Raymond E. Grooms Sr., 59, of Wilmington, died Tuesday (July 23, 2002) at Clinton Memorial Hospital, Wilmington. He is survived by his wife, Roberta Grooms of Wilmington. They were married Nov. 16, 1962.
Mr. Grooms was born June 18, 1943, in Wilmington, son of Margaret Ellen Hopkins Grooms of Wilmington and the late Harold Raymond Grooms, who died June 12, 1980. He had been employed for 26 years with R&L Carriers. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a son, Ray Grooms Jr. of Washington Court House; a daughter, Wendy Houston Black of Hillsboro; five grandchildren, Megan Moon, Tessa Rae Grooms, Travis Ray Grooms, Jeremy Morales and Kasi Morales; three sisters, Phyllis (Roger) Wilson of Wilmington, Linda (Tom) Roberts of Lakeland, Fla., and Margaret (Bobby) Edwards of Wilmington; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Sugar Grove Cemetery, Noah Robert Dunn officiating. The Wilmington American Legion Post 49 Memorial Squad will accord full military honors. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at FISHER-EDGINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 97 W. Locust St., Wilmington.
Eleanor Gould
Died: Monday, July 22, 2002
Age: 81
Eleanor Gould, 81, of Wilmington, died Monday (July 22, 2002) at her residence. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Gould. They were married May 22, 1965.
Mrs. Gould was born Jan. 14, 1921, in Harveysburg, daughter of the late Charles W. and Eva Ellis Villars. She was a member of the New Vienna Senior Citizens. She graduated from Harveysburg High School.
She is survived by a son, Richard Wayne (Vanessa) Davis of Bellbrook; a brother, Wayne Villars of Sabina; two grandchildren, Jeffery Richard (Rachelle) Davis and Kelli Diane (Bryan) Furrey; and three great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Davis, Emilie Davis and Katie Furrey.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles C. Villars.
Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday at New Antioch Cemetery, Sidney Clay officiating. Visitation for the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at REYNOLDS-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 327 N. South St., Wilmington. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Vienna Senior Citizens, 49 S. Lola Voss

Lola Voss, 84, of Wilmington, died 9:57 a.m. Monday (July 22, 2002) at Clinton Memorial Hospital, Wilmington. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto A. Voss, who died Jan. 5, 1999.
Mrs. Voss was born Feb. 17, 1918, in Jellico, Tenn., daughter of the late Alvin and Laura Angel Wright. She was a member of the Blanchester Flower Club.
She is survived by a son, Otto A. Voss of Wilmington; a daughter, Carol (Jack) Jones of Baltimore, Md.; two brothers, Kenneth Wright of Cincinnati and William Wright of Cincinnati; two grandchildren, Lori Frailer of York, Pa., and Joseph Dobbs of Somerset, Ky.; two great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends survive.
Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Clinton Memory Gardens, Lynn Gitzinger officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5400 Dupont Circle, Suite J, Milford, 45150. Arrangements were under the direction of REYNOLDS-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 327 N. Lola Voss

