Albert V. Jennice

GLOUSTER -- Albert V. "Pete" Jennice, 80, of Glouster, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, at Pine Hills Continuing Care Center, Nelsonville.
Born Sept. 6, 1922, in Glouster, he was the son of the late James Jennice and Mary Dominico Jennice. He was a World War II Navy veteran, and retired from Yorde Machine Shop.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Wahnetta Vermaaten Jennice; two sons, James (Ramona) Jennice of The Plains and Lewis (Greta) Jennice of Glouster; a daughter, Mary Jennice of Glouster; grandchildren Brian Jennice and Christel Losey of Glouster, Anthony Jennice of Lancaster and Dustin Jennice of Logan; great-grandchildren Brianna and Zack Jennice of Glouster; a brother, Charles Jennice of Glouster; and a sister, Virginia Bresnen of Columbus.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Becky Jennice; a brother, Lewis Jennice, who was killed during World War II; and sisters Margaret and Irene Jennice.
Graveside funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster, with the Rev. William Hixon officiating. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit. No calling hours will be observed.
Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home, Murray City.
Frances E. Collins
Died: Wednesday, January 8, 2003
Age: 90
NELSONVILLE -- Frances E. Collins, 90, of Canton, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003, at McKinely Health Care Center, Canton, after a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 18, 1912, in Jobs, the daughter of the late George and Lessie Giffin Garner. She was a retired switchboard operator for the old Mercy Hospital.
She is survived by sons Robert W. (Marylin) Collins of Canton and Richard A (Wilma) Collins of Orrville; a daughter, Barbara Klink of Salisbury, Pa.; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Esther Warren of Glouster.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter R. Collins, to whom she was married for 48 years, and who passed away in 1978; and 12 brothers and sisters.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Warren-Brown Funeral Home, Nelsonville, the the Rev. Harold McConnell officiating. Mrs. Collins' cremains will be placed in Dew Cemetery following the memorial service.
Lucy Patton
Died: Friday, February 8, 2002
WELLSTON -- Lucy F. Patton of Wellston died at Holzer Medical Center in Jackson.
Born in Wellston, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Marsha Ann Redd Williams.
She is survived by children Gary Williams, Lori Ann Faught and Sharon Jarvis.
Services will be held Saturday, at 6 p.m., at Jason R. Winters Funeral Chapel.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 1 to 6 p.m.
Debera Snyder
Died: Friday, February 8, 2002
RUTLAND -- Debera Joan Snyder, 47, of Rutland, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, in Rutland.
Born May 3, 1954, in Mason, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Harry J. and Janet Mason Snyder.
Private graveside services are planned. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are by Fisher Funeral Home, Middleport.
Sherman Carnes
Died: Thursday, February 7, 2002
CHESTERHILL -- Sherman H. Joe Carnes, 66, of Zanesville, formerly of Chesterhill, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at Grant Medical Center, Columbus.
Born Oct. 16, 1935, in Chesterhill, he was the son of Iva L. Dalton Carnes of Zanesville and the late Leonard W. Carnes. He is survived by a son, Joe Carnes, and daughters Christina Palmer and Carol Harris.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Bethel Wesleyan Church, with burial in Chesterhill Cemetery.
Calling hours will be today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Stone-Matheny Funeral Home, Chesterhill, and at the church on Monday one hour prior to the service.
Harold Crowder
Died: Thursday, February 7, 2002
DEXTER -- Harold F. Crowder, 67, of Dexter, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, in Dexter.
Born July 4, 1934, in Morris Creek, W.Va., he was the son of the late Chet and Bertha Wright Crowder.
Private graveside services will be held Saturday in Standish Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements will be announced by Fisher Funeral Home in Middleport.
Dessie Dial
Died: Thursday, February 7, 2002
LOGAN -- Dessie V. Dial, 85, of Logan, formerly of Trimble, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, in the extended care unit of Hocking Valley Community Hospital.
Born April 27, 1916, in Morrisvale, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Edward and Bessie Hull Conley. Dessie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker. She was a 1934 graduate of Buchtel High School and worked very hard to graduate from Bliss College in 1935.
Survivors include three daughters, Jane and Deborah Dial of Logan, and Dessie (Don) McDonald of North Lewisburg; a son, Dan (Melody) Dial of London, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Laura Dial of Columbus; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Connie (Bill) McClain of Nelsonville; several nieces and nephews; and a special cousin, Martina Hughes of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert, in 1978; a son, George, in 2001; two sisters, Harriett Conley and Georgianna Brown; and three brothers, Charles, John and Edward Conley.
A private family graveside funeral service will be held Monday, 1 p.m., in Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Georgianna Brown Nursery c/o of Wesleyan Church, Chestnut Street, Nelsonville.
Arrangements are by McDonald Funeral Home in Mechanicsburg.
Ann McManaway
Died: Thursday, February 7, 2002
TRIMBLE -- Ann McManaway, 80, of Trimble, passed away Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at her residence.
Born April 1, 1921, in Athens County, she was the daughter of the late James and Bertha Allensworth Barrett.
Mrs. McManaway was the wife of the late John H. McManaway, who passed away in 1981.
She is survived by two sons, Pete (Nancy) McManaway of Millersburg and John Skeet McManaway of Florida; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Joe Barrett of Coshocton; and two sisters, Lillian Russell of Millfield and Josephine Russell of Glouster.
Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. McManaway was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, Nelsonville, with the Rev. Mike Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Nelsonville.

James Franco

LOGAN -- James V. Franco, 51, of Logan, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, in Logan.
Born Nov. 10, 1950, in Gallup, N.M., he was the son of Romona Hernandez Franco Grants of New Mexico and the late Frank B. Franco.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Rebecca Casey Franco; a son, James V. Franco II; and a daughter, Loretta Brooks.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, 2 p.m., at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home in Logan.

Fern Harble
Died: Wednesday, February 6, 2002
LOGAN -- Fern M. Harble, 96, of Logan, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, in Logan.
Born Dec. 27, 1905, in Hocking County, she was the daughter of the late Grover C. and Nora Davis Davis.
She is survived by a son, Lawrence Davis; and a daughter, Mabel Stewart.
Services will be held Friday, 2 p.m., at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home in Logan. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery, Hocking County.
