GLOUSTER -- Michael Thomas Jones, 41, of Glouster, died Monday, May 5, 2003, at Arthur James Cancer Hospital, Columbus.
Born Dec. 26, 1961, in Nelsonville, he was the son of Sam and Ellen Pappas Jones of Glouster. He was of the Christian faith and a member of the Trimble Alumni Football Association.
He is survived by a son, Seth Michael Jones of Murray, Ky.; two daughters, Courtney Lynn (Jason) Wickmann of Trimble and Mackenzie Shaw Jones of Murray; a granddaughter, Chloe Diane Wickmann of Trimble; grandparents Ralph and Juanita Shaw and Waunita Jones, all of Glouster; several aunts, uncles and cousins, a niece and a nephew; a brother, Sam Jones II of Glouster; and a sister, Kim Jones (Lori Dodson) of Glouster. Among his many special friends are L.R. Faires, Mike Moore and Dave Conkey.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Angelo and Rosie Pappas, and Edwin Jones.
Services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., at Bishopville Church of Christ, with John Wright officiating. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster.
Friends may call at Cardaras Funeral Home, Glouster, on Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m., and at the church on Thursday one hour prior to services.

LOGAN -- Timothy Aaron Kirkland, 14, of Logan, died Monday, May 5, 2003, at Children's Hospital, Columbus.
Born June 29, 1988, in Galveston, Texas, he was the son of Robert and Christina Pulling Kirkland of Logan.
Services will be Monday, 1 p.m., at Cardaras Funeral Home, Logan. Cremation will follow.

Jack K. Spires Jr.

SYRACUSE -- Jack "Jackie" K. Spires, Jr., 48, of Syracuse, died Friday, March 21, 2003, at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis.
Born July 25, 1954 in Mason, W.Va., he was the son of the late Jack Spires, Sr. and Louise "Dimples" McDaniel Spires Durst and step-father, Jack Durst, both of Syracuse.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fisher Funeral Home in Pomeroy with cremation following.

Arthur E. Gilbraith
Died: Thursday, March 20, 2003
Age: 76
NELSONVILLE -- Arthur E. Gilbraith, 76, of Nelsonville, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2003, at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 27, 1926, in Athens County, he was the son of the late Richard and Mary Stump Gilbraith. He was married to Helen Spencer Gilbraith of Nelsonville. He was a retired coal miner and a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James and Tammie Gilbraith of Nelsonville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Jean and Steve Arnold, and Ruth "Squeak" and Rick Foughty, all of Lancaster; eight grandchildren, Heather, Bridgette, Jenny, J.R., Roxie, Brandy, Christina and Davida; three great-grandchildren, Kyla, Cody and Preston; and a brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Annabelle Gilbraith of Carbondale.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Gilbraith, and three brothers, Richard Jr., Leonard and Frank Gilbraith.
Services will be held Sunday, 2 p.m., at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, Nelsonville, with the Rev. Michael Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Asbury Cemetery, Hocking County.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m., and on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Pauline M. Heck
Died: Thursday, March 20, 2003
Age: 92
ATHENS -- Pauline M. Heck, 92, of Springfield, died Thursday, March 20, 2003, at Community Hospital, Springfield.
Born July 9, 1910, in Huntsville, she was the daughter of the late John C. and Bertha Berry Alloway. Pauline attended Wittenberg and Miami Universities and graduated from Bowling Green State University. She retired in 1973 from Simon Kenton Elementary School in the Springfield City District, with 35 years of service. Pauline was a 65-year member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Megs missionary and Ohio State Teachers Association.
She is survived by two grandchildren, Richard R. Heck Jr. of Athens and Lori B. Diamond of Vancouver, Wash.; a daughter-in-law, Jill Heck of Enon; a great-grandchild, Sandra Sneed of Springfield; a sister-in-law, Marge Alloway of California; and a nephew, Michael of California. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor E. Heck, in March of 1996; a son, Richard, in 1999; and two brothers, John and Ralph Alloway.
Her body was entrusted to Woods-Allgier Funeral Home, Springfield. Services will be held Saturday, at 11 a.m., at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, New Carlisle, with the Rev. William A. McKee officiating.

Albert Gene Lutz

Age: 43
ATHENS -- Albert Gene Lutz, 43, of Athens, died Thursday, March 20, 2003, at his home.
Born April 8, 1959, in Coshocton, he was the son of Irene Lutz Mozingo of Athens and the late Albert Maywood Lutz. He was a construction worker, veteran of the U.S. Army, and a member of Athens AMVETS Post 76 and Athens VFW Post 3477.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Brenda Puckett Lutz; a daughter, Amanda (Ronald) Lloyd of Warsaw; two sons, Albert Eugene Lutz of Nelsonville and Johnathon Maywood Lutz of Guysville; three grandsons, Richard, Harold and Danny Lloyd; one brother, Gordon (Kathi) Lutz of Lancaster; four sisters, Debbie (Floyd) Carsey of Athens, Diane (Warren) Frost of The Plains, Judy (Danny) Burbridge of Albany, and Joann (Ernest) Powell of Salem Center; several nieces and nephews; and a stepfather, Thomas Mozingo.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wilbur and Lucille Barnes Huggins, and Alva and Martha Lutz.
Services will be conducted on Sunday, at 2 p.m., at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home, Albany, with Lt. Ross Kelsey officiating. Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens, with Athens VFW #3477 having military graveside services.

Wanda Ann Sheets Kuhn

WELLSTON -- Wanda Ann Sheets Kuhn, 50, of Wellston, died at her residence, Thursday, March 20, 2003.
Born Dec. 3, 1952, in Portsmouth, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Clara Sheets.
She is survived by her children, Desi Wise, Davene Wells, Ronald and David Freeze.
Services were held Saturday with burial in Limirick Cemetery.
James Robert Grueser Sr.

POMEROY -- James Robert Grueser Sr., 54, of Middleport, died Wednesday, March 19, 2003, in Pomeroy.
Born Nov. 9, 1948, in Minersville, he was the son of the late Robert Earl and Norma Jean Davis Grueser of Racine. He is survived by his wife, Donna Jean Williams Grueser; a daughter, Tracey Van Matre; and a son, James Robert Grueser Jr.
Services will be Sunday, 3 p.m., at Fishers Funeral Home, Pomeroy. Burial will be in Kirkland Cemetery, Lakin, W.Va.

Helen Louise Hart

Age: 84
MILLFIELD -- Helen Louise Hart, 84, of Millfield, went to be with the Lord early Wednesday morning, March 19, 2003.
Born March 4, 1919, in Mudsock, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Ida Lovsy Beitelschies. She attended Chauncey Dover School and was a member of Poston United Methodist Church.
She is survived by daughters, Mary Helen (Blaine) James of Athens, Shirley Kay (Nick) Carr of Millfield and Rita Jean (Larry) Spencer of Guysville; 21 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Gladys McClellen of Athens; and daughters-in-law JoAnn Hart of Athens and Carol Bowser of The Plains.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in 1999; sons Bill and Ray Hart; a granddaughter, Connie Hart; an infant son, Charles William Hart; a son-in-law, Phillip Porter; an infant great-great-granddaughter; and sisters Mary Azbell, Ruth, Esther and Ida Beitelschies.
Services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m., at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, Athens, conducted by the Rev. Bill O'Brien. Burial will be in Hilltop Cemetery.
