Age: 62
WELLSTON -- Finley L. Davis, 62, of Wellston, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis.
Born May 10, 1940, in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Dan and Dora Carpenter Davis.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Scurlock Davis; two sons, Ed and Eric; and two daughters, Jetta and Jamie.
A memorial service will be held Feb. 22, at 1 p.m., at Jenkins Funeral Chapel in Wellston. Private burial in Salem Cemetery will follow at a later date.
Friends may call at the funeral chapel on Feb. 22, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Kathryn Marie Dickens

THE PLAINS -- Kathryn Marie (Kochis) Dickens, 50, of The Plains, was carried to Heaven in the arms of her angel on Thursday evening, Feb. 13, 2003.
Born Feb. 1, 1953, in Nelsonville, she was the daughter of Steve and Margaret Toth Kochis of Glouster. She was a 1971 graduate of Athens High School, a member of St. Mary of the Hills Catholic Church, Buchtel, and employed by Columbia Gas of Ohio since 1978.
Kathy was a loving daughter, mother, sister and aunt and dear friend and co-worker to many.
She celebrated her life with her husband, Craig, and son, Nicholas; sisters and brothers and their spouses, Margaret and Charles Patton, Mary and Dave Christman, Steve and Carol Kochis, Charles and Anita Kochis, Judy and Donnie Smith, Chris and Craig Gabriel, Rita and Dave Owen, Diane and Scott Veison and Janet and Randy Lackey; her mother-in-law, Betty Dickens; sister-in-law and husband Marlene and Jim Green; 23 nieces and nephews; aunts Julia Hines, Margaret Toth and Lillian Fraley; uncle Mike Kochis; and a special friend, Laura Ballinger.
Kathy was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Robert Dickens.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary of the Hills Catholic Church, Buchtel, with Father John Mucha officiating. Burial will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Trimble.
Friends may call at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, Athens, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Vigil for the deceased will be held today at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Everett E. Lee
Died: Thursday, February 13, 2003
Age: 90
ATHENS -- Everett E. Lee, 90, of Athens, died Thursday evening, Feb. 13, 2003, at the Chillicothe Veterans Administration Hospital.
Born May 25, 1912, in Athens, he was the son of the late Charles and Elsie Byars Lee. He was owner and operator of Lee Trucking most of his life, and also was an interior decorator. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII.
He is survived by two daughters, Sharron (Richard) Perry and Jo Ann Van Dyke, and two sons, Charles (Elizabeth) Lee and Everett Jr. (Ruth) Lee, all of Athens; and 24 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Florence C. (Burnside) Lee; a daughter, Sandra K. Mayles; a granddaughter; a grandson; and five sisters and two brothers.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens, with Minister Willard Love officiating. Burial will be in Bates Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Mabel E. Rardain
Died: Thursday, February 13, 2003
Age: 91
LOGAN -- Mabel E. Rardain, 91, of Logan, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at Hocking Valley Community Hospital, Logan.
Born Aug. 19, 1911, in Haydenville, she was the daughter of the late George and Minta Newlun Myers. Mrs. Rardain attended Union Furnace United Methodist Church. She was known as a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by sons George (Dorothy) Rardain of Logan and Luther Eugene (Sylvia) Rardain of South Bloomingville; daughters Deloris Travis and special friend Ernie Stilson, and Nancy (Clyde) Johnson, both of Logan; grandchildren Carole (Rick) Nelson, George (Tammy) Rardain, Rita (Troy) Brown, Chris (Ginger) Johnson, Tim (Lou) Travis, Mike (Darlene) Travis, Chuck Travis, John (Marty) Rardain, Barry (Robin) Rardain, Roger (Polly) Rardain, Darlene Rardain, David (Leah) Rardain and Lori (Jeff) Pearsall; 24 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Charley Rardain. She was the last of nine children.
Services will be held Monday, 1 p.m., at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan, with Pastor William Shepler officiating. Entombment will be in New Fairview Mausoleum, Hocking County.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Sunday after 10 a.m. The family will be in attendance on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Alma Evelyn Rauch
Died: Thursday, February 13, 2003
Age: 91
ATHENS -- Alma Evelyn Rauch, known to her many friends as Allison, passed away Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at her home in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. at the age of 91.
Born in 1911, Mrs. Rauch was the last surviving child of a family of eight born to W.D. and Ina Robinson of Athens.
Mrs. Rauch was married for 65 years to Francis X. Rauch, who died in February, 2001. They were longtime residents of Longview Heights Road. Frank Rauch was a motion picture exhibitor in the early days of drive-in movies. Later, Allison and Frank co-owned Rauch's Pastry Shoppe in Athens.
Allison Rauch was the vice president of the charter guild of O'Bleness Memorial Hospital in 1961 and was devoted to the cause of raising funds for the hospital when it was built in the 1970s as a replacement for Sheltering Arms Hospital.
As a young mother, Allison was active in Girl Scout work and later served as a volunteer for the Red Cross as a Grey Lady.
An active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Athens, she was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ft. Lauderdale, where the Rauchs resided for 33 years. She continued to attend her church until the last months of her life.
Allison was a long-time member of the Athens Country Club and she attended Ohio University.
She is survived by a daughter, Victoria, and her son-in-law, Marvin Lichterman, of New York City; and a granddaughter, Courtney Lichterman, of Los Feliz, Calif.
Arrangements will be made in the spring to remember Allison in a memorial service in Athens.

