Dora Lee Tanner Brittingham

Age: 73
Dora Lee Tanner Brittingham, 73, of Sabina, was called home to be with her Lord Monday (Dec. 8, 2003) at her residence. Her husband, Leonard Brittingham, survives.
Mrs. Brittingham was born March 13, 1930, in Spencer, W.Va., daughter of the late Roy Edward and Caroline Blosser Tanner.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children, Robert Bassett of Sabina, Janet Frausto of Sabina, Larry Goff of Sabina and Harley (Sonny) Goff of Kentucky; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Rosa (Bill) Johnston of Jeffersonville; two brothers, John (Joy) Tanner of Jeffersonville and Ross (Beulah) Tanner of Sabina; two stepbrothers, John and Larry Campbell of Jeffersonville; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at LITTLETON FUNERAL HOME, 104 N. Jackson St., Sabina, with burial in the Sabina Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until time of the services Friday at the funeral home.
Shirley A. Valentine
Died: Monday, December 08, 2003
Age: 67
Shirley A. Valentine, 67, of Patriot, formerly of New Holland, died Monday (Dec. 8, 2003) at Highland District Hospital, Hillsboro. Her husband, Austin Allen “John” Valentine, died in 1979.
Mrs. Valentine was born Nov. 5, 1936, in Proctorville, daughter of William and Mary Ellen Black Roose Knight. She was retired as general manager of the Deer Creek Country Trader. She was a 1954 graduate of Proctorville High School where she was valedictorian.
She is survived by two daughters, Clare Ann (Robert) Goldsberry of Clarksburg and Mary Ellen (Robert) Bowers of New Holland; a son, Charles “Bud” Eastes of New Vienna; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill Knight of Minot, N.D.; and very special friends, Chuck and Sharon Selman of Patriot.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Florence.
Following cremation, there will be a graveside burial service at a later date in the New Holland Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of LITTLETON FUNERAL HOME, 104 N. Jackson St., Sabina.
Henry D. Henthorn
Died: Monday, December 08, 2003
Age: 78
Henry D. Henthorn, 78, of Sabina, died 7:35 a.m. Monday (Dec. 8, 2003) at Fayette Memorial Hospital. His wife, Betty L. Minzler Henthorn, survives. They were married Dec. 24, 1955.
Mr. Henthorn was born Nov. 1, 1925, in Proctor, W.Va., son of James M. and Nora Jane Henry Henthorn. He was retired from Conchemco Manufacturing of Sabina and also was a former employee of Mac Tools. A World War II Navy veteran, he was a member of the Sabina Moose Lodge and American Legion Post 25.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children, Dana (Erma) Henthorn of Sabina, Darlene (Brett Jordan) Bennett of New Vienna, Brad Henthorn of Wilmington, Andy (Jodi) Henthorn of New Vienna, Reta (Gary) Robertson of Port Clinton and Mary (Dennis) Woods of Rainsboro; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; three sisters, Linda (Bill) Nickerson of Stafford, Va., Hazel Hitchcock of Wheeling, W.Va. and Freda (Norman) South of Tennessee; and a brother, Leroy (Joan) Henthorn of Midwest City, Okla.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Clara Pozue, Dorothy Gritz, Ruthanna Henthorn and Bessie Henthorn; and a brother, Arthur Henthorn.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at LITTLETON FUNERAL HOME, 104 N. Jackson St., Sabina, with burial in the Sabina Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Dorothy H. Benlehr Bond
Died: Sunday, December 07, 2003
Age: 90
Dorothy H. Benlehr Bond, 90, of Wilmington, died Sunday (Dec. 7, 2003) at Clinton Memorial Hospital. Her husband, Walter E. Bond, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Bond was born May 10, 1913, in Clinton County, daughter of the late Earl Wire and Myrta Sprague Benlehr. She was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ.
She is survived by a daughter, Sue (James) Demmery of Wilmington; two sons, Mark (Rhonda) Bond of Wilmington and Matt Bond of Florida; a sister, Mary Kirby of Florida; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, John E. Bond; and a sister, Ada Birmingham.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at Sugar Grove Cemetery at the convenience of the family, with James Demmery offering words of comfort. There will be no visitation. FISHER-EDGINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 97 W. Locust St., is handling the arrangements.
Daniel Carter Denny
Died: Sunday, December 07, 2003
Daniel Carter Denny, 3 months, of Springboro, passed away Sunday (Dec. 7, 2003) at home after a three-month stay in Children’s Hospital, Cincinnati.
He was born Sept. 11, 2003, son of David and Martha Smith Denny.
In addition to his parents, he leaves two brothers, Joey and Nathan Denny; paternal grandparents Charles and Judy Denny of Wilmington; maternal grandparents Richard and Pat Smith of Glendale and Carol Smith of Fairfield.
Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. today at the Miami Cemetery in Corwin. Contributions may be made to the Daniel Denny Memorial Fund, c/o Children’s Hospital, attention: Sally Hutchinson, 3333 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, 45229-3039. Arrangements are being handled by ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME, Springboro.
Charles "Bud" Ruddock
Died: Friday, December 05, 2003
Age: 83
Charles “Bud” Rudduck, 83, of Sabina, died Friday (Dec. 5, 2003) surrounded by his family at his residence. His wife, Helen M. Smith Rudduck, survives. They were married March 11, 1939.
Mr. Rudduck was born May 13, 1920, in Clinton County, son of the late Charley I. Rudduck and Marie Hartsock Rudduck Heizer. He lived his entire life in Clinton County. He was a farmer and an owner, trainer and driver of standardbred horses. He worked for 17 years at Randall Company and three years for the Wilmington News Journal. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting with his dogs, caring for his animals and raising a large garden every year.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children, Patricia Roberts of Churchville, Md., Charles “Buck” (Linda) Rudduck of Clarksville, Sandy (Butch Cummings) Helterbran of Jamestown, Peggy Ann (Mike) Faul of Jamestown, Franklin “Butch” (Sheila West) Rudduck of Sabina and Linda Hughes of Sabina; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; three siblings, Bettie Gordon of New Holland, William (Ruth Ellen) Rudduck of Wilmington and Wayne (Betty Mae) Rudduck of Washington Court House; a brother-in-law, Ansel “Junior” Kirkpatrick; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Kirkpatrick; three sons-in-law, Dick Creditt, Roger Hughes and Jim Roberts; a grandson, Tony Summers; two nephews, Bill Garrison and Gary Kirkpatrick; and two brothers-in-law, Joe Gordon and Harold Lee “Berry” Smith.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at FISHER-EDGINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 97 W. Locust St., Wilmington, with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Bowersville. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Hospice of Dayton or the American Cancer Society.
Charles Ray Gallagher

