Gerard "Jerry" K. Kimball

Gerard K. "Jerry" Kimball, 60, of Blanchester, died Wednesday (Aug. 14, 2002) at his residence. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gloria Laffin. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Edwards Kimball. They were married Oct. 10, 1970.
Mr. Kimball was born Feb. 7, 1942, in Lynn, Mass., to the late Kenneth and Shirley McSwain Kimball. He was employed at Kroger in Blanchester and Lebanon for 30 years. He was a member of the Holy Name Catholic Church in Blanchester.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Vince D. Kimball of Ipswich, Mass., and Chris (Linda) Ford of Blanchester; three daughters, Beverly J. Kimball and Robyn (Floyd) Steward of Blanchester and Jennifer (Bruce) Lott of Amelia; two brothers, Sonny Allen and Ken Kimball, both of St. Louis; two sisters, Laurie Marty and Melissa Harrison, both of St. Louis; his stepmother, Marjorie Kimball of Avon Park, Fla.; and six grandchildren, Ryan C. Steward, Jacob A. Steward, Aaron P. Steward, Sarah R. Lott, Harley D. Williams and John M. Ford.
The funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Monday at the Holy Name Catholic Church in Blanchester, with burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Montgomery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of LITTLETON FUNERAL HOME, 104 N. Jackson St., Sabina.
Juanita L. Reese

Age: 83
Juanita L. Reese, 83, of Sabina, died Wednesday (Aug. 14, 2002) in Clinton Memorial hospital. She is survived by her husband, Harley N. Reese, They were married for 63 years.
Mrs. Reese was born Feb. 24, 1919, in Sabina, daughter of the late Abel M.S. and Laura Jones Rude. She was a lifelong homemaker. She was a member of Sabina Church of Christ. She graduated in 1937 from Sabina High School.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Kay (Bill) Shepherd of Wilmington; a son, Barry L. (Connie) Reese of Plain City; and two grandchildren, Laureese Allison Shepherd and William Kent Grose.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Zelma Rude Cox; a brother, Raymond Rude; and a grandson, Wayne Kirk Grose.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at LITTLETON FUNERAL HOME, 104 N. Jackson St., Sabina, with burial in Sabina Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sabina Church of Christ, Sabina.
Bessie Allen Short

Age: 80
Bessie Allen Short, 80, of Blanchester, died Wednesday (Aug. 14, 2002) at Clinton Memorial Hospital, Wilmington.
She was born Feb. 17, 1922, daughter of the late Alonzo Allen and Elizabeth Morris.
She is survived by six children, Diana McMullen of Blanchester, Linda (Donald) Newkirk of Westboro, Charlotte (Charles) Tissander of Clarksville, Frances Walters of Holland, Mich., Ed Short of Blanchester and Tammy Adams of Dayton; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers and six sisters.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at TUFTS SCHILDMEYER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Main St., Blanchester, the Rev. Charles Tissander, with burial in Blanchester I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Blanchester. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, 45420.
Hester Jane Case
Died: Tuesday, August 13, 2002
Age: 76
Hester Jane Case, 76, of Haines City, Fla., formerly of Sabina, died Tuesday (Aug. 13, 2002) in Winter Haven, Fla. She is survived by her husband, Robert W. Case of Haines City, Fla. They were married for 60 years.
Mrs. Case was born Nov. 9, 1925, in Reesville. She lived in Sabina for 50 years before moving to Haines City, Fla., in 1991. She was a member of the Sabina United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She attended Reesville High School. She was a loving wife and devoted mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Lt. Col. Robert E. "Ed" (Shirley Dlabik) Case, retired USAF, of Albuquerque, N.M., Warren (Arlene) Case of Kissimmee, Fla., Roxie Case (Michael) Bartlet of Orlando, Fla.; and five grandchildren, Michael Bradley Borton of Orlando, Fla., Tiffaney Bartlett of Ypsilanti, Mich., Traci Case of Golden, Colo., Heather Case of Hyde Park, N.Y., and Matthew Case of Orlando, Fla.
Graveside funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the Centerville Cemetery, Lees Creek. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at LITTLETON FUNERAL HOME, 104 N. Jackson St., Sabina. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Rhoda J. Cluxton

