Donna L. Newman

Age: 76
Donna L. Newman, 76, of Lebanon, Tenn., formerly of Wilmington, died Saturday (Feb. 2, 2002) in Lebanon, Tenn., following complications of a stroke. Her husband of 54 years, Berlyn F. Newman, preceded her in death on May 10, 1996. They were married Oct. 12, 1942.
Mrs. Newman was born March 13, 1925, in Highland County near New Vienna, daughter of the late Stanley and Mara J. Anderson Morris.
Mrs. Newman is survived by three sons, Larry L. (Nancy) Newman of Hillsboro, Gary F. (Lavon) Newman of Alaska, and Donald E. Newman of Iowa; two daughters, Carol Jean (Steve) Barker of Tennessee and Roxanne L. Newman of Tennessee; two brothers, Jack Morris of Columbus and James Morris of Columbus; three sisters, Eleanor Holaday of Hillsboro, Jeanne Marcum of Fairborn and Carol Wooddell of Blanchester; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; numerous other family and friends; and special caregivers, Mary and Marie.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Newman was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Morris and Wayne Morris.
The funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday at the L. EUGENE SMITH & SON FUNERAL HOME, State Route 73 in New Vienna, Sidney Clay officiating, with interment in the New Vienna I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Frances (Fannie) Ferguson

Age: 92
Frances Fannie Ferguson, 92, of Wilmington, died Friday (Feb. 1, 2002) at her residence. Her husband, Ed Ferguson, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Ferguson was born Nov. 17, 1909, in Elliott County, Ky., daughter of the late Jesse and Jina Lee Cox Fraley.
She is survived by a son, Homer (Agnes) Ferguson of Wilmington; a daughter, Linda (Russ) Taylor of Fairfield; a sister, Eula Greene of Circleville; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Alice Chlotine Simmons; three sisters, Hazel McDonald, Alva Wallace and Bethel Greene; three brothers, Milton Fraley, Taylor Fraley and Ransom Fraley; and two grandsons, Homer Ferguson Jr. and Craig Simmons.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the FISHER-EDGINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 97 W. Locust St., Wilmington, Jesse Fraley officiating, with interment in the Elliott County Memorial Gardens, Sandy Hook, Ky. Nannie W. Nelson

Age: 91
Nannie W. Nelson, 91, of Hillsboro, died Wednesday (Jan. 30, 2002) at Highland District Hospital, Hillsboro. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Nelson.
Mrs. Nelson was born April 13, 1910, in Hillsboro, daughter of the late John Thomas Sr. and Margaret Baker Williams.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the New Hope Baptist Church in Hillsboro, with burial in Hillsboro Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the TURNER & SON FUNERAL HOME, 602 N. High St., Hillsboro.
Verna Mae Hicks
Died: Thursday, January 3, 2002
Age: 72
Verna Mae Hicks, 72, of Wilmington, died 4:55 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 3, 2002) at Clinton Memorial Hospital, Wilmington. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Burnis Hicks.
Mrs. Hicks was born June 3, 1929, in Risner, Ky., daughter of the late James and Sarah Prater Hale. She was a homemaker.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Bill (Shirley) Hicks of Wilmington; three daughters, Carol Vance of Mason, Pam (Edward) Fizer of Sabina and Malesa Smith of Maineville; two brothers, Clyde (Brenda) Hale of Martin, Ky., and Lawrence (Iley) Hale of Prestonsburg, Ky.; six grandchildren, Jeanette (Mike) Coady, Mark Vance, Krista (William) Rowe, Jarrod Hicks, Sarah Fizer and Ashley Fizer; and a great-granddaughter, Corinne Coady.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Hale; and four sisters, Pearly Prater, Thelma Ousley, Okea Haywood and Virginia Adkins.
Funeral services will be held at REYNOLDS-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 327 N. South St., Wilmington, Pastor Kelly D. McInerney officiating, with burial in Miami Cemetery, Corwin.
Eugene Skeens
Died: Saturday, December 8, 2001
Age: 87
Eugene Skeens, 87, of Wilmington, went to be with the Lord on Saturday (Dec. 8, 2001). His wife, Fanny Rachael Cartee Skeens, survives. They were married April 20, 1935.

Harold Eugene Walker

Harold Eugene Walker, 67, of Springfield, formerly of Wilmington, died Saturday (Oct. 13, 2001). His wife, Carol Derr Walker, survives.
Mr. Walker was born June 20, 1934, in Hillsboro, son of the late Donald M. and Helen Vineyard Walker. He was a district manager for Moews Seed Company in Granville, Ill. A 1955 graduate of Wittenberg University, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of the Marine Corps League of Clark County.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Walker of Cincinnati and Melinda Walker of Cincinnati; two sons, Steven Walker of Springfield and Thomas (Jennifer) Walker of Key West, Fla.; two grandchildren, Jack Walker and Jon Daughtry Jr., both of Key West, Fla.; two brothers, James Walker of Blanchester and David (Mary) Walker of Cincinnati; three aunts, Doris Arrasmith, Thelma Perry and Wilma Wilson; and an uncle, Bernard Vineyard.
Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the RICHARDS, RAFF, DUNBAR FUNERAL HOME, 508 E. High St., Springfield. In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations be made in his memory to the Wittenberg Fund, P.O. Box 720, Springfield 45501.
Naoma Finafrock
Died: Friday, October 12, 2001
Naoma K. Hook Finafrock, 71, of Bellbrook, formerly of Xenia, died Friday evening (Oct. 12, 2001) at Miami Valley Hospital where she had been a patient the past four weeks. Her husband, Harold E. Finafrock, survives. They were married July 7, 2000. Her first husband, Oliver W. Hook Jr., preceded her in death on March 25, 1986. They were married Oct. 8, 1948.
Mrs. Finafrock was born Sept. 5, 1930, in Dayton, daughter of George Washington and Alberta Burns Moore. Mrs. Finafrock was reared in Bellbrook. She had been employed at Greene Memorial Hospital in Xenia and later at the Golden Age Senior Citizens Center as its activity director.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Finafrock is survived by three sons, David, Dennis and Donald Hook, all of Xenia; two daughters, Deborah (Mitch) Caskey of New Vienna and Diana (Michael) Stewart of Centerville; four grandchildren, Aaron Caskey, Adrianne Caskey, Brandon Hook and Melissa Stewart; stepdaughter, Cathy Ann (Bob) Pincus of Houston, Texas; two stepgrandchildren, David Pincus and Rachael Pincus; and numerous cousins.
The funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Wednesday at the McCOLAUGH FUNERAL HOME, 826 N. Detroit St. in Xenia, the Rev. Tom Chaffin officiating, with interment in the Bellbrook Cemetery. Hughina Peterson Knowlton, 69, of Florissant, Mo., died Friday (Oct. 12, 2001) in Missouri. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the McCOLAUGH FUNERAL HOME, Xenia. Visitation will be from noon until time of the services Wednesday at the funeral home.
