LOGAN -- Virginia Lee Holcomb, 67, of Logan, died Thursday, March 14, 2002, in the emergency room at Hocking Valley Community Hospital.
Born April 1, 1934, in Berea, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Linda Williams Pietrocheski.
She is survived by her husband, Franklin Deleno Holcomb.
Private services will be held Monday at Roberts Funeral Home in Logan. Entombment will be in New Fairview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Good Hope Twp., Hocking County.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Bonnie Chevalier
Died: Tuesday, August 14, 2001
REEDSVILLE -- Bonnie Sue Chevalier died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2001.
Born Nov. 3, 1940, in Washington, Ark., she was the daughter of the late John and Olice Stroud.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Lowell D. Chevalier, whom she married on Jan. 17, 1958, in Indio, Calif.; a daughter and son-in-law, Carrie and Dennis Rucker of Reedsville; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeffery and Darla Chevalier of Knoxville, Tenn., and William Edward and Maurice Scott Chevalier of Middleport; and grandchildren Danielle and Brittney Rucker of Reedsville, Alexis and Caroline Chevalier of Knoxville, Amber and Travis Chevalier of Chillicothe, and Christopher and Ashley Chevalier of Marietta.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Marjorie Wright of Hope, Ark., and Barbara Roberts of Palm Springs, Calif.; and two brothers, Robert Stroud and an infant brother, Roger Dale Stroud, both of Hope.
Services will be Friday, 1 p.m., at White-Moquin Funeral Home, Coolville, with Pastor Walter Carney officiating. Burial will be in Reedsville Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Martha Heidtmann
Died: Tuesday, August 14, 2001
ATHENS -- Martha Heidtmann, 94, of Athens, died Tuesday morning, Aug. 14, 2001, at Kimes Convalescent Center, Athens.
Born March 28, 1907, in Jamaica, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late John and Fanny Moritz Vogelbach. Mrs. Heidtmann was a homemaker, and a longtime resident of Westbury and East Norwich, Long Island, N.Y. She and her husband moved to Ohio in 1991. Mrs. Heidtmann was a member of Church of the Advent Episcopal, Westbury, N.Y.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Peter Heidtmann and Linda Collins of Athens, and Denis and Eve Heidtmann of Portland, Ore.; three grandchildren, Stephen Heidtmann of Burbank, Calif., Ann Gadrim of Nelsonville and Evan Heidtmann of Portland; and a great-granddaughter, Sophia Gadrim of Nelsonville.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Wallace H. Heidtmann, who died in March 1998; three sisters, and three brothers.
Memorial graveside services will be conducted at the convenience of the family in Friends Cemetery, Westbury, Long Island.

Lowell Rapp
Died: Tuesday, August 14, 2001
ATHENS -- J. Lowell Rapp, 86, of Athens, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2001, at his home.
He was born April 14, 1915, in Rappsburg, Lawrence County, son of the late Adolphus J. and Edith Massey Rapp.
Lowell graduated from Ironton High School in 1933. That same year, he started working for his stepfather, the late Will Mertz, at Miller Brothers Paint and Wallpaper Store at 54 N. Court St. in Athens.
In 1950, Miller Brothers Store became Rapps Wallpaper and Paint Store at 12 W. Union St. In 1964, he relocated Rapps of Athens to 35 Palmer St., where his son owns and operates it today. Lowell worked and enjoyed waiting on his customers until he was 85 1/2 years old.
In the 1950s, Lowell had a newspaper column in The Athens Messenger called Restyling the News. It was widely enjoyed as he published the birthdays each week of friends and local residents.
He was a founding member and first president of Richland Area Fire Department. He was a member of Athens Masonic Lodge for 50 years, and a member and past president (1973) of Athens County Shrine Club. He was a member of the American Legion for 50 years and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II from 1941 to 1944. For 20 years, Lowell officiated football games in Southeastern Ohio and local basketball games.
He was born on April 14, married on Sept. 14, enlisted in the Army on Dec. 14, and died on Aug. 14.
He is survived by a son, Dennis L. Rapp; a daughter and son-in-law, Delia J. Rapp and Stuart A. McDargh; a grandson, Linzie S. McDargh; three granddaughters, Chiriga Chugi (Frank) Moore, Melissa J. Rapp and Alison C. Rapp; a great-grandson, Wesley A. Moore; three sisters-in-law, Johanna Meeks of Kitts Hill, Betty Pyles of Ironton and Helen Rapp of California, Pa. He leaves many devoted friends and a wealth of great stories.
Besides his parents and stepfather, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda L. Ding Rowe Rapp, in 1995, to whom he had been married for 55 years; four brothers, Daniel C., James, Wilbur A. and Cosper Rapp; and three sisters, Nellie McConnell, Eloise Ours and Margaret Wentz.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m., at Woodland Cemetery in Ironton, with Daniel Rapp officiating.
Arrangements are by Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home in Athens.

