Shirley Lee Bean
Died: Tuesday, May 28, 2002
Age: 61

Shirley Lee Bean, 61, of New Vienna, died Tuesday (May 28, 2002) at Clinton Memorial Hospital. Her husband, Robert E. Bean, survives. They were married Feb. 10, 1962.

Mrs. Bean was born Jan. 14, 1941, in Martinsville, daughter of the late Lester and Ruth Blaser McCoppin. A 1958 graduate of Martinsville High School, she was a member of the Community Christian Church, where she was a choir member. She was also a member of the former Martinsville Order of Eastern Star. She retired as a school bus driver from Laurel Oaks and East Clinton after 27 years. During her career as a bus driver, she drove students to many sporting and band events. She was an avid golfer and a member of Snow Hill Ladies Association. In addition to being a very active homemaker, she was an excellent seamstress.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Kathy Bean of New Vienna; a son, Kevin (Amy) Bean of Sabina; three grandchildren, Keith, Kyle and Kaeleb Bean; and five sisters, Carlene (Morton) Rogers of Blanchester, Elda (Don) Fitzsimmons of Beavercreek, Janet (Norman) Haines of Xenia, Frances (Gene) Turner of Jasper Mills and Ruth (Jim) Wolary of Wilmington.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Kimberly Ann and Kristi Lynn; and three brothers, Charles, Spurgeon and Robert Duane McCoppin.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the LITTLETON FUNERAL HOME, 104 N. Jackson St., Sabina, with burial in the Centerville Cemetery, Lees Creek. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Christian Church, the Clinton County Cancer Society or Hospice of Clinton County, in Mrs. Bean's memory.

reginald Farrell Borton
Died: Tuesday, May 28, 2002
Age: 70

Reginald Farrell Borton, 70, of Xenia, passed away Tuesday morning (May 28, 2002) at Hospitality Home East. His wife, Janet E. Pickering Borton, whom he married April 18, 1959, survives.

Mr. Borton was born June 25, 1931, in Wilmington, son of the late Clarence "Dick" and Adelaine Garrison Borton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Xenia Daily Gazette in June 1996.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Timothy Lee Borton of Xenia and Gregory Allen Borton of Dayton; a daughter, Shelley (Chris) Aleshire of Byesville; three grandchildren, Brittany Aleshire, Brooke Aleshire and Corey Borton; and a sister, Shirley (Jerry) Burton of Wilmington.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the NEELD FUNERAL HOME, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia, the Rev. Robert McDowell officiating, with burial in Valley View Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Alberta Harubin
Died: Tuesday, May 28, 2002
Age: 86

Alberta Harubin, 86, of 75 Hale St., Wilmington, died 12:05 p.m. Tuesday (May 28, 2002) at Wilmington Nursing & Rehabilitation Residence. Her husband, Felix S. Harubin, preceded her in death on Aug. 12, 1974. They were married Jan. 3, 1947.

Mrs. Harubin was born March 31, 1916, in New Vienna, daughter of the late Robert Joseph Rulon and Abigail Curtis Rulon. She was a member of the New Vienna Church of Christ. Mrs. Harubin was a New Vienna High School graduate.

Mrs. Harubin is survived by two sisters-in-law, Virginia Rulon and Margaret Rulon; a brother-in-law, Andrew Cluxton; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Harubin was preceded in death by three brothers, William Rulon, Curtis Rulon and Paul Rulon; a sister-in-law, Jean Rulon; two sisters, Joellen Streber and Janet Cluxton; and a brother-in-law, Robert Streber.

The funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at the L. EUGENE SMITH & SON FUNERAL HOME, 64 S. South St. in New Vienna, Sidney Clay officiating, with interment in the New Vienna I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the New Vienna Church of Christ, State Route 28/State Route 73, New Vienna, 45159.

Milton D. Hollingsworth
Died: Tuesday, May 28, 2002
Age: 81

Milton D. Hollingsworth, 81, of Wilmington, formerly of Bowersville, died 5 a.m. Tuesday (May 28, 2002) at Clinton Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Carrie B. Irvin Hollingsworth, whom he married July 26, 1952.

He was born June 2, 1920, in Bowersville, son of the late Orville and Audra Story Hollingsworth. He was a member of the Wilmington Church of Christ, B.P.O. Elks 797 and American Legion Post 49. He was a retired chief master sergeant in the United States Air Force. He retired from civil service from the Clinton County Air Force Base. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a beloved grandfather and enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, David M. (Lisa) Hollingsworth of Wilmington; a daughter, Janet Sue Dearth of Milford; a brother, Traverse (Fern) Hollingsworth of Washington Court House; six grandchildren, Nathaniel Hollingsworth, Zachary Hollingsworth, Leah Hollingsworth, Andy Dearth, Kyle Dearth and Nicholas Dearth; and a great-grandchild, Elora Brooke Dearth.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Hollingsworth; and four sisters, Cleo Hollingsworth, Hazel Drake, Marjorie Waltz and Maxine Hollingsworth.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at the Wilmington Church of Christ, 909 W. Locust St., with Keith Dimbath presiding. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 49. Mr. Hollingsworth bequeathed his body to the Wright State Medical School. REYNOLDS-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 327 N. South St., Wilmington, is serving the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the scholarship fund at the Wilmington Church of Christ, 909 W. Locust St., Wilmington, 45177; or the National Kidney Foundation, 1373 Grandview Ave., Suite 200, Columbus, 43212-2804.

