Mrs. Dickman was born June 1, 1920, in Dayton, the eldest of six children of Arthur L. and Edith Stomps Ostendorf. She graduated in 1938 from Julienne High School and went on to attend classes at the Dayton Art Institute. She married her high school sweetheart in Macon, Ga., prior to the war in 1941. Upon her husband's return from the war they again moved to the Dayton area and opened an art studio in the Town and Country Shopping Center. The couple designed and built their first home on Ridgeview Avenue in Kettering. Due to the "one of a kind" ultra modern design of their home, they made the newspapers in the 1950s. Bob became a mortgage broker in the 1960s and relocated to Wilmington in 1970. Together, they operated their own business out of their home, specializing in government home loans. Jeanne learned to fly recreationally with her husband. Well known and respected in the community, she volunteered her time to the humane society in Clinton County and later became president. She did all the art work and designed the C.C.A.P.A. logo in the early 1980s. She, along with other devoted members and one of her daughters, raised the funds, built, opened and operated Clinton County's first humane society shelter.
She is survived by her eldest daughter, Kristine (Larry) Knapp of Wilmington; two twin grandsons, Jon and Aaron Knapp of Xenia; her youngest daughter, Lizette Dickman (Thomas A.) Sears of Xenia; and four siblings, Ned, Phil, Pat and Nancy.

At her request, there will be no formal funeral service. In lieu of flowers, friends and family are asked to donate to their favorite charity or to the Hole in the Wall Animal Rescue, 1550 Stone Road, Xenia, 45385.
