Earetta B. Baker, 87, of Clarksville, died 10:29 a.m. Thursday (April 24, 2003) at her residence. She is survived by her husband, Melvin Baker. They were married June 7, 1934.
Mrs. Baker was born Oct. 4, 1915, in Waco, Ky., daughter of the late Robert and Effie Warner Friend. She was a member of the Wilmington Church of Christ. She graduated from McGuffey High School in Oxford.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Philip (Nancy) Baker of Clarksville and Stanley (Martha) Baker of Clarksville; two daughters, Joyce (Tullon) Woodruff of New Vienna and Doris Kay (Kelly) Burchett of Lynchburg; two sisters, Anna (Seth) Wilson of Joplin, Mo., and Ethel (Buck) Wilt of Oxford; 15 grandchildren, Donald (Jenny) Woodruff, James (Anne) Woodruff, Janet (Donnie) Gaddis, Marty (Ladonna) Burchett, Tricia (Wade) Murphy, Diana (Bob) Boldon, Scott (Angie) Burchett, Geoffrey Burchett, Kaycie (Jessie) Egner, Andy (Carrie) Baker, Justin Baker, Lindsy Baker, Palmer (Tracy) Addison, Wayne (Michelle) Addison and Chris (Suzanne) Addison; and 27 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Luther Baker; and two sisters, Thelma Clemens and Edna Baker.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at REYNOLDS-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 327 N. South St., Wilmington, Keith Dimbath officiating, with burial in Miami Cemetery, Corwin. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ozark Christian College, in care of Melvin Baker, 2132 Creek Road, Clarksville, 45113, and all donations to the college will be matched by G.E. Aircraft Engine.
Lucille M. Plymire
Died: Wednesday, April 23, 2003
Age: 89
Lucille M. Plymire, 89, of Wilmington, died Wednesday (April 23, 2003) at the Lebanon Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis, who died in 1983.
Mrs. Plymire was born Nov. 8, 1913, daughter of Coleman and Ora McGowan. She retired from farming in 1990. She was a member of the Olive Branch United Methodist Church, women's group of the Olive Branch United Methodist Church, past worthy matron and 50-year member of the Miami chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, past deputy grand matron of District 21 of the E.O.S., Ohio Farm Bureau, Progress Club and a 50-year member of the Grange.
She is survived by a son, Harley (Shirley) Plymire of Wilmington; a daughter, Shirley Ames of Waynesville; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Charles Plymire; a grandson, Frankie Plymire; and a brother, Charles McGowan.
Order of the Eastern Star and funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at STUBBS-CONNER FUNERAL HOME, 185 N. Main St., Waynesville, Pastor Ann Myers officiating, with burial in the Miami Cemetery, Corwin. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Glenn L. Purtee
Died: Tuesday, April 22, 2003
Age: 85
Glenn L. Purtee, 85, of New Vienna, died 3:32 p.m. Tuesday (April 22, 2003) at Clinton Memorial Hospital, Wilmington. He is survived by his second wife, Ruby E. Purtee. They were married June 1, 1974. He was married to his first wife, Sarah "Sally" Ward, for 35 years.
Mr. Purtee was born Sept. 18, 1917, in Clinton County, son of the late Asa and Mae Estella Foster Purtee. He retired in 1983 from the U.S. Postal Service, after serving many years as a letter carrier in the New Vienna area. He was a bus driver for many years for the East Clinton and Wilmington City schools. He also drove for the Wilmington City Cab Service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served during World War II. He graduated in 1936 from the New Vienna High School.
In addition to his second wife, he is survived by a daughter, Pamela (Earl David) BoCook of New Vienna; two stepsons, Maurice Hartsook of Sarasota, Fla., and Christopher (Debra) Hartsook of Seaman; three stepdaughters, Barbara (John) Chadwick of Martinsburg, JoEllen (John) Ferullo of Sarasota, Fla., and Karen (Melvin) Wade of Greenfield; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, George Purtee, and a sister, Elizabeth Cole.
Services will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Wilmington, 4394 SR 73 South, Wilmington, Pastor Roy Lawinski officiating, with burial in New Antioch Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 49 memorial squad. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of L. EUGENE SMITH & SON FUNERAL HOME, 64 S. South St., New Vienna.
Robert Wells
Died: Monday, April 21, 2003
Age: 70
Robert Wells, 70, of Wilmington, died 4:35 a.m. Monday (April 21, 2003) at his residence. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Hater Wells. They were married July 23, 1960.
Mr. Wells was born Feb. 19, 1933, in New Hampshire, son of the late William A. Sr. and Teresa C. Wells. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and Vietnam Conflict. After he retired, he worked for O.K.T. Colson Publishing Company and the Defense Electric Supply Company (DESC). He retired from DESC in 1990. In 1980, he purchased Hater's Lock and Key Service from his father-in-law, George B. Hater. He owned and operated the business until 1990. He was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, William G. (Tina) Wells of Wilmington and Timothy R. (Tammy) Wells of Hillsboro; two brothers, William A. Wells Jr. and Edward Wells; a sister, Linda Floyd; three grandchildren, Jessica Wells, Tyler Wells and Nicholas Wells; three stepgrandchildren, Christopher McIntosh, Erica McIntosh and Tiffany McIntosh; and his mother-in-law, Helen M. Hater.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Columbkille Catholic Church, 73 N. Mulberry St., Wilmington, the Rev. James M. Wedig officiating, with burial in Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wilmington. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at REYNOLDS-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 327 N. South St., Wilmington. Edna M. Cramer Long

Age: 88
Edna M. Cramer Long, 88, of Edenton, died Saturday (April 19, 2003) at Hospice of Cincinnati, Blue Ash. Her husband, William I. Long, died April 23, 2000.
Mrs. Long was born Sept. 18, 1914, in Edenton, daughter of the late Floyd Cramer and Zellah Jones. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Edenton.
She is survived by two children, Gary R. (Pat) Long of Roaming Shores and Joyce Conley of Edenton; four grandchildren, Brad Long, Shelley Samsa, Wynn White and Beth Barnett; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Cramer; and a sister, Nola Dumford.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the TUFTS SCHILDMEYER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Main St., Blanchester, the Rev. Gerald Deucker officiating, with burial in Plainview Cemetery, Newtonsville. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church of Edenton or the Wayne Township Fire and Rescue Department.
Charles "Hank" Faul Sr.
Died: Saturday, April 19, 2003
Age: 80
Charles "Hank" Faul Sr., 80, of Wilmington, died Saturday (April 19, 2003) at Clinton Memorial Hospital. His wife, Edith Mae Ausman Faul, preceded him in death.
Mr. Faul was was born Nov. 23, 1922, in Brown County, son of the late William and Vera Wardlow Faul. He was a life member of Wilmington VFW Post 6710. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and had been a farmer and was retired from the County Highway Department.
He is survived by four sons, Charles H. Jr. (Maureen) Faul of Lynchburg, Robert D. Faul of Wilmington, James M. (Rita) Faul of Wilmington and John E. (Deborah) Faul of Martinsville; a special friend, David Conger of Wilmington; a brother, Earl Faul of Hillsboro; 17 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Melvin Lewis Faul and Kenneth Wayne Faul, who was killed in Vietnam; a sister, Gladys Willet; and a brother, John David Faul.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the FISHER-EDGINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 97 W. Locust St., Wilmington, the Rev. Elizabeth Looney officiating, with burial in the New Antioch Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 49 memorial squad. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the donor's favorite charity, in Mr. Faul's memory.
