Age: 76
Alfred W. Dixson Sr., 76, of Columbus, originally of Washington Court House, went to his eternal reward Thursday (Aug. 14, 2003) at his home. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Dixson.
Mr. Dixon was born son of the late Robert and Naomi Dixon. He was a member of St. Ladislas Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines. He was a devoted ham radio operator WB8SRN.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Marcia (Kevin) Stevenson, Deborah Morrison, Patricia Dixson and Vanessa (Bruce) McKee; two sons, Alfred Jr. (Misty) Dixson and Matthew (Miya) Dixson; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, David (Deborah) Dixson of California; six sisters, Roberta Burnett, Wuanita Martin, Doris Harris, Sophie Johnson, Judyth Brown and Janice Dixson; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Gwendolyn Adams.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ladislas Church, 277 Reeb Ave., Columbus, Father John Stattmiller celebrant, with interment in Franklin Hills Memory Gardens, Columbus. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at COOK & SON-PALLAY FUNERAL HOME, 1631 Parsons Ave., Columbus.
James E. Wright
Died: Wednesday, August 13, 2003
Age: 64
James E. Wright, 64, of Hillsboro, died Wednesday morning (Aug. 13, 2003) at his home. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Groves Wright.
Mr. Wright was born Jan. 12, 1939, near Lynchburg, son of the late Everett “Shorty” and Carrie Raley Wright. He had worked for Blue Flame Gas Company in Sabina for 26 years and was a life-long farmer. He had served in the Ohio National Guard.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Steve (Marena) Wright of Martinsville, Keith (Nancy) Wright of Maple City, Mich., and Rick (Tina) Musser of Hillsboro; a daughter, Rhonda (Ernie) Carey of Hillsboro; 10 grandchildren, Jessica, Jennifer, Keith II, Natalie, Ashley, Gerriant, Sara, Ricky, Todd and Lucas; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Anne W. Stamps of Hillsboro, Bette (Bob) Beam of Williamsburg, Shirley J. (John) Newman of Hillsboro and Carol E. (Mike) Moses of Hillsboro; and a brother, Ronald W. (Jane) Wright of Washington Court House.
Graveside services for friends and family will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday at Resthaven Memory Gardens. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of TURNER & SON FUNERAL HOME, 602 N. High St., Hillsboro.
Charles Rodger Cummings
Died: Tuesday, August 12, 2003
Age: 65
Charles Rodger Cummings, 64, of Port William, died 10:30 a.m. Tuesday (Aug. 12, 2003) at his residence. He is survived by his wife, Helen Kay Nichols Cummings. They celebrated 39 years of marriage on Aug. 10.
Mr. Cummings was born March 19, 1939, in Martinsville, son of the late Lawrence and Alta Shaw Cummings. He was a tool and die machinist until his retirement from American Tool and Die Company in Wilmington. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served from 1961 to 1964 in the Second Armored Division, “Hell on Wheels.”
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, LeRoy (Mary) Cummings of Springboro and Charles “Bobby” Cummings of Port William; two daughters, Tamara (Paul) Thompson of Wilmington and Margaret (Roy) Evans of Wilmington; a stepmother-in-law, Maureene Nichols of Blanchester; a sister-in-law, Pat Nichols of Wisconsin; a sister, Leora Jean (Gene) Rinehart of Cape Coral, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Dean Nichols of Iowa City, Iowa; 16 grandchildren, Derek, Dustin, Vincent Wayne, Justin, Rodger, Jermey, James, John, Scott, Brian, Charles, Christopher, Vanessa, Robert, Valerie and Mike; three great-grandchildren, Carley, Branden and Daven; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Donald Nichols.

Eldon Edwin Wilkerson Jr.
Died: Tuesday, August 12, 2003
Eldon Edwin Wilkerson Jr. died Tuesday (Aug. 12, 2003) in an automobile accident in Clarksville, Tenn. His wife, Jacqueline Phillips Wilkerson, also died in the accident.
Mr. Wilkerson was born June 20, 1943, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon E. Wilkerson Sr. of Clarksville, Ohio. He graduated in 1960 from Clarksville High School in Clarksville, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 to 1964 as a member of the military police. After leaving the Air Force, he remained in police work in Ohio and Tennessee and obtained the rank of sergeant. At the time of his death, he was head of security for Capitol Buildings in Nashville. In his youth, he was an active member of the Clarksville (Ohio) United Methodist Church. At the time of his death, he was a member of Bellview Community Baptist Church in Nashville. He was a member of the Scottish Rites Order of the Masonic Lodge in Nashville. He also was a Shriner and a member of fraternal orders of the Nashville police and security associations.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a son, David Edwin (Stacy) Wilkerson of Michigan; a daughter, Michelle Wilkerson Freischmidt of Alaska; a stepdaughter, Leslie Phillips Mims of Tennessee; a sister, Judith Retsema of Clarksville, Ohio; five grandchildren; a niece; and two nephews.

John "J.D." David Martin
Died: Sunday, August 10, 2003
Age: 32
John David “J.D.” Martin, 32, of Midland, died Sunday (Aug. 10, 2003) in Lynchburg. He is survived by his wife, Angela Patrick Martin.
Mr. Martin was born Sept. 25, 1970, son of Gary Brent and Sandra Fay Baker Martin.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by six children, Kristen, Lindsay, John, Laura, Jacob and Sarah Martin; a sister, Debora Brown; and brother, Gary Martin; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Randy and Phyllis Patrick.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at TUFTS SCHILDMEYER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1668 SR 28, Goshen, the Rev. Kenneth Molter officiating, with burial in Goshen Cemetery, Goshen. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Ray H. Dixon
Died: Saturday, August 09, 2003
Age: 75
Ray H. Dixon, 75, of Wilmington, died Saturday (Aug. 9, 2003) at Kettering Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cleo Arlene Bayless, who died May 20, 1997. They were married Sept. 22, 1947.
Mr. Dixon was born Aug. 27, 1927, in Monterey, Tenn., son of the late William Clark and Ollie Jane Ford Dixon. He had retired from Clinton Asphalt and Paving Company.
He is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Floyd) Chesser of Cardington and Jenny (Pat) Carey of Marengo; a son, Randy H. (Janet) Dixon of Wilmington; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Gracie Ruth Moore of Marengo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Jo Hazel Lawson and Bobbie Dixon; and three brothers, Alvin C., Vernon and Elmer Dixon.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at LITTLETON FUNERAL HOME, 104 N. Jackson St., Sabina, with burial in Maple Grove Cemetery, Port William. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
