William F. Brooks

Age: 88
William F. Brooks, 88, of Autumn Years Nursing Center, Sabina, died Friday (Dec. 26, 2003) at Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington. His wife, Tessie Clark Brooks resides at the center. They were married Sept. 2, 1939 in Millport, Pa.
Mr. Brooks was born Dec. 5, 1915, in Pennsylvania, son of the late John Thomas and Carrie Shockbrooks Brooks.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Carolyn Hurd of Bradford, Pa., Brenda (Howard) Collins of Buffalo, N.Y. and Lucy (John) Smith of Springville, N.Y.; two sons, Wayne (Jessica) Brooks of the Philippine Isles and David C. (Deanna) Brooks Sr. of Wilmington; a daughter-in-law, Rhonda Brooks of Garrison, Ky.; 23 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Tanner of Ft. Pierce, Fla. and Barbara (Art) Schnabel of Tonawanda N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Alice Barnes; a son, Mark Brooks; two infant sons, William Brooks Jr. and Roy Brooks; a grandson, William Stauffer III; two sons-in-law, Delbert Hurd and Walter Barnes; three brothers, Alfred Brooks, Norman Brooks and Earl Brooks; four sisters, Addabell Spencer, Margaret Martin, Kathryn Tanner and infant sister Evelyn Brooks; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Autumn Years Nursing Center in Sabina, with words of comfort from Lonnie Stewart. There will be no visitation. The FISHER-EDGINGTON FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.
Helen Louise West
Died: Friday, December 26, 2003
Age: 86
Helen Louise West, 86, of Greenfield, died 5:25 p.m. Friday (Dec. 26, 2003) at Clinton Memorial Hospital. Her husband, Lee F. West, died Jan. 20, 1967.
Mrs. West was born June 27, 1917, in Ross County, daughter of the late Earl F. and Thelma Evans Kerns. She was formerly employed by the Waddell Company, Greenfield, and also managed the Elliott Hotel in Greenfield. She was a graduate of McClain High School and was a member of the Greenfield First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a son, David K. (Linda K.) Wilkin of Wilmington; two granddaughters, Sarah Wilkin of Wilmington and Katherine Wilkin of Sabina; and a special niece, Wanda L. Lucas of Wilmington.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at ANDERSON-STRUEVE FUNERAL HOME, 306 S. Washington St., Greenfield, the Rev. Wendell Vermillion, with burial in the Greenfield Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until time of the services Tuesday at the funeral home.
Marjorie L. Folkert
Died: Friday, December 26, 2003
Age: 82
Marjorie L. Folkert, 82, of Wilmington, died 5:15 a.m. Friday (Dec. 26, 2003) at Carol Bogan’s Adult Care Facility, Wilmington. She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Folkert, who died April 13, 2000. They were married July 22, 1939.
Mrs. Folkert was born Dec. 27, 1920, in Dover, daughter of the late John and Alta Bennett Graham. She had been an office worker for Buckley Brothers and New Antioch Mill. She was a member of Wilmington United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a son, Jeff Folkert of Wilmington; a brother, William (Janet) Graham of Medina; three grandchildren, Dawn Lyon, Lisa Doll and Nicole Drake; and six great-grandchildren, Eric Lyon, Dylan Lyon, Jacob Doll, Emily Doll, Gabrielle Drake and Madison Taylor Drake.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Delores Warehime, and a brother, John Graham.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at REYNOLDS-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 327 N. South St., Wilmington, with burial in Sugar Grove Cemetery. Benjamin C. Houze Sr.

Age: 73
Benjamin C. Houze Sr., 73, of Midland, died Friday (Dec. 26, 2003) at his home. He is survived by his wife, Betty Linda Moore Houze of Midland.
Mr. Houze was born May 7, 1930, in Petersburg, Ky., son of the late Grant J. Houze and Bertha Loniaker.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children, Ben Houze Jr. of Sabina, Allen Houze of Aurora, Ind., Gary Houze of Oklahoma, Pamela Lows of Aurora, Ind., Brenda Robertson of Lawrenceburg, Ind., and Valorie (Bill) Hixson of Midland; two sisters, Hazel Brady and Wilma Louden; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends and neighbors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at TUFTS SCHILDMEYER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Main St., Blanchester, 45107, Pastor Larry Sillett officiating, with burial in Jefferson Township Cemetery, Westboro. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Ruth M. Schmoll

