Byron "Bud" E. Hart
Died: Tuesday, November 26, 2002
Age: 67
Byron E. "Bud" Hart, 67, of Washington Court House, died Tuesday (Nov. 26, 2002) at Mt. Carmel West. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Lee Mongold Hart. They were married May 19, 1956.
Mr. Hart was born Dec. 25, 1934, in Highland County, son of the late Joel Thomas and Minta Mae Storer Hart. He was a retired farmer.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Brenda (David) Pauley of Sabina; a son, Walter Eldon Hart of Washington Court House; a granddaughter, Miranda Pauley; a step-grandson, Shannon Pauley; three sisters, Alma Jean Knauff of Hillsboro, Norma Lee Stump of Washington Court House; and Christina (Robert) Smith of Jeffersonville; two brothers, John (Thelma) Hart of Nashville and James Wesley (Charlotte) Hart of Mt. Orab; and a sister-in-law, Lottie Wycoff of Washington Court House.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tanya; three sisters, Viola Gillespie, Ethel Igo and Arlena Hart; a brother, Hobart Hart; a sister-in-law, Goldie Melson; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, William Alva and Della Mongold.
Funeral services will be held 3:30 p.m. Sunday at LITTLETON FUNERAL HOME, 104 N. Jackson St., Sabina, with burial in White Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Martha E. Hodge
Died: Tuesday, November 26, 2002
Age: 79
Martha E. Hodge, 79, of Sabina, died Tuesday (Nov. 26, 2002) at her residence. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Hodge, who died in 1998. They were married Dec. 7, 1943.
Mrs. Hodge was born Oct. 8, 1923, in Clinton County, daughter of the late Warren and Hazel Mock Swartz. She was a member of Center United Methodist Church, Women of the Moose and Sabina Senior Citizens.
She is survived by a daughter, Sue (Joe) Monroe of Sabina; two sons, Roger (Ann) Hodge of Sabina and Kenneth Hodge of Clarksburg; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Goldie Swartz of Sabina; and a brother, Raymond Swartz of Hillsboro.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Mildred Pauley, Neva Green and Sylvia Swartz; and a brother, Maynard Swartz.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at LITTLETON FUNERAL HOME, 104 N. Jackson St., Sabina, with burial in Milledgeville-Plymouth Cemetery. Lois Mae Stanforth
Died: Tuesday, November 26, 2002
Age: 79
Lois Mae Stanforth, 79, of Hillsboro, died Tuesday (Nov. 26, 2002) at Highland District Hospital, Hillsboro. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Stanforth, who died Feb. 27, 1982.
Mrs. Stanforth was born Dec. 13, 1922, in Hillsboro, daughter of the late Starley and Ethel Jamison Easter. She worked in the Highland County Recorder's Office, Rocky Fork Lake State Park Camp Office and had worked for several years for Tom Boyle at the Federal Land Bank. She was a member of the Hillsboro First Baptist Church. She was an avid bridge player and belonged to several bridge clubs in Hillsboro.
She is survived by two daughters, Jane (Dan) Kelly of Hillsboro and Sue Walker of Hillsboro; a son, Bob (Linda) Stanforth of Hillsboro; six grandchildren, Amy Kelly, Bill Stanforth, Jodi Mootz, Lori Jordan, Cris Walker and Becki Oglesby, all of Hillsboro; and 11 great-grandchildren, Jesse, Katie, Lindsey, Miranda, Casey, Morgan, Zac, MacKenzie, Bobby, Peyton and Luke.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Mark Kelly, who died May 10, 1982; and a brother, Charles Allen Easter.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the Hillsboro First Baptist Church, 127 S. West St., Hillsboro, the Rev. Todd Toole, the Rev. Larry Stewart and the Rev. Hurd Latimer officiating, with burial in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the TURNER & SON FUNERAL HOME, 602 N. High St., Hillsboro, and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hillsboro First Baptist Church, 127 S. West St., Hillsboro, 45133.
Marianna H. Williams
Died: Friday, November 22, 2002
Age: 77
Marianna H. Williams, 77, of Columbus, died Nov. 22, 2002, at The Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus. Her husband of 54 years, Tennyson Williams, M.D., survives.
Mrs. Williams was born May 11, 1925 in Wilmington, daughter of Ray and Hazel Osborn Hamilton. She graduated in 1947 from The Ohio State University with a bachelor of arts degree in home economics. She resided a long time in Delaware, Ohio. She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church. Formerly, Mrs. Williams was an active member of the Progressive Mothers Club of Delaware and a chairwoman for the Delaware County Republican Party. She was a talented and gifted silk flower and wreath arranger, who enjoyed cooking and loved to read.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Williams is survived by four children, Tracey (Michael) Parrott, Shelle (David) Lindholm, Dayna (Raul) Serna and Matthew (Sally) Williams; and 10 grandchildren.
A memorial service, with Pastor Tom Keene officiating, will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday at Bethel United Methodist Church at 1200 Bethel Road, where family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday. Private inurnment will be held at Kingwood Memorial Park at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to P. Tennyson and Marianna Williams Endowment Fund, c/o O.S.U. reba Mae Penwell
Died: Wednesday, November 20, 2002
Age: 92
Reba Mae Penwell, 92, of Greenfield, died 10:32 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 20, 2002) at Edgewood Manor, Greenfield. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde W. "Red" Penwell, who died Dec. 23, 2001. They were married Oct. 6, 1945.
Mrs. Penwell was born March 6, 1910, in Bainbridge, daughter of the late David and Mina Shoemaker Grogg. She was a homemaker and member of the Red Bud United Brethren Chapel.
She is survived by three daughters, Marlene (Gene) Gillespie of Greenfield, Betty Jackman of Greenfield and Reba "Susie" (Kenneth) Clay of Greenfield; three sons, Floyd (Elizabeth) Bartley of Greenfield, Donald Barley of Greenfield and Lee (Kay) Bartley of New Vienna; a sister, Elsie Smith of Sabina; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Darrell Penwell; a sister, Eva McMullen; and a brother, Stanley Grogg.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at ANDERSON-STRUEVE FUNERAL HOME, 306 S. Washington St., Greenfield, the Rev. Dennis Brewer officiating, with burial in Bainbridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Charles "Chuck" F. Schneider
Died: Wednesday, November 20, 2002
Age: 67
Charles F. "Chuck" Schneider, 67, of Martinsville, died Wednesday (Nov. 20, 2002) at his residence.
Mr. Schneider was born Nov. 26, 1934, in Bronx, N.Y., son of the late Charles F. Sr. and Ellen Delores Laughlin Schneider. He served 22 years in the U.S. Air Force and retired as a master sergeant. His distinguished career included tours of duty during the Vietnam War. He spent his retired years cherishing his grandchildren, family and friends.
He is survived by a son, Charles F. III (Traci) Schneider of Oregonia; two daughters, Michelle Green of Greenwich, Ohio, and Christina (Charles M.) Murdock of Wilmington; a sister, Mary Anne Holland of New York; five grandchildren, Jordan Green, Ciara Murdock, Elexis Murdock, Kaleb Murdock and Seth Murdock; and several nieces, nephews and close friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Nestor.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at REYNOLDS-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 327 N. South St., Wilmington, the Rev. Kurtis L. Summerville officiating.
