Ruby Wagoner
Died: Friday, February 15, 2002
LANCASTER -- Ruby J. Wagoner, 90, of Lancaster, formerly of Logan, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, in Logan.
Born April 13, 1911, in Mustoe, Va., she was the daughter of the late Garett Benjamin Schooler and Mary Corbett Schooler.
She is survived by children Jay Bryan JB Wagoner, Larry W. Wagoner, Heskell Wagoner, Gaynell Thacker and Wanda Banfield.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan. Burial will be in New Fairview Mausoleum, Rockbridge. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held today from 7 to 9 p.m., and Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Selby Murphy
Died: Wednesday, February 13, 2002
McARTHUR -- Selby Murphy, 82, of McArthur, Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at Mount Carmel East Medical Center in Columbus.
Born Feb. 22, 1919, in Buchtel, he was the son of the late Selby A. and Ruth Moore Murphy. He was a barber in McArthur for 40 years and a former bridge inspector for the Vinton County Engineer's Office. Mr. Murphy was a 1937 graduate of Buchtel High School, a graduate of Ohio University with a bachelors degree in commerce, and a sergeant major in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He organized McArthur's sesquicentennial celebration in 1962, and was president, organizer and author of by-laws for the Downtown Coaches Association in McArthur.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth C. Mingus Murphy; a son, Patrick (Linda) Murphy of Hamden; daughters Martha Murphy of McArthur, Mary (Richard) Conway of Pickerington and Margy (Kenith) Trainer of McArthur; stepsons Robert (Cecilia) Loper of Columbus and Thomas (Lynn) Loper of Cleveland; sisters Mary Lou (Neal) Sandberg of Parma, Vivian Blackstone and Bonnie (Jay) Whatley of Florida; six grandchildren, Kathryn and Leighton Murphy, Neal, Ellen and Scott Conway, and Jay Trainer; four step-grandchildren, Susan Loper, Angela (Steve) McDorman, Michele (Thomas) Emerick and Michael Loper; and four step-great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine Andrews Murphy, on April 19, 1975; and brothers Frederick and Walter Murphy.
At Mr. Murphy's request, his body was cremated. There will be no calling hours or funeral services.

Duane Ward
Died: Wednesday, February 6, 2002
McARTHUR -- W. Duane Ward, 75, of McArthur, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus.
Born Oct. 7, 1926, in McArthur, he was the son of the late Edward G. and Ruth Brewer Ward. He worked for Southern Ohio Coal and Austin Powder Co., attended World Outreach Church in Wellston and was a member of Masonic bodies.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Donahoe Ward; a son, Michael K. (Eunice) Ward of Jackson; grandchildren Michael, Chad, Kimberly Meredith and Natalie Coll; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers Lloyd and Dale; a sister, Joan Arthur; and a sister-in-law, Lucille Ward.
Services will be held Saturday, 1 p.m., at Garrett Funeral Home in McArthur, with the Rev. Rob Ervin officiating. Burial will be in Elk Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., where Masonic services will be held at 7:30.
Vera Matthews
Died: Tuesday, February 5, 2002
COLUMBUS -- Vera Delores D Matthews, 82, of Columbus, a former resident of Athens County, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at Riverside Methodist Hospital.
She was member of Karl Road Baptist Church and participated in many church activities. She was retired from Beacon Mutual.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James and Laura Cunningham Matthews; a daughter and son-in-law, Kay and William Sattler of Indiana; grandsons Mark Matthews and Peter Sattler; a granddaughter, Stacy (Greg) Sorg; brothers Virgil Max Davis of Fort Belvoir, Va., and Thomas Davis of Lowell; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James R.; and a brother, Robert O. Davis.
Services will be held Saturday, 10 a.m., at Karl Road Baptist Church, 5750 Karl Road, Columbus, with Pastors John Doyel, Gale Baldridge and Bill Bowser officiating. Interment will be in Blendon Central Cemetery.
Friends may call at Moreland Funeral Home, 55 E. Schrock Road in Westerville on Friday, from 4 to 6 p.m.

