg; and his mother- and father-in-law, Delbert A. and Helen D. Ogg.
Services will be held Monday, 11 a.m., at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, Nelsonville, with the Rev. Gary Carlson officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m., where there will be a Masonic service at 3 and an Elks service at 6:30.

Frances Rehm Gordin
Died: Wednesday, December 11, 2002
Age: 93
ATHENS -- Frances Rehm Gordin, 93, formerly of South Charleston, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at Holzer Medical Center, Jackson.
Born in Lucasville on Sept. 7, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Samuel W. and Bertha Lansing Rehm. She had been a resident of Athens for the past eight years. She and her husband were active in the Flying Farmers Association and Clark County Farm Bureau. She was a member of the London Chapter Order of Eastern Star, where she had served as past worthy matron, and a member of South Charleston United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and Jack Cornell of Athens; a son, Jerry Gordin of New Orleans, La.; three grandchildren, Scott (Shelly) Cornell of Hurricane, W.Va., Kristi Gordin of Durham, N.C., and Julie (Kenneth) Ellerbee of Sharpsburg, Ga.; four great-grandchildren, Blake Cornell, Kristen, Garrett and McLain Ellerbee; and a sister, Catherine Tooker of Springfield.
In 1982, she was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Gordin, whom she married in 1930. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Luther Rehm.
Services will be held Saturday, 10 a.m., at Ingling Williams Funeral Home, South Charleston, with the Rev. Raymond A. Gage officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m., where the London Chapter Order of Eastern Star will conducte services that evening.