Kenneth Taylor
Died: Tuesday, August 14, 2001
NEW STRAITSVILLE -- Kenneth E. Taylor, 51, of New Straitsville, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2001, at Hocking Valley Community Hospital, Logan.
Born Feb. 1, 1950, in Clinton County, he was the son of Mary A. McCall Taylor of Logan and the late Roy E. Taylor.
He is survived by his wife, Joanna Pennington Taylor; and children Kenneth Jr., Johnny and Donny Taylor.
Services will be Saturday, 11 a.m., at Cardaras Funeral Home, Logan. Burial will be in New Fairview Cemetery, Rockbridge.

Delmar Marks
Died: Monday, August 13, 2001
VINTON -- Delmar Ray Marks, 78, of Covered Bridge Road, Vinton, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, at Edgewood Manor Nursing Home.
Born Feb. 17, 1923, in Wellston, he was the son of the late Elza and Mittie Marks.
He is survived by sons Delmar Marks Jr. and Rex Marks of Marion, Wendell Marks of Indiana, and Roger and John Marks of Jackson; daughters Karolyn Sexton and Charlotte Roof of Wellston; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two sisters, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Kathleen Katie Marks; daughters Rosie Marks and Judy Kisor; and several brothers and sisters.
Services will be Thursday, 2 p.m., at No. 10 Christian Captist (Uncle Joe's) Church on Route 124, with the Rev. A.B. Maloy officiating. Burial will be in Curry Cemetery.

Angie Morris
Died: Monday, August 13, 2001
LONG BOTTOM -- Merri Angela Angie Ashe Morris, 47, of 36175 Bashan Road, Long Bottom, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis.
She was born Dec. 30, 1953, in Norfolk, Va., daughter of the late Earl N. and Ruby C. Cannon Ashe.
She is survived by her husband, Clyde R. Morris; daughters Karen Shuler and Crystal Morris; and stepchildren Kevin Morris, Keith Morris and Kelly Shepherd.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Ewing Funeral Home, Pomeroy. Burial will be in Meigs Memory Gardens.

Belva Ann Straten

JACKSON -- Belva Ann Straten, 79, a resident of Four Winds Nursing Facility, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, at Holzer Medical Center.
Born Aug. 2, 1922, in Milton Twp., Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Hulda Napper McKinniss.
She is survived by two sons, John and Richard; and four daughters, Ruby Plummer, Roma Grimes, Wanda Albright and Thabiata Russell.
Besides her parents, he was preceded in death by her husband, James G. Red Straten.
Services will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Jenkins Funeral Chapel in Wellston. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery.

Edna Walker

POMEROY -- Edna W. Walker, 86, of Pomeroy, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, in Pomeroy.
Born Aug. 10, 1015, in Texas Community, Meigs County, she was the daughter of the late William and Lucinda Pooler Wolfe.
She is survived by children Richard L. Bearhs Jr., Sharon Hartman-Tucker, Sheila A. Arnold and Doris I. Muth. She was preceded in death by husbands Richard L. Bearhs Sr., Frank W. Stalder and Melvin H. Walker.
Services will be Thursday, 1 p.m., at Fisher-Acree Funeral Home, Pomeroy. Burial will be in Mount Herman Cemetery.