Richard C. Smith DVM
Died: Tuesday, May 28, 2002
Age: 86

Richard C. Smith, DVM, 86, of Washington Court House, formerly of Sabina, died Tuesday (May 28, 2002) at his residence. His wife, Ruth M. Andersen Smith, whom he married Sept. 1, 1940, survives.

Mr. Smith was born July 3, 1915, in Fayette County, son of the late Howard M. and Iona Sparks Smith. He retired in 1991 after working for 51 years as a veterinarian. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sabina, the Ohio Veterinarian Association, American Veterinarian Medical Association, Sabina Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati and the Sabina Lions Club.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Stephen D. (Sherry) Smith of Grove City; and five grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery A. Smith; and a brother, Robert M. Smith.

Service will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at LITTLETON FUNERAL HOME, 104 N. Jackson St., Sabina. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home.

Grace I. Fields
Died: Thursday, July 25, 2002
Age: 73

Grace I. Fields, 73, of Hillsboro, died Thursday (July 25, 2002) at her residence. She was preceded in death by her husband, Felix Fields Sr., who died Nov. 7, 1989.

Mrs. Fields was born Dec. 5, 1928, in the Gist Settlement, Clinton County, daughter of the late John Osro and Jessie Turner Robinson.

She is survived by two sons, Felix Fields Jr. of Columbus and Dana Andrew Fields of Hillsboro; six daughters, Vickie Lynn (Anthony) Paris of Sacramento, Calif., Cynthia Jean Davis of Wilmington, Marva Ann Fields of Hillsboro, Doris Marie Fields of Hillsboro, Lois Mae (John) Caldwell of Belfast and Sharon Denise Fields of Hillsboro; six grandchildren, Myra Fields, Sylvia Artis, Felix Fields III of Columbus, Priscilla Annette Fields of Hillsboro, Crystal Lynn Davis of Wilmington and Mark Anthony Davis of Wilmington; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Virginia Robinson of Columbus; a brother, Thomas Alexander Robinson of Cincinnati; and a half sister, Seleicka Dent of Hillsboro.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Louise Fields, who died Oct. 17, 1953; three sisters; and five brothers.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday at TURNER & SON FUNERAL HOME, 602 N. High St., Hillsboro, the Rev. Jason Yochum officiating, with burial in Resthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Bertha Mary Kelley Glines Hoelle
Died: Thursday, July 25, 2002
Age: 89

Bertha May Kelley Glines Hoelle, 89, of Wilmington, formerly of Blanchester and Morrow for many years, died Thursday (July 25, 2002) at Clinton Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Stanley Hoelle and Charles Wesley Glines.

She was born Dec. 8, 1912, in Columbus, daughter of the late Ira William and Amanda Jeanette Cramer Kelley. She was a member of the Blanchester First Church of God.

She is survived by a son, the Rev. Wesley W. Glines of Wauseon; three daughters, Patty Nisbet Crisp of Ocala, Fla., Bonnie Spurlock of Wilmington and Nancy Kuczora of Elgin, Ill.; a stepson, Stanley Paul Hoelle of Ormond Beach, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Ruth Brumfield of Cincinnati; a brother, Herbert William Kelley of Ocala, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Kelley.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at VALE-HOSKINS FUNERAL HOME, Morrow, the Rev. Wesley Glines officiating, with burial in Deerfield Cemetery, South Lebanon. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideon's International.

Gladys L. Sonner
Died: Wednesday, July 24, 2002
Age: 78

Gladys L. Sonner, 78, of New Vienna, died Wednesday (July 24, 2002) at Autumn Years Nursing Center, Sabina. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Williamson. She is survived by her second husband, Robert E. Sonner of New Vienna.

Mrs. Sonner was born Jan. 13, 1924, in Sinking Springs, daughter of the late David and Irene Satterfield Wilson. She owned and operated Gladys' Beauty Salon in Wilmington for many years. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Wilmington.

In addition to her second husband, she is survived by a son, John (Rosemary) Williamson of Amelia; a stepson, Gary (Linda) Sonner of Union; two sisters, Geneva Roberson and Violet Karnes, both of Hillsboro; nine grandchildren, John Williamson Jr. of New Vienna; Jeff of Mt. Orab, Terry of Mariemont, Timothy and Joe of Hillsboro, Angela Loose and Sandra Gregory of Amelia, Patric and Sean Sonner of Union; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her first husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Joanne Williamson; a sister, Marcella Sanders; and two brothers, Paul Wilson and Manfred Wilson.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at LITTLETON FUNERAL HOME, 104 N. Jackson St., Sabina, with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Sinking Springs. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