Paul Ashton Weaver
Died: Thursday, February 13, 2003
Age: 91
CREOLA -- Paul Ashton Weaver, 91, of Creola, formerly of Dublin, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at Logan Health Care Center.
Born March 12, 1911, in Fairfield County, he was the son of the late Hufford and Lottie Hines Weaver. He was a retired sergeant for the Franklin County Sheriff's Department, a former justice of the peace in Perry Twp., Franklin County, a former Swan Twp. trustee in Vinton County, a member of Lucust Grove United Methodist Church and attended McArthur Church of Christ. He was a 1929 graduate of Etna High School, was past master of Allensville Union Grange 2665, past president of Vinton County PERI, a member of Locust Grove Community Club, a 64-year member of New England Lodge 4 F&AM, and volunteered with CARE Outreach of Vinton County.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilda L. Thompson Weaver, on Oct. 3, 1994; and a brother, Dwight Weaver.
He is survived by two sons, Fred (Lois) Weaver of Creola and Joe (Susan) Weaver of Gahanna; two grandchildren, Andrew (Kerri) Weaver of Wapakaneta and Carolyn Weaver of Galveston, Texas; two step-granddaughters, Rachel and Chelsea Schebler of Gahanna; a great-granddaughter and two step-great-grandsons.
Services will be held Monday, 11 a.m., at Garrett Funeral Home in McArthur, with evangelist Keith Wolley officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2 that afternoon at Dublin Cemetery.

Thelma Lantz
Died: Wednesday, February 12, 2003
Age: 67
TUPPERS PLAINS -- Thelma Lantz, 67, of Tuppers Plains, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg, W.Va.
Born April 7, 1935, in Long Run, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Woodrow Wilson and Mary Clem Putman.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Lantz; two sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Paula, and Charles and Mary Lantz, all of Coolville; a daughter, Donna Reed of Tuppers Plains; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Ruth Putman, Don and Marlene Putman, Junior and Frances Putman, Burl and Bonnie Putman, Dale and Becky Putman, all of Coolville; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Edith and John Henderson of Portland, Dorothy and Mike Lance of Tuppers Plains, and Connie and Jerry Saylor of Guysville.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jackie Eugene Putman.
Services will be held Sunday, 1 p.m., at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home, Coolville, with Pastor Teresa Waldeck officiating. Burial will be in Stewart Cemetery, Hockingport.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
