Robert C. McKenzie

Age: 78
Robert C. McKenzie, 78, of Stroh, Ind., formerly of Kendallville, Ind., and New Vienna, died 3:20 p.m. Monday (Sept. 16, 2002) at his residence. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patty Smith McKenzie, who died Jan. 15, 1994. They were married Oct. 24, 1946. He is survived by his second wife, Alyce Werhly Click McKenzie. They were married Dec. 28, 1996, in Stroh.
Mr. McKenzie was born March 30, 1924, in New Vienna, son of Julian and Edna Cook McKenzie. He had been an operating engineer for Local 103 of I.U.O.E. He had also been a substitute school bus driver. He moved from Kendallville, Ind., to Stroh, Ind., in 1992. He was a veteran of the Marines and served during World War II.
In addition to his second wife, he was survived by three daughters, Stephanie McKenzie of Huntsville, Ala., Cindy (Tom) Trowbridge of Kendallville, Ind., and Christy Hamman of Albuquerque, N.M.; two sons, Jimmy E. (Nancy) McKenzie of New Have, Ind., and Michael (Lucretia) McKenzie of Kendallville, Ind.; three stepdaughters, Karen (Kevin) Frey of Angola, Ind., Alicia (Ron) Noll of Stroh, Ind., and Teresa (Jim) Klingensmith of Wilmington; 15 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Willard McKenzie of New Vienna, Roger McKenzie of Oreanna, Ill., and Herbert McKenzie of Sabina.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Stroh Church of Christ, Stroh, Ind., Michael Booher and Michael Hamm officiating, with burial in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne, Ind. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the South Milford Church of Christ or the Stroh Church of Christ. Oscar V. Smedley

Oscar V. Smedley, 78, of New Vienna, died 5 a.m. Monday (Sept. 16, 2002) at Clinton Memorial Hospital, Wilmington. He is survived by his wife, Lura Lambert Smedley. They were married Aug. 26, 1944.
Mr. Smedley was born May 21, 1924, in Morehead, Rowan County, Ky., son of the late Samuel and Eva Lou Dehart Smedley. He worked for the village of New Vienna after farming for several years. He was a member of the New Vienna Senior Citizens. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Donald (Peggy) Smedley of Clarksville and Mike (fiancee Robin Siler) Smedley of Laura; four sisters, Judy Barnes of New Vienna, Charlene Mullenix of Ripley, Wanetta (Ed) Hartman of Wilmington and Linda (Josh) Cluxton of Portsmouth; three brothers, Roger Smedley of Lagro, Ind., William (Roberta) Smedley of Sabina and James (Loretta) Smedley of Morehead, Ky.; two sisters, Viola Mae Lambert of Bluffton, Ind., and Junita (Harold) Bone of Washington Court House; 13 grandchildren, Steve (Kim) Mullenix III, Rick (Taffney) Smedley, Rodney (Tami) Smedley, Sherrie (Harold) Baker, Jessie (Ryan) Harper, Miles (Summer) Hartman, Allison Smedley, Elizabeth Smedley, Brandon Allen, Michael Adam Smedley, Torey Purdin, Brooke Barnes and Taylor Freighburger; and eight great-grandchildren, Jamie Mullenix, Jake Mullenix, Bailey Smedley, Patricia Elaine Smedley, Ethan Hartman, Sophie Hartman, Ashley Harper and Taylor Lamb.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a brother, Junior Ray Smedley; a sister, Mageline Mabry; and a grandchild, Jason Allen.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at L. EUGENE SMITH & SON FUNERAL HOME, 64 S. South St., New Vienna, with burial in Clinton Memory Gardens, Wilmington. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to an organization of the donor's choice.

