William E. Brownlee

Age: 67
William E. Brownlee, 67, of Seaman, died Monday morning (May 13, 2002) at Clinton Memorial Hospital, Wilmington. He is survived by his wife, Gwen Smalley Brownlee. They were married Dec. 31, 1957, in West Union.
Mr. Brownlee was born Feb. 27, 1935, in Coles Park in Scioto County, son of the late Claude and Gladys Freeman Brownlee. He had retired after over 30 years of service as a Ohio State Highway trooper. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati, and received his 33rd Degree in 1997 in Grand Rapids, Mich. He was a member, past master and past secretary of the Winchester Lodge 236 F&AM and honorary member of the Western Sun Lodge 91 in Wheelersburg, Lucasville Lodge 465, Manchester Lodge 317, Orient Lodge 321 in Waverly, Aurora Lodge 48 in Portsmouth and Peebles Lodge 581. He was the past district deputy grand master and past district lodge education officer of the 7th Masonic District. He was past member and deacon of the Hillsboro Church of Christ and present member of the Countryside Church of Christ in Seaman.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Julie (Kirk) Knoblauch of Wilmington and Jennifer (Josh) Brownlee-Parrott of Cincinnati; a special adopted daughter, Tena Fulton Seeling of Cincinnati; four grandchildren, Bethany Kiley of Colorado, Lindsay Kiley of Wilmington, Claire Stirsman of Cincinnati and Lydia Gwen-Marie Parrott of Cincinnati; two sisters, Mary Stern of Seaman and Jan Brownlee of Columbus; and two brothers, Jack Brownlee of Columbus and Allen Brownlee of Dayton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Willis and Carl Brownlee.
Services will be held at noon Saturday at the Countryside Church of Christ in Seaman, Walter Chamberlain officiating, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Adams County Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at TURNER & SON FUNERAL HOME, 602 N. High St., Hillsboro and from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church. Masonic services and the Scottish Rite Ring services will be held 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Clinton County, 61 E. Norman W. Woodgeard
Died: Monday, May 13, 2002
Age: 73
Norman W. Woodgeard, 73, of Wilmington, died Monday (May 13, 2002) at the University Hospital, Cincinnati. He is survived by his wife, Beulah F. Shoupes Woodgeard. They were married Oct. 26, 1961.
Mr. Woodgeard was born May 12, 1929, in Lancaster, son of the late Clayton R. and Hazel Smith Woodgeard. He was a member of the Wilmington Church of God, where he served as the Sunday School superintendent. He retired as operator from 68 Auto Parts. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Kathy S. (Larry) Latimer of Sidney, Hazel M. (Albert) Cochran and Crystal G. Woodgeard of Wilmington; three sons, Norman R. Woodgeard, Daniel M. (Penny) Woodgeard and Joseph A. Woodgeard of Wilmington; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth Woodgeard of West Union.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph, Orville, Melvin and Raymond Woodgeard.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at the Wilmington Church of God, with burial in Green Summit Cemetery in Adelphi. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from noon to 1 p.m. at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of LITTLETON FUNERAL HOME, 104 N. Jackson St., Sabina.
James Howard Barnhill

James Howard Barnhill, 62, of 901 Forest Drive, Garner, N.C., died Sunday (May 12, 2002). He is survived by his wife, Diane Stephens Barnhill.
Mr. Barnhill was born June 4, 1939, son of the late Dan C. and Maude Collins Barnhill.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Vonda (Joseph) Cecil of Benson; a son, Brent (Rebecca) Barnhill of Benson; two sisters, Bernice Prince of Fairbluff, N.C., and Elaine Drew of Nichols, S.C.; two brothers, D.C. Barnhill of Mullins, S.C.; and Kermit Barnhill of Fairmont, N.C.; and two grandchildren, Houston and Landon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Seciley V. Barnhill; and four brothers, LeRoy (Penny) Barnhill, Beamon Barnhill, Vernon Barnhill and J.C. Barnhill.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at First United Pentecostal Church in Raleigh, N.C., with burial in Montlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner, N.C.

