Charles "Hank" Faul Sr.

Age: 80
Charles "Hank" Faul Sr., 80, of Wilmington, died Saturday (April 19, 2003) at Clinton Memorial Hospital. His wife, Edith Mae Ausman Faul, preceded him in death.
Mr. Faul was was born Nov. 23, 1922, in Brown County, son of the late William and Vera Wardlow Faul. He was a life member of Wilmington VFW Post 6710. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and had been a farmer and was retired from the County Highway Department.
He is survived by four sons, Charles H. Jr. (Maureen) Faul of Lynchburg, Robert D. Faul of Wilmington, James M. (Rita) Faul of Wilmington and John E. (Deborah) Faul of Martinsville; a special friend, David Conger of Wilmington; a brother, Earl Faul of Hillsboro; 17 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Melvin Lewis Faul and Kenneth Wayne Faul, who was killed in Vietnam; a sister, Gladys Willet; and a brother, John David Faul.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the FISHER-EDGINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 97 W. Locust St., Wilmington, the Rev. Elizabeth Looney officiating, with burial in the New Antioch Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 49 memorial squad. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the donor's favorite charity, in Mr. Faul's memory.
William "Bill" C. Liston

Age: 84
William C. "Bill" Liston, 84, of Xenia, died Saturday (April 19, 2003) at Hospice of Dayton. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 32 years, Norma J. McKamey Heinz Liston of Xenia. They were married Sept. 4, 1970. His first wife, Orpha Wilson Swadener, preceded him in death.
Mr. Liston was born May 14, 1918, in Jeffersonville, son of the late Herman and Evelyn Pendall Liston. He retired from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Motorpool in 1980 after 30 years of service. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He volunteered for five years at the Golden Age Senior Citizen Center, and until recently drove for various car dealers in Xenia. He enjoyed bowling, working in his yard and spending time with his family. He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Xenia.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his ex-wife, Elaine Burba Liston; four children, Carolyn (Bill) Carroll of Fairborn, Richard (Betty) Liston of Xenia, Gerald (Victoria) Liston of Bellbrook and Robert (Becky) Liston of Cedarville; four stepchildren, Vicki (Larry) Hilderbrand of Xenia, Cindy (Dave) Fisher of Xenia, Debra (R.B.) Jones of Waynesville and Chris (Susan) Heinz of Xenia; 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Jim Lane.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Church of Christ, 441 Ledbetter Road, Xenia, the Rev. R. James "Pete" Creamer officiating, with burial in Woodland Cemetery, Xenia. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Harold Estel Fisher
Died: Thursday, October 16, 2003
Harold Estel Fisher, 85, of Wilmington, formerly of New Vienna, died 7:15 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 16, 2003) at Bellbrook Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. His wife, Evelyn Thornburg Fisher, survives. They were married Oct. 23, 1947.
Mr. Fisher was born May 8, 1918, in Clinton County, son of the late Howard D. and Clistie Carey Fisher. He was an industrial arts teacher for more than 25 years. He also farmed for most of his life. After retiring, he was a salesman for Bailey-Murphy Real Estate Company. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during World War II. A 1936 graduate of Wayne Township High School, he received his bachelor and master’s degrees in industrial education from Miami University, where he was a member of the Epsilon Pi Tau Honorary Professional Fraternity. He was a birthright member of the Fairview Friends Meeting and was a member of the F&AM Dalton Lodge 578.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Gordon (Freya) Fisher of Vienna, Va.; three daughters, Brenda Fisher of Wilmington, Gail (Mike) Hamilton of Columbus and Carolyn (Loren) Puckett of Washington Court House; three brothers, Howard (Sarah) Fisher of New Vienna, Henry Fisher of New Vienna and John (Nicole) Fisher of Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister, Mary Jane Burgess of Leesburg; and four grandchildren, William Puckett, Clistie Puckett, Amelia Fisher and Ian Fisher.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Fisher; an infant daughter, Lynn Elizabeth Fisher; two brothers, Dale Fisher and Thomas B. Fisher; and four sisters, Pauline Leslie, Lois Fisher, Lucile Hadley and Erma Nordin.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Fairview Friends Meeting, Antioch Road, New Vienna, with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Leesburg. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the L. James D. True
Died: Thursday, October 16, 2003
Age: 80
James D. True, 80, of Grove City, formerly of Portsmouth, died Thursday (Oct. 16, 2003) at Mount Carmel Medical Center. He is survived by his loving wife Beatrice True.
Mr. True was retired from the U.S. government. He was a retired chief master sergeant of the United States Air Force. He was a veteran of World War II, having survived the attack on Pearl Harbor and spending the rest of the war in the Silent Service. Mr. True was a member of the Church of Christ in Portsmouth.
In addition to his wife, Mr. True is survived by a son, David (Jean Anne) True; a daughter, Bonnie (David) Cook; two granddaughters, Brittany Cook and Sarah (Zachary) Lee; two brothers, George True and Jack (Joan) True; and a sister, Dorothy Monk.
Mr. True was preceded in death by his parents, Clark and Caroline True; and two sisters, Janet Chanson and Mary Stapleton.
A graveside service and inurnment will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday at the Grove City Cemetery West, with Pastor David Berna officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association in Jim’s memory. Arrangements are under the direction of the SCHOEDINGER NORRIS CHAPEL.
Mary L. Smith

