BARBERTON -- Violet G. Beal, 83, passed away on Aug. 11, 2001, at Rittman Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Shawnee, she previously lived in Carbon Hill and resided most of her life in the Akron area.
She is survived by daughters Irene Swad of Ravenna and Helen Gunshefski of Akron; a son, Floyd of Ravenna; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Carbon Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Paul A. Johnson officiating. No calling hours will be observed. Arrangements are by Hahn-Hostetler Funeral Home, Barberton.
Betty Brown
Died: Saturday, August 11, 2001
LOGAN -- Betty Marie Brown, 64, of Logan, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, at her residence.
She was born Feb. 22, 1937, in Candy Town, daughter of the late Virgil Edward and Bessie Ima Azbell Emrick.
She is survived by her husband, Lewis Harold Brown Sr.
Services will be held Tuesday, 2 p.m., at Roberts Funeral Home in Logan. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill United Methodist Cemetery, Marion Twp., Hocking County.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until time of services.

Lousie Dicus
Died: Saturday, August 11, 2001
GLOUSTER -- Louise Dicus, 76, of Chillicothe, died peacefully at home on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, at 4:58 p.m., following an extended illness. She was surrounded by her family at her bedside at the time of death.
She was born the daughter of George and Hazel Bethards Current on Jan. 7, 1925, in Ross County. She had been a lifetime resident of Ross County until 15 years ago, when she and her husband made their home in Glouster following their retirement. There, she leaves many very close friends.
Louise attended and was valedictorian of her graduating class at Huntington High School in 1945. Before her children, she was a bookkeeper in Chillicothe. She enjoyed her profession, but her passion came with the birth of her children and grandchildren. She was a very devoted Christian and gladly made her love of Christ and her family her entire life.
While living in Ross County, Louise attended Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church; and while residing in Glouster, she attended Bishopville United Methodist Church. She volunteered many hours helping those who needed help or just needed someone to talk to. In both areas, Louise is leaving behind a lot of very special friends.
On Aug. 18, 1946, she married LeRoy Dicus in Bexley, who survives. Also surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, with whom she lived, Daniel and Beverly Dicus of Chillicothe; a daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Mike Cox of Chillicothe; three grandsons, Matt Cox serving with the U.S. Army in Kosovo, Eric Cox and Chris Dicus of Chillicothe; two sisters, Georgia Black of Texas, and Beulah Kauffman of Kentucky; a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Carl Knotts of Chillicothe; cousins, nieces and nephews; and a special friend and caregiver, Joan Shepherd.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Artis Mary Shewalter and Evelyn Jean Current.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Fisher-Anderson-Ebright Funeral Home in Frankfort, with the Rev. John Wright officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.
It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to Adena Hospice, 111 W. Water St., Chillicothe 45601, which did a wonderful job of caring for her.
Carol Kitchen
Died: Saturday, August 11, 2001
LOGAN -- Carol Ann Kitchen, 63, of Logan, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, at Hocking Valley Community Hospital.
Born Dec. 11, 1937, in Hocking County, she was the daughter of the late Harry Russell and Ethel G. Appleman Primmer.
Survivors include her husband, Earl J. Kitchen, and daughters Crystal Fizer, Loretta Sampson and Jane Shannon.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Calling hours will be observed at the funeral home on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Contributions may be made to New Zion United Methodist Church, in care of Jane Shannon, 17164 Krinn Unger Keck Road, Logan.
Mary Weiland
Died: Saturday, August 11, 2001
WELLSTON -- Mary Sue Weiland, 57, of Wellston, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, at her residence.
She was born Nov. 29, 1943, in Jackson County, to the late Ed and Katie Burns Montgomery. Mary Sue had worked as a nurse, and retired as a teacher of nursing from Buckeye Hills Career Center in Gallipolis and Pickaway/Ross Vocational School. She had received her certification in massage therapy, and worked at Miguel Christian in Jackson. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Wellston, OEA and VICA.
