SHADE -- Earl Donald Young, 67, of Shade, died Wednesday, July 4, 2001, at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 17, 1933, in Pomeroy, son of Audrey Venoy Young and the late Victor C. Young Sr.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Ewing Funeral Home, Pomeroy. Burial will be at Beech Grove Cemetery.

William Allbery Sr.
Died: Tuesday, July 3, 2001
LOGAN -- William T. Allbery Sr., 68, of Logan, formerly of the Glouster and Columbus areas, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, near Jackson as the result of an auto accident.
Born Dec. 24, 1932, in Haydenville, he was the son of the late Clyde Sr. and Ruth E. Backus Allbery.
He is survived by sons Lewis C., William T. Jr., Robert J., Anthony A. and Timothy L. Allbery.
Services will be Saturday, 1 p.m., at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan. Burial will be in the family cemetery in Hocking County, with military rites conducted by the Combined Veterans Organizations of Hocking County.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Audrey Columber
Died: Tuesday, July 3, 2001
LOGAN -- Audrey Beatrice Columber, 90, of Logan, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at Logan Healthcare Center.
She was born May 1, 1911, in Nelsonville, daughter of the late George and Mary Bryan France.
Services will be Saturday, 10 a.m., at Roberts Funeral Home, Logan. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.

William Creech
Died: Tuesday, July 3, 2001
MINFORD -- William F. Whitey Creech, 76, of Minford, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at Edgewood Manor.
He was born Feb. 20, 1925, in Worthington, Ky., son of the late Grover and Lucy Sparks Creech.
He is survived by his former wife, Beulah Creech Sherman; a daughter, Polly Jo Creech of Albany; and sons Tom and Scott David Creech.

Roy Flowers
Died: Tuesday, July 3, 2001
NELSONVILLE -- Roy M. Flowers, 87, of Nelsonville, passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at Logan Health Care Center.
He was born July 17, 1913, in Nelsonville, son of the late Fred and Dora Eberts Flowers. He retired from Wm. Brooks Shoe Co. in Nelsonville after 33 years.
He is survived by his wife, Lola Dearing Flowers of Nelsonville; a son, Jonathan (Marjean) Flowers of San Antonio, Texas; two daughters, LaDonna (Carl) Michael of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Jane Flowers of Nelsonville; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; a close grandson, Anthony Davis; and a sister, Pauline Wemmer of Barberton.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gary Flowers; a grandson, Mike Michael; a brother, Rex Flowers; and a sister, Glenna Zeimer.
Services will be Saturday, 1 p.m., at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, Nelsonville. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville.

Marion Friend
Died: Tuesday, July 3, 2001
WELLSTON -- Marion E. Andy Friend, 74, of Wellston, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at Edgewood Manor Nursing Facility, Wellston.
Born Sept. 20, 1926, in Zaleski, he was the son of the late John and Mildred Kaill Friend.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Floyd Friend; sons Marion Jr., Randy and Rick; and daughters Mildred Garrett, Betty Lou Friend, Sherry Friend, Rose Ann Friend, Gloria Friend and Dorothy Plummer.
Services will be Friday, 1 p.m., at McWilliams Funeral Home, Wellston. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery.

Norman Hollingshead

KETTERING -- Norman R. Hollingshead, 60, of Kettering, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at Southview Hospital, Miamisburg. He was born in Trimble.
He is survived by his wife, Janet; four daughters and a son-in-law, Diane Stevens of Indiana, Deborah Phillips, Danielle Martin, and Donna and John Hunsbarger of Kettering; a son, David Hollingshead of Fairborn; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday, 11 a.m., at Morris Sons Funeral Home, 1711 E. Dorothy Lane, Kettering. Burial will be in Byron Cemetery.

Samuel Levering
Died: Tuesday, July 3, 2001
GLOUSTER -- Samuel E. Levering, 82, of Glouster, passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at Logan Health Care Center.
He was born Oct. 13, 1918, in Athens County, son of the late Henry and Goldie Smith Levering. He was retired from Price Brothers in Columbus, was a World War II Army veteran and was a member of Jacksonville VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Edna P. Simonton Levering; a son, Larry Levering of Reynoldsburg; a daughter, Patricia Smith of Columbus; a stepson, Bill Ash of Glouster; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Levering of Florida and Reginald Levering of Nelsonville; and a sister, Donna Giffin of Nelsonville.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Lash Levering; and two brothers, Walter and Charles Levering.
Services will be held Friday, 11 a.m., at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, Nelsonville, with Pastor Michael Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville, where military graveside services will be conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit.

Laura Kempton
Died: Friday, July 6, 2001
ATHENS -- Laura Kempton, 80, of Athens, died Friday, July 6, 2001, at Otterbein Lebanon Retirement Community.
She was the loving wife of the late Delmar X. Kempton, beloved mother of David of Bonita Springs, Fla., Tom of Cincinnati, Annie Delewese of Columbus, and Joan of Cincinnati. She also is survived by grandsons Zachary and Steven; and a brother and sister-in-law, Wendell Tom and Alma Seel of Stewart.
She was an unsurpassed gardener of the master's hands, a creative seamstress and a great pie-maker, whose courage, spirit and inspiration will live on in those whose lives she touched.
Mrs. Kempton's remains were donated to Wright State University School of Medicine.
Visitation is Tuesday at 2 p.m., with services at 3, at Otterbein Lebanon Chapel, Campus Center, 585 N. Route 741, Lebanon.

Jack Pierpont
Died: Friday, July 6, 2001
JACKSON -- John Roger Jack Pierpont, 50, of Jackson, died Friday, July 6, 2001, at University Hospital, Columbus.
Born April 29, 1951, in Gallipolis, he was the son of Virginia McClung Pierpont of Wellston and the late John Roger Pierpont. He was an Army veteran.
Services are Monday at 2 p.m. at McWilliams Funeral Home, Wellston. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery with military graveside services by American Legion Post 371 of Wellston.

Daniel Souders
Died: Friday, July 6, 2001
LOGAN -- Daniel W. Souders, 79, of Logan, died Friday, July 6, 2001, at Hocking Valley Community Hospital, Logan.
He was born Sept. 18, 1921, in Logan, son of the late Lawrence and Minnie Corsen Souders. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Beougher Souders.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Kline Memorial Church, Enterprise. Burial will be in Knollwood Cemetery, Logan, with military graveside services by the Combined Veterans Organizations of Hocking County.
