Charles Conklin
Charles L. Conklin, 63, of Ashley, died Saturday afternoon (Dec. 14, 2002) at his home.
He was born Sept. 21, 1939, in Delaware, to Max and Madge Conklin of Ashley. He was a lifetime resident of the Ashley area, a 1958 graduate of Elm Valley High School and a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Conklin was a member and vice-commander as well as a past commander of American Legion Post #518 in Ashley. He also belonged to Eagles Aerie #376 in Delaware.
Mr. Conklin was a farmer who worked in the livestock business for 30 years and was affiliated with Producers Livestock. He was a former manager of the Heinold Hog Market in Richwood.
He is survived by two daughters and two sons-in-law, Jo Dee and William Cole of Delaware and Joyce and Randy Leienberger of Ashley; four grandchildren, Corporal Joseph Pennington and his wife Danielle, Matthew Cole, and Jo Ann and Lisa Leienberger; a great-granddaughter, Hailey Pennington; two brothers and a sister-in-law, George and Kay Conklin of Ashley and Steve Conklin of Delaware; and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law and their spouses, Irene and Jack Allen of Ashley and Ray and Elnora Roberts of Croton.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 13 years, Charlotte Roberts Conklin, on June 15, 2002. He also was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Conklin, and his stepson, Jerry.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St., where services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the Green Mound Cemetery with military honors by the Delaware County Veterans Association. The family will receive friends at the Ashley American Legion post after the interment.

Gladys Shuter
Gladys Shuter, 88, of Sunbury, died Saturday evening (June 1, 2002) at Edgewood Manor of Westerville.
She was born March 7, 1914, in Wellston, to Harmon and Myrtle (Rhoades) Dew. She was a Sunbury-area resident for 41 years, moving from Columbus. She was a homemaker, a member of the Eight and 10 Club in Columbus, and of Sunbury United Methodist Church, where she was a Communion steward and a “Kitchen Angel.”
She is survived by her husband, Gerald “Bud” Shuter, whom she married Feb. 28, 1936 in Columbus; a brother-in-law and his wife, Arthur and Margaret Shuter of Fairfield Glade, Tenn.; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Walters and Clara Keene, both of Sunbury; nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; and special friends Jim and Diana Thorpe of Sunbury.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m., with Pastor Brian Smith officiating.
Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Columbus.

Ronald Evarts
Ronald R. Evarts, 60, of Sunbury, died Friday evening (Oct. 11, 2002), at Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware.
He was born Sept. 10, 1942, in Galena, to Paul and the late Emma Louise (Mantor) Evarts. He was a machine operator for Alpha Industries in Delaware.
He is survived by his father; cousins Joanne and Marlene; and friends.
Visiting hours will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio routes 3 at 61, Sunbury, where services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. Pastor Wayne Booth will officiate. Burial will follow in Galena Cemetery.

Juanita Meeker
Juanita I. Meeker, 82, of Sunbury, died Friday evening (Oct. 11, 2002), at Grady Memorial Hospital.
She was born Sept. 29, 1920, in Lynchburg, Va., to the late Cecil and Sarah (Brown) Meadows. She was a member of First Baptist Church and retired from Hills Department Store, where she worked as a clerk. Mrs. Meeker enjoyed caring for her great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Cecil and Sandra Meeker of Port Charlotte, Fla.; daughters Peggy and her husband Richard Ford of Sunbury and Elaine McKenzie of Blacklick; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters Lee Ford of Stauton, Va., and Virginia Thomas of Delaware.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph J. Meeker, on Sept. 6, 1984; son Donald in January 1998, brother Bud; sister Dorothy Garrett; and a great-granddaughter.
Visiting hours will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, at Ohio routes 3 at 61 in Sunbury, where services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Sunbury Memorial Park.

Thomas Emerson Andrews
Thomas Emerson Andrews, 77, of Delaware, died Friday (May 30, 2003) at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
He was born Dec. 18, 1925 in Delaware, to William and Gladys (Moore) Andrews. He was a 1943 graduate of Willis High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a TBM turret gunner. He was a lifetime Delaware resident and retired after 35 years with Fuller Monument Works.
Mr. Andrews is survived by his wife of 56 years, Maxine (Salmon), whom he married June 14, 1947; a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Randy Crist of Delaware; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Lowell and Janice Andrews of Delaware, Francis and Sandra Andrews of Defiance and William Andrews of Bradenton, Fla.; a sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Richard Mead of Brooksville, Fla.; a granddaughter and her husband, Tara and Rob Andrews-Kunce; a grandson and his fiancée, James Keeton and Sherry of Lewis Center; a grandson and his wife, Travis and Kelly Keeton of Westerville; three great-grandchildren, Tayler, Macie and Tina; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, June Richmond.
Visiting hours will be Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Robinson Funeral Home, 32 W. Winter St., where a funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Carl Schaefer of Grace United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery with graveside military honors by the Delaware County Veterans Association.