Survivors include two sons, Walter Weiland (Sandi Davis) of Wellston, and Jason (Lorrie) Weiland of New Boston, Mich.; a granddaughter, Shelbie Katelynn; a brother, Tom (Mary) Montgomery of Wellston; a sister, Rita Arthurs of California; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Ray Weiland, on Jan. 30, 2001; and brothers John and Jim.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 227 S. New York Ave., with Fr. Donald Maroon officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wellston.
Friends may call at McWilliams Funeral Home, 125 E. First St., Wellston, on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m., where a rosary service will begin at 8.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.
Herman Wolfe
Died: Saturday, August 11, 2001
LOGAN -- Herman F. Wolfe, 78, of Logan, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, at Hocking Valley Community Hospital.
He was born Aug. 31, 1922, in Walton, W.Va., son of the late Edward Blaine and Mary Elizabeth Keffer Wolfe.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Faye M. Hart Wolfe; and daughters Lucille Chandler, Betty Schultz and Sandra Dennis.
Services will be held Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home. Burial will be in New Fairview Cemetery, Hocking County, with military graveside serviced conducted by the Combined Veterans Organizations of Hocking County.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Sibyl Barr
Died: Friday, August 10, 2001
POMEROY -- Sibyl P. Dorst Barr, 91, of Veterans Memorial Extended Care, Pomeroy, went home to be with the Lord at 10:40 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 10, 2001.
Born Jan. 8, 1910 in Sumner, she was the daughter of the late Asbury C. Smith and Emma C. Batey Smith. A 1929 graduate of Chester High School, Mrs. Barr worked as a housekeeper for the Meigs County Infirmary. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons and three daughters-in-law, E. Martin and Grace Dorst of Shade, Thomas L. and Robin Dorst of Pomeroy and Helen Dorst Wilson of Tuppers Plains; a nephew, Fred E. (Ruth) Smith of Racine who was raised in her home; five stepdaughters, nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Edgar Dorst and Arthur Barr; an infant daughter; and a son, Robert A. Dorst.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Ewing Funeral Home, Pomeroy, with Rev. Lamar O'Bryant officiating. Interment will be in Keebaugh Cemetery.
Calling hours are Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Herbert L. Kunze

Age: 72
WELLSTON -- Herbert L. Kunze, 72, of Wellston, died at his residence on Wednesday, March 12, 2003.
Born June 28, 1930, in Columbus, he was the son of the late Herbert C. and Gladys Kunze. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Mary Kunze; a son, Michael Kunze; and a daughter, Ginny Kunze.
Services will be Saturday, noon, at J.P. Rogers Funeral Home, Wellston. Burial and military graveside services will be held in Ridgewood Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m.
Eloise Morris Sperati
Died: Wednesday, March 12, 2003
Age: 86
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. -- Eloise Morris Sperati, 86, of Parkersburg, W.Va., died Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at St. Joseph Hospital, Parkersburg.
Born March 13, 1917, in Blair, Neb., she was the daughter of the late Harry L. and Louise Eller Morris. Mrs. Sperati was a homemaker and a former associate editor of the 14th edition of the Dewey Decimal classification. She was a former employee of the resource center of Alexis I. duPont High School in Wilmington, Del. She attended Dana College in Blair and was a graduate of the University of Nebraska in 1938. Mrs. Sperati received a library science degree in 1940 from the Univerity of Illinois.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Blair and a member of First Lutheran Church in Parkersburg.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Carleton A. Sperati, whom she married June 1, 1941; a daughter and son-in-law, Solveig and Dr. Leon Korte of Vermillion, S.D.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Robert Sperati and Sondra Lewis of Heemstede, The Netherlands, and William and Betty Sperati of Wilmington, Del.; seven grandchildren, Christine (Donald) Eastburn, Dr. John Sperati, Kendra Korte, Kirsten Korte, Jacob Sperati, Joshua Sperati and Rebecca Sperati; and two great-grandchildren, Nikolas Eastburn and Jessie Eastburn.
Services will be held Saturday, 2 p.m., at First Lutheran Church, Parkersburg, with the Rev. James Kinsler officiating. Burial will be at a later date, in the Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah, Iowa.
Friends may call at the church on Saturday one hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Lutheran Church or pastoral services at St. Joseph's Hospital.
