Chad Lee Clark

Age: 18
Chad Lee Clark, 18, of Lynchburg, Dodsonville community, died Monday (Sept. 22, 2003) in Lynchburg as the result of a house fire.
Mr. Clark was born Dec. 27, 1984, in Wilmington, son of Micheal and Teresa Tolle Clark. He was a former volunteer cadet at the Fayetteville Fire Department.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by three brothers, Micheal Clark, James (Frandora) Clark and Leroy (Carrie) Clark, all of the Lynchburg Dodsonville area; his maternal grandmother, Barbara Tolle of Mowrystown; his paternal grandparents, Buck and Dorothy Rhoades of Hillsboro; two nieces, Elizabeth and Cheyenne Clark; a nephew, James Robert Clark; three special friends, Tony Wallace of Hillsboro, Bob Campbell of Fayetteville and David Fry of Lynchburg; and several aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Ulric Duane Tolle, and his paternal grandfather, Leroy Junior Clark.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the DAVIS-TURNER FUNERAL HOME, 201 Broadway St., Lynchburg, Bob Stevens officiating, with burial in the Marshall Cemetery. Howard S. Beall
Died: Monday, September 22, 2003
Age: 83
Howard S. Beall, 83, of Coshocton, died 3:01 a.m. Monday (Sept. 22, 2003) at Coshocton County Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Alice Brown Beall.
Mr. Beall was born Aug. 23, 1920, in Keene Township, Coshocton County, son of the late Willard and Helen Elliott Beall.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, James (Maryanne) Beall of Massillon; three daughters, Nancy (Paul) Ledford of Midland, Dorcas (Tom) Winberg of Baltimore, Ohio, and Cathy (Jon) Borror of Pickerington; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Canal Lewisville United Methodist Church in Canal Lewisville, the Rev. Harvey Cunningham and the Rev. Donald Dolick officiating, with burial in South Lawn Cemetery, Coshocton, where the Coshocton County Veterans Council will conduct graveside military services. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at GIVEN-DAWSON COSHOCTON FUNERAL HOME, 186 Park Ave., Coshocton, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Canal Lewisville United Methodist Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Mrs. ethel H. Dalton
Died: Monday, September 22, 2003
Age: 93
Mrs. Ethel H. Dalton, 93, of Panama City, Fla., formerly of Martinsville and Wilmington, died Monday (Sept. 22, 2003) at a nursing facility in Panama City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald B. Dalton.
Mrs. Dalton was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She moved to Panama City in 1994 to be cared for by her daughter.
She is survived by two sons, William A. West of Panama City, Fla., and John H. (Virginia) West of Omaha, Neb.; a daughter, Mary Jo (Bob) Davis of Panama City, Fla.; three stepchildren, Judy (Bill) Hall of Starkville, Miss., Ronnetta (Mike) Pendall of Grayling, Mich., and Tom “Butch” (Sue) Dalton of Wilmington; five grandchildren, Lorrie Meadors, John Newman, Susan West, Tammy Schalk and Barbara Monter; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous stepgrandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery, Dr. Dewey Davidson officiating, with interment to follow the services. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at KENT-FOREST LAWN FUNERAL HOME, 2403 Harrison Ave., Panama City, Fla. The family wishes to thank Tim and Lori Dawson and the staff at Dawson Adult Care and the employees of Hospice of the Emerald Coast. The family will be at the home of Bob Davis, 2817 Woodmere Drive, Panama City, Fla.
The Rev. Everett Lafayette Bailey
Died: Monday, September 22, 2003
Age: 82
The Rev. Everett Lafayette Bailey, 82, of Wilmington, died Monday (Sept. 22, 2003) at Hospice of Dayton. He is survived by his wife, Georgia Ann Gabbert Bailey. They were married for 60 years.
The Rev. Bailey was born June 9, 1921, in Scioto County, son of the late Miles Lafayette and Dicy Ellen Debord Bailey. He graduated in 1941 from West Portsmouth High School and attended Chatfield College and Wilmington College. He ran his own family grocery store in Leesburg and worked as a manufacturer’s representative in the retail food industry. He retired as a pricing analyst for the Kroger Company in 1991, after 23 years of service, including management of the Wilmington and Blanchester stores before transferring to the regional office in Cincinnati. In 1980, he and his wife became the ministers to the Butlerville United Methodist Church. During their 22 years of service to the church, they forged many loving and lasting friendships. They retired as pastors in January. During his ministry, he led groups to Israel four times and conducted Christian services there and in Egypt, as well as in the Netherlands during a European trip. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II. He was a member of the Scottish Rite in Cincinnati and the Grand Lodge of the Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio, the Leesburg chapter. His interests included his family, for whom he was writing his memoirs, and his faith, which prompted him to serve not just as a pastor, but as a teacher, choir member, counselor and friend. He was a special person to all he met and will be missed by anyone who knew him.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Ruth (Richard) Burton of Bellbrook; a son, Lt. Col. George (Colleen) Bailey of Wilmington; seven grandchildren, Joe (Jennifer) Burton of California, Rich (Angie) Burton, Amber and Heather Burton of Bellbrook, Holly (Brad) McAlister of Oklahoma, Libby (Chris) Rose of Kentucky and Spencer Bailey of Oklahoma; a special friend, Chris Townsend of Georgia; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary (Harry) Paul of Portsmouth; and a nephew, Harold (Mary Ann) Fields of Washington Court House.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, four sisters, two granddaughters and a great-grandson.
A service in celebration of his life will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at the Butlerville United Methodist Church, 8494 SR 132, Pleasant Plain. He had bequeathed his body to the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the church.
Leonard "Len" Arthur Evans

