Marjorie F "Aunt" Behrman
Died: Sunday, September 8, 2002
Age: 93
Marjorie F "Aunt" Behrman of Norwood died peacefully Sunday (Sept. 8, 2002) at the Jewish Hospital in Kenwood.
A resident of Norwood for all of her 93 years, she was known and loved as "Aunt" by her family and her many friends. Her memory is cherished by the many students she taught at North Norwood Elementary between 1934 and 1970. In her later years, she devoted herself to civic and charitable activities, and to her expert cooking, gardening and quilting.
She is survived by a sister, Emily Buchanan of Wilmington; four nephews and nieces, seven grand-nephews and grand-nieces; and two great-grand-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John Donald "Don" Behrman.
A memorial service will be planned for sometime in October. The TREDWAY-POLLITT FUNERAL HOME of Cincinnati is serving the family.

Age: 38
Tim D. Surface, 38, of Lima, died Sunday (Sept. 8, 2002) at St. Rita Hospital in Lima.
He was born April 11, 1964, in Wilmington, son of Ira E. and Erma J. Hauser Surface of Oregonia. He was a graduate of Hillsboro High School.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a daughter, Shannon Renee Surface of Pennsylvania; a son, Isaac Timothy Surface of Lima; two brothers, Scott C. Surface Sr. of Hillsboro and Michael T. Surface of Xenia; a sister, Sandy (David) Pratt of Oregonia; and six nieces and nephews, Jennifer N. Surface, Scott C. Surface Jr., Kevin A. Surface, Tiffany S. Pratt, Amy M. Surface and Michael Chad Surface.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the FISHER-EDGINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 97 W. Locust St., Wilmington, with burial in the Mound Cemetery in Monroe. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Richard Reed Hamilton
Died: Saturday, September 7, 2002
Age: 38
Richard Reed Hamilton, 38, of Wilmington, died Saturday (Sept. 7, 2002) at Clinton Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Hamilton was born Oct. 12, 1963, in Detroit, Mich., the son of the late Winston R. Hamilton and Loretta Messer Gentry, who survives.
He is also survived by his stepfather, Paul Gentry; two children, Donald Hamilton and Jessica Hamilton; and a niece, Hannah Hamilton.
In addition to his father, Mr. Hamilton was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Hamilton.
A graveside service will be conducted noon Wednesday at the Birch-Alford Cemetery, Artemus, Ky. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the TUFTS SCHILDMEYER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1668 state Route 28, Goshen.
Betty L. Harner
Died: Thursday, September 5, 2002
Age: 63
Betty L. Harner, 63, of Washington Court House, died Thursday (Sept. 5, 2002) in Wilmington.
Mrs. Harner was born June 9, 1939, in Fayette County, daughter of the late Ralph L. and Martha Davis Strouse. She enjoyed bowling and was active in many leagues.
She is survived by four children, Becky (Randy) Stroud of Greenfield, Debbi (Charles) Floyd of Wilmington, Chuck (Angie) Harner of Washington Court House and Toni (Larry) Knox of Washington Court House; two brothers, Charles (Ann) Strouse and Sonny (Linda) Strouse; two sisters, Shirley (Sonny) Rittenhouse of Washington Court House and Ruth (Harold) Smith of Washington Court House; a special boyfriend of 22 years, Dale Wilson and his family; eight grandchildren; four great-granddaughters; and by several nephews, nieces and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at WELLMAN-KINZER FUNERAL HOME, 509 Washington Ave., Washington Court House, with burial in White Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Kenneth Joseph Wilson
Died: Thursday, September 5, 2002
Age: 62
Kenneth Joseph Wilson, 62, of Port William, went to be with his Lord on Thursday (Sept. 5, 2002) at Greene Memorial Hospital, Xenia. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Merriman Wilson. They were married June 14, 1959.
Mr. Wilson was born Nov. 8, 1939, in Hillsboro, son of the late Joseph and Donna May McClanahan Wilson. His father died in 1971 and his mother died in 2001. He graduated in 1958 from Xenia High School. In October 2001, he retired from Super Valu as a truck driver, where he had been employed for 30 years. He was an active member of Ledbetter Road Church of God, where he was an usher, a past president of the board of trustees and Sunday School teacher.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Deborah (Keith) Elswick of Charlestown, Ind., Luetta Foster of Wilmington, Katherine (Tommy) Scott of Midland, Joyce (Craig) Edwards of Port William and Sharon (William) Bradley of Port William; 11 grandchildren, Amy and Julie Elswick, Amber (Jaymie) Rudy, Christi and Stephen Smith, Jamie, Jason and Jessica Scott, John and Shelby Edwards and Cassie Bradley; three great-grandchildren, Abigail and Gabrielle Rudy and Aidan Greene; a brother, Marvin Wilson of Jamestown; several nieces, nephews and other relatives; and many friends.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Ledbetter Road Church of God, Pastor Terry Neace officiating, with burial in Valley View Memorial Gardens, Xenia. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Ledbetter Road Church of God, 325 Ledbetter Road, Xenia, 45385. Isabelle C. Cochran
Died: Wednesday, September 4, 2002
Age: 84
Isabelle C. Cochran, 84, of Blanchester, went to Heaven at 4:25 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 4, 2002) at Grant Medical Center, Columbus. She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Cochran. They were married Jan. 13, 1941.
Mrs. Cochran was born Jan. 13, 1918, in Wilmington, daughter of the late Charles and Ellen Fife Cole. She was a member of the Martinsville Church of Christ. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Rebekka Lodge, the New Antioch Grange and the Wilmington Senior Citizens. In addition to being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was a homemaker and assisted on the family farm. She graduated in 1936 from Wilmington High School.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Roger E. (Barb) Cochran of Martinsville and Robert N. (Cheryl) Cochran of Wilmington; a daughter, Mary Ellen Cochran Pyle of Martinsville; a brother, Robert (Irene) Cole of London; two sisters-in-law, Lois Cole of Alabama and Margaret Cole of Florida; two sisters, Katherine Griffith of Wilmington and Josephine Babb of Wilmington; eight grandchildren, Brian (Melanie) Cochran, Barry (Amy) Cochran, Kris (Theresa) Cochran, Jeffery N. Cochran, Melissa (Travis) Ford, Leslie (Eric) Nieder, Mark Pyle and Michael Pyle; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, David Cole, Richard Cole and Phillip Cole; two brothers-in-law, Donald Griffith and Sebert Babb; and a sister-in-law, Veda Cole.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at the Martinsville Church of Christ, 28 W. Main St., Martinsville, Timothy T. Wallace officiating, with burial in Martinsville I.O.O.F Cemetery. Following burial, family and friends are invited to gather at the church for a dinner celebrating Mrs. Cochran's life. Tommy E. Siler