Corwin Dean Corky Craft

Age: 65
Corwin Dean "Corky" Craft, 65, of Sabina, died Sunday (May 12, 2002) at his residence.
Mr. Craft was born Sept. 7, 1936, in Dayton, son of the late Charles and Christine Dulli Craft. He retired from NCR as a senior program/analyst. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He attended the Sabina Methodist Church. He graduated in 1954 from Sabina High School and attended the University of Cincinnati.
He is survived by a sister, Connie (Donald) Vance of Leesburg; two nieces, Cathy (Tony) Arnold of Sabina and Linda Vance of Washington Court House; a nephew, Dale (Tracy) Vance of Sabina; three great-nieces, Carly and Lauren Arnold and Bethanie Vance; and a great-nephew, Joshua Vance.
He was preceded in death by a nephew, Duane Vance.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the LITTLETON FUNERAL HOME, 104 N. Jackson St., Sabina, with burial in the Sabina Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Dora Dawson Moomaw
Died: Sunday, May 12, 2002
Age: 98
Dora Dawson Moomaw, 98, of rural Greenfield, died peacefully in her home at 3:21 a.m. Sunday (May 12, 2002). Her husband, George Louis Moomaw, died March 18, 1965. They were married Feb. 7, 1933.
Mrs. Moomaw was born Oct. 22, 1903, on Hackleshin Road near Locust Grove in Adams County, daughter of the late John Henry and Euphemia Alice Double Dawson. She was engaged in farming for almost 70 years. She formerly was a member of Sorosis, was an artist and loved her vegetable garden.
She is survived by two daughters, Jean (Glatis) Aldridge of Sabina and Carol Moomaw Davis of Greenfield; three grandchildren, Jeffrey (Lori) Aldridge of Lebanon, Beverly Aldridge (Tony) Harper of Grove City, and David Aldridge of Columbus; and three great-grandchildren, Dan and Ellen Aldridge of Lebanon and Andrew Harper of Grove City.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Lou Moomaw, five sisters, Minnie D. Dawson, Monnie P. Burns, Roacy M. Dawson, Alma Cleo Humphrey and Gracie Dawson; and three brothers, John E. Dawson, Delbert H. Dawson and Baby Dawson.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the ANDERSON-STRUEVE FUNERAL HOME, 306 S. Washington St., Greenfield, the Rev. Mark E. Click officiating, with burial in Greenfield Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of the services Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mary Frances Van Dervort McKindsey

Age: 92
Mary Frances Van Dervort McKindsey, 92, died Wednesday (May 8, 2002) in South Dennis, Mass. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Sterling McKindsey.
Mrs. McKindsey was born in Wilmington, daughter of Mary and P.H. Van Dervort. She graduated in 1931 from Wilmington College and attended the University of Wisconsin. In 1966, she moved to Cape Cod, Mass. She was retired from the Hyannis Public Library.
She is survived by a daughter, Marifran McKindsey of Cotuit, Mass.; two grandsons, Sean Reynolds of Cotuit, Mass., and James V. McKindsey of Bowling Green, Ky.; a daughter-in-law, Phyllis McKindsey of Bowling Green, Ky.; and two sisters, Anne V. Hesse of Yarmouthport, Mass., and Eleanor V. Talbot of Dayton.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James V. McKindsey.
Funeral services and burial will be private. Frances Marie Smith
Died: Sunday, May 26, 2002
Frances Marie Smith, who resided at Friendly Center, Wilmington, died 4 a.m. Sunday [May 26, 2002] at Blanchester Care Center.
She was born June 29, 1906, in Zanesville, daughter of the late Lafayette Dailey and Edith Dailey Bauer.
On Aug. 10, 1931, she married Harold F. Smith of Malta, who died in Wilmington in 1994.
After graduating from Meredith Business College she began a career as a bookkeeper and a secretary at Burnham Boiler. She retired after several years as a switchboard operator at Bethesda Hospital in Zanesville. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Zanesville.
Mrs. Smith is survived by a daughter, Cynthia S. Smith and friend Suzanne Hamilton of Blanchester; one sister, Dorothy E. Brooks of Friendly Center, Wilmington; and sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Dailey of Bethany Lutheran Village, Dayton, and Mary Alice Mark of Tucson, Ariz.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at Greenwood Cemetery, Zanesville, with Pastor Keith Lingsch officiating.