Margaret Barrett McCoy
Died: Sunday, July 21, 2002
Age: 88
Margaret Barrett McCoy, 88, of Advance, N.C., died Sunday (July 21, 2002) at Forsyth Hospital, Winston Salem, N.C.
She was born Oct. 12, 1913, in Wilmington, daughter of Oliver and Elizabeth McCoy. She graduated in 1932 from Wilmington High School and in 1936 from Earlham College in Richmond, Ind. She accepted a teaching position at St. Mary's High School in St. Mary's. In 1937, she enrolled at Ohio State University and subsequently earned a master's degree in psychology. For several years, she worked at the children's home in Greensboro, N.C., and was engaged primarily with finding homes for older children. Later, she taught several courses at Forsyth Technical Community College and worked independently as a counselor in Greensboro and in Winston Salem. She volunteered at a number of local agencies, including Crisis Control and Friendship Force. She served as a member of the Wilmington College Board of Trustees from 1964 to 1976. She especially enjoyed music, dancing, travel and art. She frequently exhibited her paintings through Associated Artists of Winston Salem and gave numerous paintings to friends and family. As long as her health permitted, she was actively involved in the Parkway United Church of Christ in Winston Salem. During the final years of her life, she resided at Bermuda Village in Advance, N.C.
She is survived by a niece, Carolyn McCoy; a great-niece, Margaret Sanderson; a great-nephew, Matthew Sanderson; two cousins, Robert McCoy of New Vienna and Gertrude Workman of Fredericktown; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Jean McCoy of Cranberry Township, Pa.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Richard, who died in 2000.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Aug. 16 at Parkway United Church of Christ in Winston Salem, N.C. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wilmington, at the discretion of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Friends Service Committee, 1501 Cherry St., Philadelphia, Pa. 19102.
Walter F. Stagge
Died: Saturday, May 18, 2002
Age: 83
Walter F. Stagge, 83, of 277 Linkhart Road, Wilmington, who currently was residing at Otterbein Home, Lebanon, died 6:30 p.m. Saturday (May 18, 2002) at Hospice of Dayton. His wife, Janet LeFevre Stagge, survives. They were married Feb. 3, 1945.
Mr. Stagge was born Dec. 6, 1918, in Indian Hill, son of the late Fred and Dora Peters Stagge. He attended Clarksville United Methodist Church, where he was very active. He had been self-employed as a general contractor. Prior to that, he was a farmer. Mr. and Mrs. Stagge were foster parents of 17 children.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Stagge is survived by three sons, Roger W. (Roberta) Stagge of West Chester, Duane L. (Cindy) Stagge of Carroll, and Keith A. (Sandy) Stagge of Waynesville; two daughters, Linda L. (Richard Jr.) Tafel of Fort Myers Beach, Fla., and LuAnn (Rocky) Holmes of Wilmington; Edna (Carl) Van Hart of Treasure Island, Fla. and Mildred (Henry) Finke of Mason; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Martha Carr of Dayton.
In addition to his parents, a daughter, Mindy E. Stagge, preceded in death.
The funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday at the REYNOLDS-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 327 N. South St., Wilmington, the Rev. Keith A. Stagge officiating, with interment in Sugar Grove Cemetery. George Harold Green
Died: Thursday, May 16, 2002
Age: 62
George Harold Green, 62, of 513 Old State Road, Clarksville, died 7:33 p.m. Thursday (May 16, 2002) at Blanchester Care Center.
Mr. Green was born Aug. 28, 1939, in Clinton County, son of the late James H. and Jessie Wahl Green. He worked at Airborne Express and still farmed, having farmed for many years. He attended St. Columbkille Catholic Church. He graduated in 1959 from Wilmington High School.
He is survived by two daughters, Lynn (Doug) Lakes of Corinth, Ky., and J. Robyn (Tim) Clifton of Wilmington; a brother, William (Nancy) Green of Wilmington; a sister, Dorothy (Gerald) Smith of Tucson, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Sean Blythe, Ashley Lakes, Tyler Lakes, Dylan Lakes, Erica Barrett and Kyle Clifton; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James E. Green, and two sisters, Mary Copsey and Carol Davis.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at REYNOLDS-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 327 N. South St., Wilmington, the Rev. James M. Wedig officiating, with burial in Sugar Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Francis J. Grisham

Age: 84
Francis J. Grisham, 84, of Blanchester, died Thursday (May 16, 2002) at Blanchester Care Center, Blanchester. He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Varley Grisham.
Mr. Grisham was born Dec. 7, 1917, in Brown County, son of the late Archie Grisham and Emma Jane Hill. He was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 2222 and a member of the Blanchester Senior Citizens.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Helen Johnson of Blanchester; a niece, Linda Snodgrass of Blanchester; a grandniece, Amber Snodgrass of Blanchester; and a grandnephew, Michael Snodgrass of Blanchester.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Delores Grisham, who died in 1997.