Age: 43
Tommy E. Siler, 43, of Blanchester, died Wednesday (Sept. 4, 2002) at Clinton Memorial Hospital, Wilmington.
Mr. Siler was born March 17, 1959, in Cincinnati, son of Josephine Reed Siler of Blanchester and the late Joe L. Siler. He was a member of the Blanchester Eagles F.O.E. 2222.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by three brothers, Joe Siler of Blanchester, Larry (Fonda) Siler of Blanchester and Rodney (Barbara) Siler of Blanchester.

Hazel Walls

Age: 87
Hazel Walls, 87, of 274 Prairie Ave., Wilmington, died 9:45 a.m. Tuesday (Sept. 3, 2002) at Clinton Memorial Hospital, Wilmington. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Webb, and her second husband, Leon F. Walls.
Mrs. Walls was born Sept. 23, 1914, in Highland County, daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Bertha Walker Caplinger. She was a member of the Wilmington Church of Christ and enjoyed quilting.
She is survived by a stepson, Gurney (Nora) Walls of Cold Spring, Ky.; two daughters, Janet (Donald) Collins of Thomaston, Ga., and Jeanne (John) George of Clarksville; a brother, Virgil Caplinger of Wilmington; a sister, Rissa Walls of Sabina; five grandchildren, John J. George, Brett George, Lewis Leon Walls, Bobbie Lou Oldendick and Troy Walls; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Donald Webb; a brother, Roy "Pete" Caplinger; and two sisters, Myrtle Rutledge and Ruth Curtis.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at REYNOLDS-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 327 N. South St., Wilmington, Keith Dimbath officiating, with burial in Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wilmington. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