Age: 64
Rhoda J. Cluxton, 64, of Wilmington, died 1:30 p.m. Monday (Aug. 12, 2002) at Liberty Nursing Center, Xenia. She is survived by her first husband, Bobby E. Reed of Olive Hill, Ky. She was preceded in death by her second husband, Donald W. Cluxton, who died in 2000. They were married in May 1976.
Mrs. Cluxton was born Jan. 23, 1938, in Nicholasville, Ky., daughter of Mary Helen Smith Doyle of Wilmington and the late Edward Doyle. She attended Brown Road Church of God. She was a member of the National Library of Poetry and the Long Ridge Writers Group.
In addition to her first husband and her mother, she is survived by two daughters, Deborah L. (Robert) Hicks of Wilmington and Pamela J. (Roy) Hansford of Lynchburg; three stepsons, Michael (Lori) Cluxton of Wilmington, Christopher (Jeanie) Cluxton of Wilmington and Matthew Cluxton of Wilmington; a daughter-in-law, Esther "Marie" Reed of Tampa, Fla.; a brother, Donald (Vivian) Doyle of Port William; three sisters, Bertha Bolin of Lynchburg, Bessie Neace of Wilmington and Linda (Jon) Davis of Wilmington; 17 grandchildren, Michelle Reed, Christopher (Melissa) Reed, Timmithy Reed, Tracy (Tim) Richards, Steven (Amber) Hicks, Craig Manor, Jonathan Hansford, Sennie Hansford, Josh (Linda) Cluxton, Jeremiah (Jamie) Cluxton, Nikki Hill, Chad Cluxton, Brian Cluxton, James Burton, Lindsay Burton, Jeff Burton and Kaylee Hill; 10 great-grandchildren, Julian Santiago, Dennis Hernandez, Christopher P. Reed, Shanda Hall, Brandon Hall, Jayden Shinkle, Dakota Manor, Calob Manor, Kristyn Reed and Elijah Hicks; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her second husband and her father, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael L. Reed, who died July 19, 1981; two brothers, James "Buck" Doyle and Raymond Doyle; and a grandchild, Brandon James Hicks, who died in 1992.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at REYNOLDS-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 327 N. South St., Wilmington, with burial in New Vienna I.O.O.F. Cemetery. LeRoy M. Dearing

Age: 94
LeRoy M. Dearing, Ph.D., 94, of Studio City, Calif., died Aug. 12 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Brown Dearing, who died in 1977, and his second wife, Jane Lockridge Dearing, who died in 1991.
Mr. Dearing was born in 1908 in Sandstone, Mich., and raised in Parma, Mich. He earned a bachelor of science in chemistry in 1930 and a master's of science in biochemistry in 1933 from Antioch College in Ohio and a doctorate in physical chemistry at Ohio State University in 1935. He was director of research at Technicolor and technical director at Eastman Kodak, where he helped invent Kodacolor and Kodachrome film. He was a long-time member of Sherman Oaks United Methodist Church.
He is survived by a son, Matthew Dearing; a daughter, Mary Ellen Dearing; a grandson, River Owen D. Blough; a granddaughter, Meadow Jean D. Blough; a sister, Alberta Atkinson; a brother-in-law, Clarence Brown; two nephews, Clancy Brown and David Atkinson; a niece, Ann Pellegrino; and many other loving relatives and friends.
In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by a dear friend, Nancy Hoover Pohl, who died in 2001; two sisters, Aba Holtgren and Mildred Farrell; and a brother, Van Dearing.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday at Sherman Oaks United Methodist Church, 14401 Dickens St., Sherman Oaks. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Dearing's name to the Mountains and Recreation Conservancy Authority, 570 West Avenue 26, Suite 100, Los Angeles, Calif. 90066.

LeRoy M. Dearing, Ph.D., 94, of Studio City, Calif., died Aug. 12 at his residence of natural causes after he suffered a stroke three years ago. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Brown Dearing, who died in 1977, and his second wife, Jane Lockridge Dearing, who died in 1991.

Harley Floyd Skidmore
Died: Monday, August 12, 2002
Age: 80
Harley Floyd Skidmore, 80, of West Mansfield, died Monday (Aug. 12, 2002) at Heartland of Bellefontaine following a short illness. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Fleece Skidmore. They were married Nov. 14, 1946, in Lima, and were married for nearly 56 years.
Mr. Skidmore was born March 5, 1922, in Hardin County, son of the late Harley Floyd Sr. and Ottie Leota James Skidmore. He was a lifelong farmer and since 1976 had operated a dairy farm at the family home place south of West Mansfield. He was a member of the North Greenfield United Methodist Church, the National Holstein Association, the Ohio Holstein Association and the Ohio Farm Bureau. He served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the East Liberty American Legion. He graduated in 1939 from Belle Center High School. He took great pride in his family, farming and milking cows. He will be remembered as a hard-working man.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Steven (Joan) Skidmore of Blanchester, Dwight (Sondra) Skidmore, D.V.M., of West Mansfield and Robert Skidmore of West Mansfield; a daughter, Cheryl Ann (Robert) Losey of Kent; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Jill and Brittany Skidmore, Jacquie (Michael) Blair and Bradley, Troy and Chad Losey; a great-granddaughter, Shelby Blair; two sisters, Anna Belle Kritzler of Ada and Frances Kipker of Bellefontaine; two sisters-in-law, Martha Skidmore and Charlene Skidmore, both of Belle Center; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Norman Floyd Skidmore, who died in 1983; and three brothers, Cyril, Wayne and Kenneth Skidmore.
Services were scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at MANNASMITH-SCHNURRENBERGER FUNERAL HOME, 222 W. Center St., West Mansfield, 43358, the Rev. Winnie Bateson officiated, with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, West Mansfield, where full military honors were accorded by the Logan County Veterans Association. Visitation was scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the North Greenfield United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
