Pauline Poth
HICKSVILLE -- Pauline F. Poth, 86, 07404 Buckskin Road, died at 2:50 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2001 in Park View Nursing Care Center, Edgerton, where she had been a patient for the past two years.
She was born on September 25, 1914 in Junction, OH, Paulding County, the daughter of Benjamin and Elizabeth (Sprow) Brown. She graduated from Antwerp High School in 1932. On December 16, 1933 she was united in marriage with Maurice "Bud" Poth in Paulding County; he died in 1979.
She was a homemaker her entire life.
She was a member of Mark Center United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
Surviving are one son, Larry, Hicksville; one daughter, Mrs. Stanley (Marilyn) Carr, Edgerton; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mildred Tustison, Hicksville.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Paul Brown.
Friends may call at Brown Funeral Home after 9 a.m. Wednesday, February 14 (today).
Funeral services will be in the funeral home at 11 a.m. February 14 with Pastors Tom Graves and Clarence Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be in Lost Creek Cemetery.
Preferred memorials to Hospice-Williams County, Mark Center United Methodist Church, or the donor's choice.
Robert Miller
BUTLER, IN -- Robert W. Miller, 66, 7804 CR 50, died at his home at 6 a.m. Sunday, February 11, 2001 after apparently suffering a heart attack.
He was born on October 17, 1934 in Allen County, IN, the son of Elmer and Pauline Marie (Lindenmayer) Miller.
He had worked at International Harvester, Fort Wayne, IN, and retired from the International Harvester plant in Springfield, OH.
Surviving are three sons, Mike, Antwerp, Larry, Hicksville, and Ron, Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Don, Warsaw, IN, Gaylord, Columbia City, IN, and Paul, Fremont; three sisters, Jean Johnson, Florence, AL, Delores Bowling, Deming, NM, and Maxine Meredith, Fort Wayne.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Ringenberg, Normal, IL, and Janet Kumfer, Fort Wayne.
Friends may call at Brown Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Wednesday, February 14 (today) and after 9 a.m. Thursday, February 15.
Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. February 15 with Lloyd Turnbull officiating. Burial will be in Fremont.
Dorothy Rohrs
HICKSVILLE -- Dorothy M. Rohrs, 85, SR 18 E, died at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2001 at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN, where she had been a patient for the past month.
She was born on September 16, 1915 in Ney, the daughter of Merle and Elsie (Huber) Neiswender. She graduated in 1933 from Hicksville High School and in 1937 from Defiance College. She did graduate work on her MA in education at Miami University. On June 8, 1941 she was united in marriage with George H. Rohrs in Hicksville, and he survives.
She taught English in the public schools, including 17 years in Hicksville.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was a pianist and organist for over 70 years. She also taught Sunday school for many years. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association of Ohio, the Acme Club, Hicksville (where she had been President), the Loyal Workers Farm Women's Club and the Defiance County Farm Women's Federation.
Also surviving are two sons, Brian, Hicksville, and Alan, Sylvania, OH; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in Brown Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Friday, March 23, with Revs. Thomas Graves and Don Rohrs officiating. Burial was in Lost Creek Cemetery.
Aileen Little
HICKSVILLE -- Aileen M. Little, 85, formerly of 413 Spencerville Street, died at 5:55 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2001 at Fountain Manor Care Center, where she had been a resident since October 21, 1998.
She was born on September 13, 1915 in Antwerp, the daughter of Guy and Ethel (Seslar) Boylan. She graduated from Harlan High School, Harlan, IN, in 1933. On February 13, 1943 she was united in marriage with Frank Little at Ossian, IN; he died on February 18, 1989.
She had worked at Mentzer Five and Ten store in Hicksville, Syncro in Hicksville and Blakeslee Canning Factory, Blakeslee, OH.
She was a member of Hicksville Gospel Tabernacle and the Oriental Missionary Society.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. B.J. (Shirley) Yoder, Hicksville; one son, Jim, Delaware, OH; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, LaVon Boyland, Lessburg, FL, and Lester Boylan, Auburn, IN; and one sister, Ruth Nusbaum, Spencerville, IN.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were held in Brown Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, with Pastors Bud Yoder and Thad Ford officiating. Burial was in Scipio Cemetery, Allen County, IN.
Preferred memorials to Gideons International or Fountain Manor Activity Department.
Bernard Haver
MARK CENTER -- Bernard R. Haver, 74, died at 12:30 p.m. (Indiana time) Thursday, April 5, 2001 at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN, where he had been a patient for several hours.
He was born on February 22, 1927 in Mark Township, Defiance County, the son of Jesse and Erma (Bernard) Haver. He attended school in Mark Center. On March 6, 1947 he was united in marriage with Dorothy Fry in Hicksville.
He retired from Rea-Magnet Wire, Fort Wayne, in 1984 after 40 years of service.
He was a veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the Sherwood VFW.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Tom, Defiance, and Daniel, Bryan; two daughters, Linda Doesburg, Bonita Springs, FL, and Lori, at home; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five sisters, Katherine Fisher, Lois Gump and Margaret Sailer, all of Hicksville, Dorothy Helen Teague, Coldwater, MI, and Carolyn Miller, Mark Center; and four brothers, Max, Sherwood, and Charles, Don and Lynn, all of Hicksville.
Preceding him in death were one daughter, June, and two brothers, Robert and Richard.
Funeral services were held at Brown Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Monday, April 9, with Rev. Clarence Zimmerman officiating. Burial was in Lost Creek Cemetery, with graveside military services by the Sherwood VFW.