Age: 82
Charles Ray Gallagher, 82, of Wilmington, died Thursday at James Cancer Center, Columbus. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Palmer Gallagher, who died Jan. 6, 1993. They were married Aug. 17, 1946.
Mr. Gallagher was born Sept. 11, 1921, in Blanchester, son of Charles Francis and Lois Anna Craig Gallagher. He as a retired standardbred horse trainer and driver. He was a member of the Wilmington American Legion Post 49. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He graduated in 1940 from Sabina High School.
He is survived by a daughter, Ann Collen (Bill) Williams of Wilmington; two sons, Dennis Michael (Katie) Gallagher of West Chester and Brian Flynn Gallagher of Wilmington; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Mary Gallgher of Washington Court House.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a stepson, John Francis Cunningham; a daughter, Mary Gillian Gallagher; a brother, Dana Gallagher; and a sister, Jean F. Gallagher.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday at LITTLETON FUNERAL HOME, 104 N. Jackson St., Sabina, with burial in New Antioch Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Clinton County, 61 E. Main St., Wilmington, 45177.
Omeda E. Wallace

Age: 73
Omeda E. Wallace, 73, of Martinsville, died Thursday (Dec. 4, 2003) at Clinton Memorial Hospital. She is survived by her husband, James Wallace of Martinsville. They were married Jan. 23, 1954.
Mrs. Wallace was born March 13, 1930, in Lee County, Ky., daughter of late William Caudell and Lennie Rivers Cornett Caudell Baker.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Lynn (Lee) Swearingen of Wilmington and Judy (Michael) Pauley of Martinsville; three sons, Tommy Wallace, Clarence Wallace and Frank Wallace, all of Wilmington; seven grandsons; a granddaughter; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Billy Wallace and Vergil E. Wallace; two sisters; and three brothers.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at FISHER-EDGINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 97 W. Locust St., Wilmington, the Rev. Eugene Fields officiating, with burial in West Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in care of the funeral home.
