FORT WAYNE, IN -- Former Woodburn, IN resident Charlotte K. Sheets, 50, died on Monday, June 26, 2000 at Hospice Home of Northeast Indiana.
Born in Hicksville, she was employed for 33 years at Lincoln National Life Insurance Co., where she was an executive administrative assistant.
Surviving are her mother, Geneve, Woodburn; and two brothers, Charles D., Dublin, OH, and Louis E., Noblesville, IN.
Services were held at 10 a.m. (Indiana time) Thursday, June 29 at E. Harper and Son Funeral Home, New Haven, IN. Burial was in Christ Lutheran Cemetery, Woodburn.

Delmar Schliesser
MARK CENTER, OH - Mr. Delmar E. Schliesser, 84, who resided at 10950 Wonderly Road, died at 1:50
a.m. Sunday, July 2, 2000 at the Hawthorn Court Nursing Home at Paulding, OH where he had been a
patient since May 31. He had been in failing health for the past several months.
Mr. Schliesser was born January 13, 1916 at Defiance County, Ohio, the son of Arnold and Elnora Mitchell Schliesser.
He graduated from the Mark Center High School with the Class of 1934.
July 12, 1964 he was united in marriage with Bonnie Kernes at Payne, OH.
He had worked at Compo Corp., Defiance, OH, and retired from Grizzley Corp., in Paulding, OH
in 1980 after 29 years of service. He was a farmer and breeder of race horses, also a driver.
He was a past member of the Hicksville Gospel Tabernacle Church, Hicksville Eagles Lodge,
Hicksville Horseman Association, United Trotters Association, past member of the Defiance County Posse Sheriff Association.
Surviving him are: his wife, Bonnie; three sons, Lue, Waynesville, OH; Jack and Doug, both of Mark Center, OH; one daughter, Dorothy Christy, Columbus, OH; 15 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
Funeral services were held in the Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville, at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 4. Rev. Pentti Maki, Pastor of the Hicksville St. John Lutheran Church, officiated.
Burial was in the Sherwood Cemetery, Sherwood, OH. Preferred memorials to the donor's choice.
John Rath
BRYAN -- John F. Rath, 80, died on Friday, May 4, 2001 shortly after arrival at his residence in Bradenton, FL.
He was born on October 1, 1920 in Defiance County, the son of Edgar B. and Fern (Wines) Rath. On December 17, 1939, in Bryan, he married Arlene E. Kittredge, who survives.
He owned and operated Rath Trucking until 1951. He retired from Pet Milk, Bryan, in 1984 after 31 years of service. He was a former Center Township Trustee.
He served with the Pacific Eleventh Army Airborne Division in World War II.
He was a member of Melbern United Methodist Church, the Sodom Grange and the Ponoma Grange, and a life member of the Williams County Conservation League.
Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Darlene) Goebel and Mrs. Joe (Connie) Cape, both of Edgerton, and Judy Smith (and Keith Hart) of Bryan; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Evelo Schelling, Montpelier; and three brothers, Junior, Montpelier, James, Hicksville, and Walter, New Jersey.
Services were Thursday, May 10 at 1:30 p.m. in Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, with Pastor Diane Schaffner and Bill Priest officiating. Burial will follow in Yackey Cemetery, near Bryan, with graveside military rites conducted by the John D. Smith Post 10 of the American Legion.
Memorials may be made to the Bryan GALA Senior Center Building Fund or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Carl Cook
HAMILTON LAKE, IN -- Carl C. Cook, 84, died at 10:53 p.m. (Indiana time) Friday, May 11, 2001 at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN.
He was born on December 27, 1916 in Hicksville, the son of Robert "Doc" and Augusta (Cole) Cook. He graduated from Hicksville High School in 1936. On October 10, 1946 he was united in marriage with Dorothy Roberts in Covington, KY. She died on August 17, 1979. His wife, Esther (Ankney) also preceded him in death.
He was a former Hicksville resident who spent the winters in Palmetto, FL for several years.
He was a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Post Office, Hicksville, retiring in 1973.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Corps; he was also a prisoner of war in Germany.
He was a member of the Hicksville VFW and the Hicksville American Legion.
Surviving are three sons, Douglas, Cecil, David, Butler, IN, and Dennis, Sequim, WA; three sisters, Maude Straley, Hicksville, Betty Snyder, Harlan, IN, and Alice White, Franklin Lake, NJ; two brothers, Garold and Robert, both of Hicksville; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, George.
A memorial service was held in Brown Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Monday, May 14, with Todd Cook officiating.

Herbert Sudholtz
SHERWOOD -- Herbert W. Sudholtz, 84, died at 3:30 a.m. (Indiana time) on Thursday, May 10, 2001 at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN, where he had been a patient since May 3.
He was born on October 11, 1916 in Defiance County, the son of Ernest and Julie (Miller) Sudholtz. On February 17, 1946 he was united in marriage with Mariana Notestine, Defiance.
He retired from Diehl's, Inc. in 1981 after over 30 years of service.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Sherwood, and the Ney American Legion.
Surviving are his wife, Mariana; one son, Alfred, and one daughter, Arlene Murphy, both of Sherwood; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Rachel Troeger, Ayersville, Justina Boesling, Defiance, and Jeanette Wilson, Wauseon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Louise.
Funeral services were held at the church at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 12, with Pastor Robert D. Eble officiating. Burial was in Sherwood Cemetery with graveside services conducted by the Sherwood VFW.