Louella Noon
Died: Tuesday, February 5, 2002
GLOUSTER -- Louella M. Noon, 96, of Glouster, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, in Glouster.
Born July 20, 1905, in Glouster, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Kate Hinton Vaughn. She was the widow of Edward Noon.
Mrs. Noon was a retired school teacher, a member of Glouster Church of Christ, Rothwell Club and Glouster Garden Club.
She is survived by a niece, Cynthia Vernon of Indiana; a nephew, Gene Nida of Florida; two cousins, Garnet Andrews of Athens and Margaret Toth of Glouster; and special friends Charles and Mary Alexander, and Anita Brunton, all of Glouster.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Vernon and Mildred Harrison.
Services will be held Thursday, 2 p.m., at Cardaras Funeral Home in Glouster, with the Rev. David Couch officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, one hour prior to services.

Robert Stivison
Died: Tuesday, February 5, 2002
UNION FURNACE -- Robert W. Stivison, 87, of Union Furnace, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at his residence.
Born April 18, 1914, in Hocking County, he was the son of the late David H. and Laura E. Lindsey Stivison.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Freda M. Smith Stivison.
Graveside services will be held Friday, 1 p.m., at Fairview Cemetery, Rockbridge.

Dortha Dugan
Died: Monday, February 4, 2002
GLOUSTER -- Dortha K. Dugan, 84, of Glouster, passed away Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at her residence.
Born Dec. 25, 1917, in Columbus, she was the daughter of the late Lee and Anna Chambers Smith. She was the wife of the late Ralph Dugan, who passed away in 1971.
She formerly worked at John Hancock Insurance Agency in Columbus, and retired from Glouster Public Library after 20 years of service.
She was a member of Glouster Church of Christ, Glouster Marcellite Rebekkah Lodge, Past Noble Grands, Thea Chapter Order of Eastern Star and Rothwell Club.
She is survived by two sons, Terry (Lois) Dugan of Jacksonville and Darrell Dugan of Glouster; two daughters, Karen Guffey of Glouster and Tina (Joe) Quinn of Murray City; 10 grandchildren, Lisa (Telford) Berkey, Jason (Melissa) Guffey, Kimberly Guffey, Valerie (Ron) Ives, Nathan Dugan, Keith Dugan, Krista Dugan, Kelsey Dugan, Crystal Quinn and Sheila Quinn; and great-grandchildren Olivia Ives, Sam Ives, Luke Berkey and Zach Guffey.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Smith; and a son-in-law, Virgil Guffey.
Services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., at Cardaras Funeral Home in Glouster, with Don Seever officiating. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster.

Steven Eby
Died: Monday, February 4, 2002
LOGAN -- Steven E. Eby, 45, of Waynesville, formerly of Logan, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, in Waynesville.
He was born Dec. 2, 1956, in Columbus and is survived by his mother and stepfather, Shirley and Leroy Morrison.
Services will be held Friday, 11 a.m., at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home. Burial will be in Knollwood Cemetery in Logan.

Clarence Martin
Died: Monday, February 4, 2002
ATHENS -- Clarence W. Bill Martin, 83, of Athens, died early Monday morning, Feb. 4, 2002, at Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus.
Born Feb. 10, 1918, in Athens, he was the son of the late Charles and Minnie Mae Donaldson Martin. He was a former employee of Abex and McBee. His favorite hobby was magic and illusions. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving in Italy and North Africa. He was a member of Paramuthia Lodge 25 F&AM.
He is survived by a stepson, James Martin of New London, Conn.; two grandchildren, Scott Martin of St. Louis, Mo., and Andrea Piper of Emoria, Kan.; several nieces and nephews, including Dorothy Stout of Tuppers Plains, Marlene Ashcraft and Wally Martin of Chardon.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred, in 1997; a sister, Mildred Matlock; and two brothers, Myron and Hanson Martin.
Services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home in Athens, with the Rev. David Roach officiating. Burial will be in West Union Street Cemetery.