Margaret Louise Kaelber Bernow
Margaret Louise Kaelber Bernow, 85, of Marion, died Thursday (Feb. 5, 2004) at the Kingston Residence.
She was born Aug. 25, 1918 in Marlboro Township to the late Jacob Wesley and Alma Moyer Kaelber. She married Melvin C. Bernow on May 25, 1941 in Waldo. She was a 1936 graduate of Waldo High School and a 1940 graduate of Ohio State University with a degree in music education. She began her teaching career at Concord and Cable Schools near Urbana.
She also taught at the Martel, Morral and Pleasant schools in Marion County. She was a member of the Literature Study Club, the Lecture Recital Club, and the Waldo United Methodist Church. Her passion was the piano and she was an accomplished classical pianist who perfected her skills even into her 70s by taking lessons from Robert Lawrence at Ohio Wesleyan University. Family members fondly remember gathering around her piano to sing hymns.
She is survived by her husband; one son, Robert (Betty Jo) Bernow; grandchildren, Natalie (Michael) Anderson of Lebanon, Heidi Niles of Marion, and David Bernow of Marion; two sisters, Ruth Retterer of Marysville and Doris (Warren) Groves of Charlottesville, Va.; a brother, Donald (Dorothy) Kaelber, of Delaware; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert (Bernadette) Kaelber.
Funeral services were to be at 10:30 a.m. today at the Waldo United Methodist Church, with the Rev. William Thomas officiating. Burial was to be in Waldo Cemetery.

Mary Catherine Heffner
Mary Catherine Heffner, 78, of Anderson, Calif. and formerly of Delaware, died Friday (Feb. 6, 2004) at her residence.
She was born Sept. 10, 1925 in Delaware and later moved to southern California. She was a former deputy sheriff, probation officer and dispatcher in southern California. She was past president of Epsilon Sigma Alpha and enjoyed crocheting and sewing.
She is survived by two sons, Gerald Heffner of Dallas, Ore., and William Heffner of Seattle; her daughter, Linda Gregory of Anderson; three brothers, Donald Frost of LaMesa, Calif., Robert Frost of Sacramento, Calif., and Douglas Frost of Santa Ana, Calif.; three sisters, Geneva Evans of Delaware, Helen Frost of Palm Springs, Calif., and Paula Poore of Red Bluff, Calif.; six grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Heffner.
Bethel O. Havens
Bethel O. Havens, 84, of Radnor, died Saturday (Sept. 27, 2003) at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born Oct. 8, 1918 in Hager, W.Va., to Walter and Lillie Adkins Cooper. A resident of Radnor since 1955, she was retired from Ohio Wesleyan University, where she worked as a housekeeper. She enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren, quilting, and talking on the phone with her close friends. She was a devoted, loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Delbert; two daughters, Mary Ann Tate of Delaware and Rose Lee Monette of Marion; three grandchildren, Jodie and Nicole Monnette, and Brian Weiser; and one sister, Vonnie Porter of West Hamlin, W.Va.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Odell Adkins; and a son, Leslie Lucas.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bennett Brown Rodman Funeral Home, 92 N. Sandusky St., where funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m., with Pastor Wayne Keith of Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church officiating.

Jean A. Reisinger
Jean A. Reisinger, 77, of Delaware, died at home Sunday (Dec. 7, 2003).
She was born June 19, 1926 in Ostrander, to Elsie and Lois (Mobley) Rhoades. She graduated from Ostrander High School in 1944. She resided in Indian Lake before returning to Delaware 12 years ago. She retired from Ranco after 28 years and was a member of Delaware Moose and Indian Lake Eagles lodges. She loved to travel and enjoyed visiting Hawaii, Spain, Africa, Mexico, the Caribbean, California, North Carolina, Georgia, Texas, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and her yearly trips to the beautiful mountains of Colorado. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cheering on bowlers, gambling, watching birds, music, sunflowers and her grand dogs.
She is survived by one daughter, P.J. Taylor of Delaware; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Rodney L. and Joyce Long of Stow and Bill Geary of Westerville; three grandchildren, Trevor Long of Steubenville, Skilor Long of Stow and Ian Geary of Westerville; two great-grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Anita and Wayne Knisley of Colorado, Joan Shanahan of Columbus, and Sue and Jim Green of Radnor; and many wonderful and loving nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by a son, Tony Long; a sister, Darlene Mitchell; and a brother, Marvin Horner.
A private graveside service will be held at Newhouse Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a gathering in her honor Dec. 13 at 4 p.m., at the home of Jim and Sue Green, 3767 Radnor Road. The family would like to express appreciation to the wonderful people at Hospice for all their love, support and assistance.

Juanita M. Bump
Juanita M. Bump, 85, of Delaware, died Saturday (April 3, 2004) at Delaware Court Health Care Center.
She was born Sept. 20, 1918 in Mason County, W.Va., to Stacy and Anna (Jones) Myers. She had been a resident of Delaware since childhood and attended Willis High School. Mrs. Bump was an licensed practical nurse at the Jane M. Case Osteopathic Hospital and was Dr. Thomas’ LPN for 25 years. She was a member of the Eagles Lodge. She enjoyed fishing at the family’s summer home at Bass Haven on Lake Erie and also enjoyed baseball.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, James; two daughters and sons-in-law, Eleanor and Fred Feaver of Galloway and Dixie and John Sampson of Hilliard; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Lillian and Bill Rece of Lewisburg, Ky.; a sister-in-law, Mary Myers of Delaware; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Belt and Uvalda Martin; and two brothers, James and Okey Myers.
Visiting hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Robinson Funeral Home, 32 W. Winter St., where the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, with Pastor Jay Watts officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