Age: 74
Leonard “Len” Arthur Evans, 74, of Blanchester, died Monday (Oct. 20, 2003) at Clinton Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Elfriede Kraus Evans.
Mr. Evans was born Feb. 26, 1929, in Danville, Ky., son of the late Clell Evans and Margaret Baker Evans. He was a member of the Blanchester Life Squad and Disabled American Veterans.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Frank L. Evans of Blanchester; a daughter, Candice Nuhn of Blanchester; a sister, Bonnie Brown of Blanchester; six grandchildren; a nephew, Jerry Lawhorn of Hamilton; and a family friend, Suzi Evans of Blanchester.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the TUFTS SCHILDMEYER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Main St., Blanchester, Jim Rankin officiating, with interment in Blanchester I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Blanchester. Kenny "Bull Man" Haywood

Kenny “Bull Man” Haywood, 85, of Wilmington, died Saturday (Oct. 18, 2003) at Clinton Memorial Hospital. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Althea Lunsford Haywood; and his second wife, Betty Conner Haywood.
Mr. Haywood was born Sept. 9, 1918, in Highland County, son of the late Leslie and Viola Mae Slonaker Haywood. He was retired from Buckley Bros. and the city of Wilmington.
He is survived by four daughters, Lemora Leah Kelleher of Marion, Cindy Kiphart of Wilmington, Deborah (Dwight) Shinn of Orlando, Fla. and Sonia May (Jeff) DeBoard of Wilmington; a son, James Leslie Haywood of Wilmington; 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to his first wife, second wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Haywood.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the LITTLETON FUNERAL HOME, 104 N. Jackson St., Sabina, with burial in the Sabina Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Charles W. Cook

Age: 86
Charles W. Cook, 86, of 1133 Osborn Road, Wilmington, died 7:20 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 18, 2003) at Clinton Memorial Hospital. His wife, Opal M. Swisshelm Cook, survives. They were married Aug. 5, 1944 and recently celebrated their 59th anniversary.
Mr. Cook was born Dec. 7, 1916, in Careytown, son of the late Estel R. and Elsie Michaels Cook. He farmed throughout his life. He was a member of Villars Chapel United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, James E. “Jim” (Diana) Cook of Wilmington and John C. Cook of Wilmington; a daughter, Jessie I. Cook Easton of Wilmington; seven grandchildren, Michelle (Josh) Spurlock, Stacy R. Easton, Jason (Katie) Cook, Shawn (Myra) Cook, Tony Cook, Kim Christian and Heather Cook; two stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; an adopted son, Ronald McCarren; and many close family friends.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at REYNOLDS-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 327 N. South St., Wilmington, Pastor Mike Rhodehamel officiating, with burial in New Antioch Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Ruth A. Smith

Age: 89
Ruth A. Smith, 89, of Washington Court House, formerly of Sabina, died Saturday (Oct. 18, 2003) at Courthouse Manor. Her husband, Dr. Richard C. Smith, died May 28, 2002. They were married Sept. 1, 1940.
Mrs. Smith was born April 16, 1914, in Sandstone, Minn., daughter of the late Andrew S. and Ellen M. Hansen Andersen. She was a member of the Sabina United Methodist Church, Sabina Eastern Star, UMW, Sabina Home Makers and Sabina Senior Citizens.
She is survived by a son, Stephen D. (Sherry) Smith of Grove City; and six grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey A. Smith; and three brothers, Glenn, Donald and Leonard Andersen.