Age: 88
Mary L. Smith, 88, of Sabina, died Thursday (Oct. 16, 2003) at Autumn Years Nursing Center in Sabina. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert J. Dunn, in 1946, after their marriage in 1932. Mrs. Smith was also preceded in death by her second husband, Robie Smith, in 1992. They were married in 1955.
Mrs. Smith was born July 14, 1915 in Pike County, Ohio, daughter of the late William Alfred and Mary Mahalia Anderson Burkitt. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Cotties Corner Church in Pike County and attended the Sabina House of Prayer.
She is survived by a son, Olaf P. (Helene) Dunn of Sabina; two daughters, Helen Margaret (Donald) Wilson of Peebles and Dorothy Jean (Bill) McDowell of Sabina; a stepson, Jerry (Ruth) Smith of Columbus; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Vulgamore of Piketon; and a brother, Harry Burkitt of London, Ohio.
In addition to her husbands, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Alice Martin; a sister, Lorena; and a brother, Burdette Burkitt.
A funeral service will be conducted at Cotties Corner Church at 3 p.m. Saturday, with burial in the Smith Hill Cemetery. Pauletta D. McCormick

Age: 73
Pauletta D. McCormick, 73, of Jackson, died Wednesday (Oct. 15, 2003) at her residence. Her husband of 55 years, Ralph McCormick of Jackson, survives.
Mrs. McCormick was born Jan. 23, 1930, in Norwood, daughter of the late Paul and Ina Ashcraft Davidson. She was a licensed cosmetologist and an Angus cattle and horse breeder. She was a member of the State Trotters Association and DAV Ladies Auxiliary Post 45.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Mike McCormick of Berkeley, Calif. and Pat McCormick of Jackson; a granddaughter, Nichole McCormick of Columbus; a granddaughter-in-law, Kate McCormick of Jackson; two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Hannah McCormick of Jackson; and two sisters, Edna Mae Brandenburg of Blanchester and Emogene Larrick of Washington Court House.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Mike McCormick; and a brother, William R. Davidson.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at the McCormick Family Cemetery, the Rev. Jay Tatum officiating. Pallbearers will be Steve Conner, Al Conner, Brian Larrick, Pat McCormick, Nichole McCormick and Jerry Rose. Special pallbearer will be Roy Brenneman. Roger Lee Hodge

Roger Lee Hodge, 58, of Sabina, died Tuesday (Oct. 14, 2003) at his residence.
Mr. Hodge was born June 21, 1945, near Sabina, son of the late Donald L. and Martha E. Swartz Hodge. He worked in the maintenance department at Clinton Memorial Hospital. He was a member of the Sabina Moose Lodge and Eden Cruisers Car Club. His pride and joy was his 1939 Chevrolet. He was an Eagle Scout and member of the Order of the Arrow, Scout Troop 303. He graduated in 1963 from Miami Trace High School.
He is survived by his companion, Ann Willison; four sons, James D. Hodge of Sabina, Jerry Hodge of Clarksburg, Marcus Hodge of Leesburg and Matthew Hodge of Sabina; a daughter, Rebecca Hodge of Wilmington; 10 grandchildren, Sydney Hodge, Ashley Hodge, J.D. Hodge, Hannah Hodge, Kenny Lower, Sarah Lower, Brianna Gilbert, Isaiah Rigling, Cathryn Hodge and Christopher Coleman; a sister, Sue Monroe of Sabina; and a brother, Kenny Hodge of New Holland.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at LITTLETON FUNERAL HOME, 104 N. Jackson St., Sabina, with burial in Milledgeville Plymouth Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Carl F. Chester, 69, of Sabina, died Tuesday (Oct. 14, 2003) at Clinton Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Knox Chester. They were married Sept. 13, 1973.
Mr. Chester was born Sept. 13, 1934, in Ross County, son of the late Roy and Melvina Chester. He had retired from Mac Tool.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by eight children, Scott (Diana) Wilson of Salisbury, N.C., Lee Pendleton of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Sylvia (Sam) Beatty of Leesburg, Kathryn Evans of Reno, N.V., Yolanda (Robert) Beauchamp of Sun Valley, Nev., Michael Chester of Ft. Myers, Fla., Mark (Tammy) Chester of North Fort Myers, Fla., and Carla Chester of Ft. Myers, Fla.; 22 grandchildren; two sisters, Alma Fletcher of Clarksburg and Etta Moss of Roxabel; and a brother, Robert Chester of Chillicothe.