Age: 85
Ruth M. Schmoll, 85, died Monday (Jan. 5, 2004) at Delaware Court Health Care Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, George F. Schmoll.
Mrs. Schmoll was born Jan. 22, 1918, in Chicago, Ill. She was a 50 member of the All Star Chapter Order of the Eastern Stars, Chicago, Ill., and a charter member of the Ralph K. Shrine Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Wilmington.
She is survived by three sons, George (Carol Halquist) Schmoll, John Schmoll and Raynerd (Barbara McLeane) Schmoll; and two grandchildren, Sarah Ruth and Raynerd.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Crystal Schmoll.
A memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Saturday at Delaware Grace Brethren Church, 375 Hills Miller Road, Delaware, Ohio, with burial with her beloved husband at a future date in Windridge Memorial Park and Nature Sanctuary in Cary, Ill. A second memorial service will be held in February at the Ralph K. Shrine. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Joseph M. White
Died: Monday, January 05, 2004
Age: 82
Joseph M. White, 82, of Leesburg, died Monday (Jan. 5, 2004) at Heartland of Hillsboro. He is survived by his wife, Eva Lenora Dewey White. They were married Oct. 30, 1943.
Mr. White was born July 8, 1921, in Franklin County, son of the late Edward Brooks and Elizabeth Lewis White. He was a retired farmer. He attended Walnut Hill Church of Christ in Christian Union. He was a member of the Sabina Masonic Lodge 324, Shrine and Scottish Rite and was a past director of the Clinton County Shrine Club. He had attended Wayne Township High School.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Judith A. (J. Dennis) West of Hillsboro; a son, John Joseph (Debbie L.) White of Chillicothe; a grandson, Joseph Franklin White of Chillicothe; a sister, Winnie (the Rev. Phil) McPherson of Adairsville, Ga.; and a brother, Donnie (Connie) White of Canal Winchester.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Catherin, Margaret Ellen Brown and Freda Daulton; and four brothers, Earl, Louis Henry, Fred and Orval.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Walnut Hill Church of Christ in Christian Union, with burial in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at LITTLETON FUNERAL HOME, 104 N. Jackson St., Sabina, and from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Violet Quigley

Age: 94
Violet Quigley, 94, of New Vienna, died 6:20 a.m. Monday (Jan. 5, 2004) at her residence. She was preceded in death by her first husband, H. Marvin Stratton, and her second husband, Ellsworth E. Quigley Sr.
Mrs. Quigley was born Dec. 31, 1909, in Pikeville, Ky., daughter of the late Tom and Myrtle Endicott Wallace. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sons, John Alton (Jean) Stratton of Dayton and Ellsworth E. (Lois) Quigley Jr. of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a sister, Maggie Bailey of Pikeville, Ky.; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her first husband, second husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at L. EUGENE SMITH & SON FUNERAL HOME, 64 S. South St., New Vienna, Sidney Clay officiating, with burial in the New Vienna I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Margaret White Hartman

Age: 85
Margaret White Hartman, 85, of Quaker Heights Care Community, Waynesville, formerly of Wilmington, died 12:54 p.m. Monday (Jan. 5, 2004) at Clinton Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Conard Hartman, who died in 1972.
Mrs. Hartman was born Sept. 19, 1918, in Seaman, daughter of the late Cirp Willard and Josephine Conkle White. She had been a schoolteacher with the Wilmington City Schools until she retired in 1977, mostly as an elementary school teacher at Smith Place School. She was a member of Wilmington Friends Meeting, Daughters of the American Revolution, Clinton County Retired Teachers Association, Ohio Retired Teachers Association and the Clinton County Farm Bureau. She graduated in 1965 from Wilmington College.
She is survived by two sons, Dean (Linda) Hartman of Wilmington and Ed (Wannetta) Hartman of Wilmington; a brother, Larry White of Washington, Ill., two sisters, Mary White of Seaman and Wilma White Williams of Greenville; seven grandchildren, Tony (Akiko) Peden, Ken (Becki) Peden, Jeff (Sandy) Hartman, Mike (Sherry) Hartman, Christina Hartman, Jessi (Ryan) Harper and Miles (Summer) Hartman; eight great-grandchildren, Kelli Hartman, Kyle Hartman, Jennifer Hartman, Nicole Hartman, Elizabeth Hartman, Ashley Harper, Ethan Hartman and Sophia Hartman; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Evelyn Hartman Peden; three brothers, Willard White, Joseph White and James White; and two sisters, Jean White and Catherine Glasgow.
