Howard John Hadley

Age: 92
Howard John Hadley, 92, of 290 Prairie Ave., Wilmington, formerly a longtime resident of Harrison Township, Montgomery County, died 10 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 10, 2002) at Clinton Memorial Hospital, Wilmington. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen Carey Hadley.
Mr. Hadley was born the oldest son of the late Everett and Ethel Crites Hadley. He was retired from the Frigidaire Division of General Motors. He was a member of the Dayton Gem and Mineral Society and of the Wilmington Friends Meeting.
He is survived by a brother, Theodore (Inabelle) Hadley of Tucson, Ariz.; three sisters-in-law, Margaret Hadley of Wilmington, Josephine Harner of Wilmington and Rhoda Hadley of Indianapolis, Ind.; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Herbert Hadley, James Hadley, Jesse Hadley, Franklin Hadley and Charles Hadley; and a sister, Anna Lewis.
Graveside services will be held 3:30 p.m. today at Springfield Friends Cemetery, Todds Fork Road, Wilmington, James Ellis officiating. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m. today at REYNOLDS-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 327 N. South St., Wilmington. Wilma Ludwick Eubanks
Died: Saturday, November 9, 2002
Age: 94
Wilma Ludwick Eubanks, 94, of Heartland of Oakridge in Miamisburg, formerly of Wilmington and the Carmel-Marshall communities in Highland County, died Saturday (Nov. 9, 2002). She was preceded in death by her husband Fay, Feb. 18, 1980. The couple was married Dec. 24, 1932.
She was born May 7, 1908, in Highland County, daughter of the late Scott and Nellie Roush Ludwick. She taught school in Carmel, Marshall and Belfast for 39 years. She was a member of the Wilmington Church of Christ, and was a graduate of Wilmington College. She
and her husband lived 49 years on the home place near Carmel on Eubanks Lane. After retirement in 1978, they moved to Wilmington. In 1995, Wilma moved to Heartland, where she lived until her death.
She is survived by two daughters, Janet (Richard) Mitchener of Wilmington, and Jody (Elbert) Grabill of Miamisburg; six grandchildren, Beverly Farris, Chris Grabill, Vic Grabill, Diane Marshall, Michelle Fast and Denece Ritchie; four stepgrandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved very much.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Ludwick.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at the FISHER-EDGINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 97 W. Locust St., with Keith Dimbath officiating, and burial in Cynthiana Cemetery at noon. Don H. Ruble
Died: Saturday, November 9, 2002
Age: 88
Don H. Ruble, 88, of New Vienna, formerly of Lynchburg, died Saturday (Nov. 9, 2002) at University Hospital of Cincinnati. He is survived by his wife, Opal Tolliver Ruble. They were married April 10, 1976.
Mr. Ruble was born Oct. 21, 1914, in Lynchburg, son of the late William and Stella Ruble. He was a retired farmer, having farmed his entire life in the Lynchburg and New Vienna areas. He also owned a trucking company, Don Ruble Trucking, which hauled stone. He was a member of the Mt. Olive Church of Christ.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Dean L. (Linda) Ruble of New Vienna; three stepsons, Cary (Linda) Bowles of Lynchburg, Va., Anthony (Bonnie) Bowles of Urbana and Timothy (Barb) Purtee of New Vienna; two stepdaughters, Lou Ellen (Roger) Wilson of Xenia and Debra (William) Thorman of Washington Court House; two grandchildren, Deanna Ruble and Alexis Ruble; and seven stepgrandchildren, Sheila Mickle, Timothy Wilson, Richard Bowles, Amy Weekley, Matthew Bowles, Brandi Owings and Tammy Bowles; and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Madge Williams and Kay Rowland.
Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at L. EUGENE SMITH AND SON FUNERAL HOME, 64 S. South St., New Vienna, with burial in the Lynchburg Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Clinton-Highland Joint Fire Department and Life Squad, 97 W. Main St., New Vienna, 45159.
Benjamin Leroy Snyder
Died: Sunday, November 3, 2002
Age: 55
Benjamin Leroy Snyder, 55, of Midway, Ark., died Sunday (Nov. 3, 2002) in Maple Park, Ill.
Mr. Snyder was born June 6, 1947, in Cincinnati, son of Viola Vinson Snyder and the late Wilfred Snyder. He was a self-employed painter. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two daughters, Shelly (Nevin) McCune and Nikki Snyder; four grandchildren, Zachery McCune, Cody McCune, Brady McCune and Jordan Snyder; three sisters, Dorathy Hodge, Thelma Caseltine and Myrna Burgin; and a brother, Richard Snyder.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Snyder.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at EVANS FUNERAL HOME, 1944 SR 28, Goshen, the Rev. Richard Snyder officiating, with burial in Stonelick Township Cemetery, Owensville. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Dennis George Hook
Died: Saturday, November 2, 2002
Age: 49
Dennis George Hook, 49, of Xenia, died Saturday (Nov. 2, 2002) at Hospitality West Nursing Center after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's.
Mr. Hook was born Sept. 24, 1953, in Xenia, son of the late Oliver W. Hook Jr. and Naoma Kathaleen Moore Hook-Finafrock. He graduated in 1972 from Xenia High School.
He is survived by two sisters, Diana (Michael) Stewart of Centerville and Deborah (Mitch) Caskey of New Vienna; two brothers, Donald Hook and David Hook, both of Xenia; two nieces and two nephews, Aaron and Adrianne Caskey, Brandon Hook and Melissa Stewart; his stepfather, Harold Finafrock of Bellbrook; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the McCOLAUGH FUNERAL HOME, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia, with burial in Bellbrook Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Hook's honor to the Michael J. Vurnes Eugene Bailey
Died: Friday, November 1, 2002
Age: 69
Vurnes Eugene Bailey, 69, of Hawthorne, Fla., formerly of Wilmington and Gainesville, Fla., died Friday (Nov. 1, 2002) at his home. He is survived by his wife, Joanne Paulson Bailey of Hawthorne.
Mr. Bailey was born in Wilmington. He was a retired division manager at Sears. He was a member of the Eden Baptist Church and loved bowling, hunting, fishing and golf. He served during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Marine Corps.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Vurnes Eugene Bailey Jr. of Melrose, Fla., and Donald Lee Bailey of Hawthorne; a brother, Zane Bailey of Xenia; a sister, Janet Williamson of Greenville, S.C.; and five grandchildren.
