William E. Dalton

Age: 75
William E. Dalton Sr., 75, of Wilmington, died 3:08 a.m. Monday (April 14, 2003) at Clinton Memorial Hospital. His wife, Marietta Dalton, preceded him in death on March 20, 1994.
Mr. Dalton was born April 26, 1927, in Clinton County, son of the late Mildred McCoy. He was retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Mr. Dalton served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Dalton is survived by three sons, James C. (Jackie) Tipton of Wilmington, Donald (Lana) Dalton of Wilmington and William (Bessie) Dalton Jr. of Wilmington; three daughters, Barbara (Virgil) Smith of Springfield, Mickie Marconett and Jerry Lykins of Wilmington and Teena (Tom) Smith of Wilmington; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and special friend, Loma McCoy of Lumberton.
In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. Dalton was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Dalton; and two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
The funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Friday at the REYNOLDS-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 327 N. South St. in Wilmington, Larry Barker officiating, with interment in the Sugar Grove Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 49 memorial squad at the cemetery. Friends may call between 6 and 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Fred L. Earley

Age: 79
Fred L. Earley, 79, of Jamestown, died Sunday morning (April 13, 2004) at
Hospice of Dayton. His wife of 61 years, Martha Carter Earley, survives.
Mr. Earley was born Dec. 23, 1923, in Foster, of Lowell and Lela Rose Weis Earley. He was a retired automobile salesman. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and member of the Jamestown Masonic Lodge, Wilbur Thomas American Legion Post 155 and Cooper Jordan VFW Post 2402. He was a 1941 graduate of Silvercreek High School.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a nephew, Alan Womacks; five brothers, Ronald (Mary Ellen) Earley of New Vienna, Richard Earley of New Antioch, Harry (Doris Jean) Earley of Sabina, Gary (Kathryn) Earley of Sabina and Kenneth (Linda) Earley of Port William; two sisters, Phyllis (Clarence) Wall of Xenia and Jean (Mike) Mason of Port William; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Jamestown Presbyterian Church USA, with burial in the Silvercreek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the POWERS FUNERAL HOME, Jamestown, where Masonic services will be held at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
Lester K. Ellis
Died: Sunday, April 13, 2003
Age: 90
Lester K. Ellis, 90, of Wilmington, died 11:25 a.m. Sunday (April 13, 2003) at Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington. His wife, Florence L. Ellis, survives. They were married Sept. 9, 1939.
Mr. Ellis was born June 8, 1912, in Clinton County, son of the late Samuel and Goldie Kirby Ellis. He was a lifelong farmer, and was a member of the Clinton County Farm Bureau and the Clinton County Antique Power Club. Mr. Ellis was a past member of the Clinton County Corn Festival Committee, a past member and past president of the Simon Kenton School Board. A member of Fairview Friends Meeting, he graduated from Kingman High School and attended Wilmington College.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Ellis is survived by two sons, Wayne (Sue) Ellis of Wilmington and Ken Ellis of Clarksville; a daughter-in-law, Loraine Morris of Springboro; a sister, Dorothy (Clifford) Gasaway of Wilmington; four grandchildren, Tim (Jill) Ellis, Keith (Sabrina) Ellis, Scott Ellis and Chris Ellis; and four great-grandchildren, Josiah Ellis, Carmen Ellis, John Wayne Ellis and Kristin Dawn Ellis.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ellis was preceded in death by a son, Robert Ellis; three brothers, Allen Ellis, Donald Ellis and Charles Ellis; and two sisters, Lucille Klontz and Christina Cain.
The funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday at the REYNOLDS-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 327 N. South St. in Wilmington, James Zuehlke and Edwin Lane officiating, with interment in the Sugar Grove Cemetery in Wilmington. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. George W. Eury
Died: Saturday, April 12, 2003
George W. Eury of Goshen died Saturday (April 12, 2003) at his residence. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Smith Eury.
He was a veteran of the Army Air Force, having served in World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 199. He was a beloved husband, devoted father and cherished grandfather, step-grandfather and great-grandfather.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, George Wayne (Lois) Eury; a daughter, Suzette (Don) Volkmar; four grandchildren; a stepgrandchild; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Lenora Minton; and two brothers, Robert Eury and Amos Eury.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Eury.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the JOHN. H EVANS FUNERAL HOME, 1944 state Route 28, Goshen, with visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the services. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Artie V. McAllister
Died: Thursday, July 4, 2002
Age: 76
Artie V. McAllister, 76, of Rarden, died Thursday (July 4, 2002) at the Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth. He is survived by his wife, Gladys Williams McAllister, whom he married May 26, 1945.
He was born Jan. 6, 1926, in Pike County, son of the late Hollie and Ora Sheldon McAllister. He was a member of the Rarden Church of the Nazarene, where he served as church treasurer for 18 years. He was the owner/operator of a McAllister General Store from 1964 to 1980 in the Rarden community. He is a graduate of Rarden High School. He was a former employee of the Randall Company in Wilmington, and was a former lake patrolman at Cowan Lake, and served on the Wilmington Fire Department. He was an avid hunter of all kinds of wild game, but especially loved hunting deer with his son Roger.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by a son, Roger (Brenda) McAllister of Rarden; a daughter, Leah (Douglas) Hill of New Carlisle; a sister, Jessie Williams of Waverly; five grandchildren, Rhonda Courtney, Jenny Sowards, Lisa Damron, and Tracy and Bill McAllister; and eight great-grandchildren, Elly, Ronnie, Brittany, Denise, Lisa, C.J., Amber and Justin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Hobart, Waldo and Tunney McAllister; and two sisters, Audrey Covert Stoll and Garnet Mitchell.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Rarden Church of the Nazarene, ministers Danny Campbell and Larry Williams officiating, with burial in Mt. Joy Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at BOTKIN FUNERAL HOME, 6500 State Route 348, Otway, and 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rarden Church of the Nazarene.
William E. Katter
Died: Monday, July 1, 2002
Age: 65
William E. Katter, 65, of Wilmington, died Monday (July 1, 2002) at Clinton Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Katter of Wilmington.
Mr. Katter was born Oct. 27, 1936, in Cincinnati, son of the late Orlando E. Katter and Lucille Luckado Katter. He was a member of the Wilmington Elks Lodge and the Wilmington Eagles Lodge. He was also past president and board member of the Ohio Valley Lumber Drying Association.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Karen (Rick) Patterson of Cincinnati and Allison Katter of Cincinnati; a brother, Orlando E. (Marlene) Katter of Fort Mill, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at Arlington Memorial Gardens in Cincinnati, Lawrence Barker officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Clinton County, 61 E. Main St., Wilmington, 45177.
