WELLSTON -- Monna M. Downard, 85, of Wellston, passed away Monday, Dec. 16, 2002, at Holzer Medical Center in Jackson.
Born in Wellston on June 18, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Daisy Roach Downard. Monna was a 1935 graduate of Wellston High School and was a former employee of Chambers Department Store for several years.
She is survived by sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Gil Jones of Wellston, Marian DeWitte of Wellston, Mary Downard of Wellston, Pat and James Raines of Wilkesville, Jane Partee of McArthur and Marjorie Frazee of Cincinnati; brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Margaret Downard of Florida and Jack and Jane Downard of Wellston; a brother-in-law, Bob Williams of Jackson; a sister-in-law, Kathleen Downard of Enon; nieces and nephews, Sue Blankenship, Bobbie Cunningham, Bill Downard, Jim Downard, John Jones, Cathy Stoughton, Christy Scott, Steve Downard, Mike Downard, Lisa Downard, Kim Trainor and Kevin Frazee; several great- and great-great nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Ralph Downard, Booge Downard, Bill Downard and Ray Downard; a sister, Virginia Williams; and a nephew, Dick Downard.
Friends may call Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at McWilliams Funeral Home, Wellston. Graveside services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Ridgewood Cemetery, Wellston.
Gwen F. Geyer
Died: Monday, December 16, 2002
Age: 64
GLOUSTER -- Gwen F. Geyer, 64, of Glouster, died Monday, Dec. 16, 2002, at University Medical Center, Columbus.
Born Jan. 22, 1938, in Zanesville, she was the daughter of the late Charles Darnell and Gwen Sarbaugh Darnell.
She was a retired employee of the Goodyear plant in Logan.
She is survived by her friend, Shelba Knott, with whom she made her home; sisters Shirley McCoid, Bonnie (William) Snyder and Linda (Roland) McNutt, all of Zanesville; a special niece, Bethinee Porter of Cincinnati; and nephews Michael and William Snyder of Zanesville and Eric Synder of Tampa, Fla.

Marjorie Goss
Died: Wednesday, July 11, 2001
LOGAN -- Marjorie Josephine Goss, 89, of Rockbridge, died Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at her residence.
Born Oct. 1, 1911, in Hocking County, she was the daughter of the late Jacob Schneider and Mary Isabelle Coakley Wooley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Elmo Goss.
Services will be Saturday, 11 a.m., at Roberts Funeral Home, Logan. Burial will be in New Fairview Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Vivian Munn
Died: Wednesday, July 11, 2001
ALBANY -- Vivian Kathryn Munn, died Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at Russell Nursing Home, Albany.
Born Aug. 27, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Kate Burdette of Albany. She was a graduate of Albany High School and Ohio University. She was a retired teacher and a member of Albany Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Fred (Kathy) Dailey; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Mike (Sandra) Ohlinger; granddaughters Mrs. Steve (Angie) Savage, Trudy Dailey and Mrs. Kelly (Katy) Courts; and four great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Munn; her sister, Edith Chase; and three brothers, Joe, Ralph and Tom.
Private graveside services will be held at Athens County Memory Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Mike Rose. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are by Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home, Albany.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Albany Baptist Church.
Ralph Smith
Died: Wednesday, July 11, 2001
ATHENS -- Ralph D. Smith, 78, of Athens, died Wednesday, July 11, 2001, in Florence, S.C.
Mr. Smith was born in New Philadelphia, Ohio, on Feb. 11, 1923, and was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond S. and Luella Dorrance Smith; a sister, Mary Johnson; and a brother, Vernon Smith.
He graduated from Ohio University with a BS in industrial engineering and received a masters degree in industrial engineering from the University of Wisconsin. Mr. Smith was dean of regional campus programs at Ohio University from 1965-73 and was a professor of industrial and systems engineering at Ohio University from 1973-93. He was also a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Lelah Cline Smith; three sons, Gregory C. (Sharon) Smith of Summerville, S.C., and Jeffrey S. (Jane) Smith and J. Kent (Karen) Smith of Florence, S.C.; and six grandchildren, Greg, Michelle, Jennifer, John Kent, Christopher and Michael.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at noon at Athens First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Mary Jo Yeakel and Barbara Carriere officiating. Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church Tuesday beginning at 10 a.m.

