Annie White
GROVER HILL, OH -- Annie R. White, 79, died on Monday evening, January 22, 2001 at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN, where she had been a patient for 11 days.
She was born on April 1, 1921 in Van Wert County, the daughter of George F. and Florence E. (McArthur) Bolenbaugh. On January 29, 1943 she married Paul E. White, who survives. She lived most of her married life in Grover Hill.
She was a homemaker.
Surviving are her husband, Paul; two daughters, Colleen (Randy) Green, Hicksville, and Iris Grubenhoff, Grover Hill; two sons, Alan, Van Wert, and Kevin, Antwerp; four grandchildren; one brother, Frank Bolenbaugh, Goodson, MO; and one sister, Zella Tucker, New Madrid, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Teresa Waskelo, and one brother, Jack Bolenbaugh.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, January 26 at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding. Burial was in Middle Creek Cemetery, Grover Hill.

Inez Smith
NEW HAVEN, IN -- Former Hicksville resident Inez A. Smith, 87, died at 6:29 a.m. Sunday, February 4, 2001 at Hospice Home of Northeast Indiana, Fort Wayne, IN.
She was born on April 17, 1913 in Allen County, IN, the daughter of William and Rose (Haugenbucher) Stasell. On April 19, 1939 in Monroeville, IN, she married Maurice W. Smith, who preceded her in death. She resided in Hicksville until about a year ago.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and the Rosary Altar Society, and a former member of St. Michael's choir and the Spencerville, IN Homemakers Club.
Survivors include two sons, James, Spencerville, and William, Aliquippa, PA; four daughters, Martha Smith, New Haven, Mary Ann White, Peru, IN, Kristine Freyer, New Castle, IN, and Caroline Smith, Warner Robbins, GA; 12 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a son, Thomas Jay; two brothers, Harold Stasell and Leonard Stassell; and a sister, Eva Martin.
Funeral services will be held at the church at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 7 (today). Father Thomas Oedy will officiate. Burial will be in Maumee Cemetery, Antwerp. A Catholic vigil service was held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 6 at Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp.

Paul Kerr, M.D.
HICKSVILLE -- Paul B. Kerr II, M.D., 419 East High Street, died at 12:33 a.m. Friday, February 2, 2001 in Community Memorial Hospital. He had been in failing health for several months.
He was born on June 8, 1919 in Hicksville, the son of Paul B. I and Bereneice (Barnes) Kerr. He graduated from Hicksville High School in 1936. He attended Ohio University, Athens, OH, where he received his B.A. degree in law and commerce. He studied pre-med at Ohio University and graduated from Ohio Medical School in 1948. On October 15, 1943 he was united in marriage with Gloria Staples in Butler, PA. The Kerrs moved to Hicksville in 1955.
He retired from medical practice on November 30, 2000 after over 45 years.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Hicksville Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Toledo, Hicksville VFW, Hicksville American Legion, Ohio State Medical Association and American Medical Association. He was a member of the Hicksville Exempted Village School Board for seven years. He was a longtime member of the Board of Governors of Community Memorial Hospital, the Hicksville Bank Board of Directors, and the Hicksville Rotary Club. He was Rotary's Citizen of the Year in 1983.
Surviving are his wife, Gloria; one son, Paul B III, Newport News, VA; one daughter, Debbie Doeden, Middlebury, IN; and five grandchildren.
There will be no calling.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Brown Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

James Hale
HICKSVILLE -- James Hubert Hale, 69, 11184 Farmer-Mark Road, died at 11:35 a.m. Tuesday, January 30, 2001 at his home.
He was born on July 12, 1931 in Dante, VA, the son of Gordon and Helen (Dickenson) Hale. On March 31, 1954 he married June Edwards, who survives.
He was a mill wright for 35 years at General Motors, Defiance.
He served in the US Marines during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Antwerp.
Other survivors include four daughters, Terry Taylor, Defiance, Kathy and Lisa, both of Hicksville, and Vickie Holcomb, Sherwood; two brothers, Ira and George, both of Lebanon, OH; two sisters, Madeline McCoy and Frances Rynes, both of Castlewood, VA; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Neil, and a baby sister.
Funeral services were held at the church on Friday, February 2 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Jim Edwards officiating. Burial took place at Lost Creek Cemetery.
Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp, was in charge of arrangements.

Josephine Lowden-Smith
FORT WAYNE, IN -- Josephine F. Lowden-Smith, 75, died on Monday, January 29, 2001 at Lutheran Hospital.
She was born in Woodburn, IN.
She retired in 1987 as an executive secretary at Magnavox Government Industrial Electronics Co. after 26 years.
Surviving are her husband, David Gene Smith; three daughters, Vona Grimes, Fort Wayne, Gloria, Kokomo, IN, and Mary, Beaverton, MI; a son, Brian, Fort Wayne; a sister, Mary Conner, Hicksville; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, February 2 at Hockemeyer Funeral Home, Harlan, IN. Burial was in Harlan Memorial Cemetery.