Richard T. Bock, 69, of Washington Court House, died Sunday (Sept. 15, 2002) at Wintersong Village.
Mr. Bock was born March 6, 1933, in Clinton County, son of the late Roy E. and Maud Inlow Bock. He attended Sabina School and the Sabina Methodist Church.
He is survived by two brothers, Don (Judy) Bock of Washington Court House and Ronald (Joyce) Bock of Bradenton, Fla.;
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the LITTLETON FUNERAL HOME, 104 N. Jackson St., Sabina, with burial in the Sabina Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Viola Monica Ernst

Age: 87
Viola Monica Ernst, 87, of Midland, died Friday (Sept. 13, 2002) at Deaconess Hospital in Cincinnati. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence H. Ernst.
She was born May 4, 1915, in St. Wendelin, Ohio, daughter of the late William and Katherine Tobe Post.
She is survived by three children, Buck Ernst of Barton City, Mich., Patricia Wheelock of Greeneville and Vi Ernst of Maineville; six grandchildren, Cathy, Sylvia, Andy, Debbie, Joe and Robert; 11 great-grandchildren, Michael, Jessica, Andy, Zachary, Patrick, Tristan, Bryce, Joey, Buck, Zachary and Savannah; and a sister, Katy Stevely of St. Mary's.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Edward Ernst.
Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Name Church, 746 state Route 133, Blanchester, with Father Mike Savino officiating, and burial in Jefferson Township Cemetery in Westboro. Visitation will be 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the TUFTS SCHILDMEYER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Main St., Blanchester. Bonnie Lee Gallion

Age: 41
Bonnie Lee Gallion, 41, of Port William, died Friday morning (Sept. 13, 2002) at Kettering Medical Center. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Gallion.
She was born March 27, 1961, in Jamestown, daughter of the late Charles Owen and Opal Marcella Entsminger Curtis.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Thomas C.L. (Amber) Gallion of Port William; a daughter, Amy Lynn Gallion of Port William; a granddaughter, Nicole Ann Gallion of Port William; a sister, Jenny Curtis; and a brother, Bill Curtis of Jamestown.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Curtis.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the POWERS FUNERAL HOME, 12 N. Limestone St., Jamestown. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Mildred C. Noel

Age: 95
Mildred C. Noel, 95, of Highland, died Friday (Sept. 13, 2002) at her residence. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer L. Noel, who died May 16, 1989.
She was born April 6, 1907 in Piketon, daughter of the late Thaddeaus and Mary Lobdill Henson. She was a 1925 graduate of Piketon High School, and was the oldest member of the Walnut Hills Church of Christ in Christian Union.
She is survived by a daughter, Darlene (Claar) Ervin of Highland; three sons, Selby (Ethel) Noel of Tallahassee, Fla., Bob (Ann) Noel of Wilmington and Morris (Sharon) Noel of Rincon, Ga.; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Relma Bond of Huntington Beach, Calif.; and a brother, William Henson of Cochise, Ariz.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Marcella Ritchie and Nancy Ford; a brother, Ralph Henson, a grandson, Terry Lee Noel; and a nephew, Paul McAllister.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Walnut Hills Church of Christ in Christian Union, with Pastor Robert Carroll and Pastor Grover Blankenship officiating. Burial will be in the Mound Cemetery in Piketon. Visitation will be 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the TURNER FUNERAL HOME, 73 E. Main St., Leesburg, and 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Harold W. Cooper

Age: 79
Harold W. Cooper, 79, of Wilmington, died Thursday (Sept. 12, 2002) at the Wilmington Nursing and Rehabilitation Residence. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia T. Cooper.
He was born June 10, 1923, in Clinton County, son of the late Carl and Elizabeth Beard Cooper. He was a member of the Dalton Masonic Lodge 578 F. & A.M., the New Vienna Lions Club, was a former member of the New Vienna volunteer fire department, and was a former member of the village councils of Clarksville and New Vienna. He also was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by a son, Gary W. (Nancy) Cooper of Wilmington; a daughter, Marilyn (Don) Baker of Port Charlotte, Fla.; a brother, George (Betty) Cooper of Wilmington; two sisters, Irene (Bob) Cole of London, Ohio, and Jo (Dave) Hibbs of Wilmington; three grandchildren, Cherie Cooper (Phil) Darragh of Franklin, Douglas (Melinda) Cooper of Wilmington and Amy (Bill) Fuerst of Lebanon; and three great-grandchildren, Seth Cooper, Mai Cooper and Hannah Fuerst.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara J. Cooper, and four sisters, Eva Moon, Helen Padgett, Thelma Sewell and Beth Richardson.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the FISHER-EDGINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 97 W. Locust St., with Sidney Clay officiating, and burial in Springfield Friends Cemetery.