Alice Young

RUTLAND -- Alice M. Young, 85, of Dexter, died Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis.
Born Feb. 5, 1916, in Dexter, she was the daughter of the late Charles Delaney and Mary McCumber Delaney Will. She is survived by a daughter, Patty Clark. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Frank Young.
Services will be held Friday, 1 p.m., at Ewing Funeral Home. Burial will be in Miles Cemetery.

Margaret Harman
Died: Tuesday, July 10, 2001
ATHENS -- Margaret Snow Harman, 97, of First Community Village, Columbus, passed away July 10, 2001, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
Margaret was born and raised in Athens, where she graduated from Ohio University. She was a longtime resident of Upper Arlington, and was a member of First Community Church and numerous other service organizations.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer Harman, in 1979.
Margaret is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Suzanne and John Scofield of Charleston, S.C., and Jane and Ron Hooker of Upper Arlington; grandchildren and their spouses, Jane Scofield, Nancy Scofield, Bill and Sonya Scofield, Elizabeth and Edward Jackson, Cheri and Donal O'Mathuna, Jeff and Emily Hooker, and Greg and Cheryl Hooker; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held Saturday at Union Cemetery, Columbus, with Pastor Jack Witherspoon officiating.
A public memorial service will be held Saturday, 11 a.m., at First Community Village, Burkhart Center, 1800 Riverside Drive, Columbus.
Arrangements are by Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, Columbus.

POMEROY -- Christy A. Koenig Martin, 28, of Pomeroy, died Monday, July 9, 2001, in Pomeroy.
She was born Oct. 12, 1972, in Gallipolis, daughter of Leonard H. Jr. and Sandra J. Koenig of Pomeroy.
Besides her parents, she is survived by her husband, Royal F. Martin; and sons Dustin Salser and Joseph Martin.
Services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., at Fisher-Acree Funeral Home in Pomeroy. Burial will be in King-Masser Cemetery.

Ray Smith
Died: Monday, July 9, 2001
WELLSTON -- Ray D. Smith, 81, of Wellston, died Monday, July 9, 2001, at his residence.
Born March 28, 1920, in Christine, N.D., he was the son of the late Harvey G. and Maye Allen Smith. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy McCumber Coy Smith; daughters Sharon Sabo and Louise Simendinger; sons Doug and Gene Smith; stepdaughters Diana Johnson and Sharon Hill; and stepsons Everett, Carl, Jim and Dennis Coy.
Services will be held Thursday, 1 p.m., at McWilliams Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hamden Cemetery, with graveside services conducted by American Legion Post 371.

Sharon Timberlake
Died: Monday, July 9, 2001
LOGAN -- Sharon Ann Timberlake, 59, of Logan, died Monday, July 9, 2001, at her residence, after a brief illness.
Born Aug. 12, 1941, in Detroit, Mich., she was the daughter of Emma K. Jones David of Ocala, Fla., and the late Herman P. David. Mrs. Timberlake was former co-owner of Hocking Valley Electronics (Radio Shack) in Logan, had been a helpmate, a homemaker and a fine woman.
Besides her mother, she is survived by her husband, Earle Timberlake of Logan; two daughters, Kathy Timberlake of Key West, Fla., and Tanya L. Timberlake of Salem, Ore.; and two sons, Gregory S. England of Logan, and Eric W. Timberlake of Aloha, Ore.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, noon, at the residence, 11834 Route 93, North Logan. All are welcome to attend.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Mrs. Timberlake's memory to Hospice of Fairfield County, 1111 E. Main St., Lancaster, 43130-4099; or to Hospice of Hocking County, P.O. Box 527, Logan 43138.
