Ralph Edward Nickels
Ralph Edward Nickels, 63, of Ostrander, died unexpectedly Friday morning (Jan. 13, 2006) at his residence.
He was born Aug. 11, 1942 in Fairview Park to Harold Nickels and Mildred (Pillot) Nickels. He was a retired State of Ohio Highway Patrolman, U.S. Air Force veteran serving in Vietnam, and president of the Golden Endings Golden Retriever Rescue in Ostrander. He had lived most of his life in Delaware County.
He is survived by two stepdaughters, Stacie (Jay) Fuller of Dublin and Lisa (Pat) Thomas of Richwood; one stepson, James Wallace of Lewis Center; two granddaughters, Maya Christine and Ella Elizabeth Fuller; sister, Jan (Dave) Emery of Farmington Hills, Mich.; niece, Beth (Todd) Sinclair of Bloomfield, Mich.; two great-nephews, Travis and Bryce Sinclair; and a great-niece, Alexis Sinclair.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Barbara Jo Nickels on August 11, 2005.
Visiting hours will be from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Rodman Bennet Bown Funeral Home and Crematory, 92 N. Sandusky St., where funeral services will follow at 7 p.m., with the Rev. Robert Mathis officiating.

A Memorial Mass for Patrick James “Pat” Kelly, 60, who died Dec. 30, 2005 in Tarpon Springs, Fla., will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Kevin Kavanagh as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Robinson Funeral Home, 32 W. Winter St.

E. Juanita “Sally” Weyrick, 84, of Marengo, died Sunday morning (Jan. 15, 2006) at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. Arrangements will be announced by DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Marengo.
Dallas G. Wycoff Jr.
Dallas G. Wycoff Jr., 59, of Delaware, died at home Sunday evening (Jan. 15, 2006) following a six-month illness. Arrangements will be announced by DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Delaware.
Clarence M. Fritz
Clarence M. Fritz, 77, of Mount Gilead, died on Friday morning (Feb. 3, 2006) at the Morrow Manor Nursing Home in Chesterville.
He was a lifelong Morrow County resident, where he was born on Aug. 19, 1928, the son of the late Clarence M. and Hazel (Ritchey) Fritz.
He married his loving wife of more than 58 years, Mary (Jones) Fritz, on Sept. 21, 1947, at their home, where they lived their entire married life. He retired from Western Auto, where he was employed as a truck driver and fleet dispatcher. He had also been employed for many years at Sim’s Fertilizer, Division of Landmark and the Morrow County Highway Department while working his farm. For many years, he also served Harmony Township as both the clerk and a trustee. He was a member of the Harmony Chapel United Methodist Church, Chester Lodge No. 238 F.&A.M., and the Evelyn Chapter No. 146 O.E.S., where he was very active serving multiple terms as worthy patron and other stations. In 1972, he was appointed as an assistant grand sentinel O.E.S. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus and Aladdin Temple, A.A.O.N.M.S. of Columbus. In recent years, he took pleasure in eating out, feeding the birds, and playing with his faithful canine companions, Ginger and Sophie.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Patricia (Grove) Rinehart of Mount Gilead and Linda Fritz of Collierville, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Beth (Jeff) Gress of Granville and Shawn (Amy) Rinehart of Fredericktown; four great-grandchildren, Andrew and Sam Gress and Luke and Ben Rinehart; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Opal Fritz; and sister and brother-in-law, Annabell and Kermit Lewis.
The family greeted friends on Sunday and one hour prior to the funeral service today at Craven Funeral Home, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead, with the Rev. Joe Sopher officiating. Masonic services will be held at 5:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Chesterville.

Mary Alice Treese
Mary Alice Treese, 81, of Delaware, died Friday (Feb. 3, 2006) at Wintersong Village Nursing Home.
She was born July 8, 1924, in Ridgeway to George and Stella Burbaugh Clapsaddle and graduated from Byhalia High School. She spent most of her life time in Delaware. She was a retired Gazette paper carrier and was a retired employee of Buehler’s Floral Shop. She was a homemaker and a member of the Delaware Bible Church.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and Al Lloyd and Marcia and Terrie Price; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mel and Rita Treese and Merle and Debbie Treese, all of Delaware; 11 grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Helen Clapsaddle of Richwood; and niece, Carole Sue Greene of Delaware.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin, in 1981; and by her brother, George, in 1985.
Visitation was held Sunday at the Robinson Funeral Home, 32 W. Winter St., where services were held today, with the Rev. Steve Hovda officiating. Burial was in Fairview Memorial Park.

Kenneth Wiese Sr.
Kenneth Wiese Sr., 79, of Delaware, died unexpectedly Friday afternoon (Feb. 3, 2006) in the emergency room of Grady Memorial Hospital.
He was born Dec. 28, 1926 in London to Alva and Nellie Myler Wiese. He lived most of his life in Delaware and was co-owner of the Army Navy Club. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of VFW 3297, AMVETS 104 and the Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his sons, Kenneth Jr. (Sis) and Timothy; grandchildren, Christina (Adam) Lefever, Phil Stanley, McKenzie Bowen, Madison Bowen, Michaela Smith, Morgan Smith and Marria Smith; two great-grandchildren, Kassidy Lefever and Aidden Stanley; special friend, Doris Meyer; close friends, Christa Bowen and Lynn Smith; and a brother, Robert, all of Delaware.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank, Bill, Orris and Eldon; and a sister, Anita Phelps.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Rodman-Neeper Funeral Home, Bennett Brown Chapel, 92 N. Sandusky St. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Grove Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Delaware County Veterans Association.

Maureen Fitzgerald (Mrofka)
Maureen Fitzgerald (Mrofka), 57, of Delaware, died Friday morning (Feb. 10, 2006) at Grady Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 17, 1948 in Boston to James G. and Helen (Gearin) Fitzgerald. She received a master’s degree in vocational rehabilitation counseling and retired from the State of Ohio, working on the Governor’s Council for People with Disabilities; she was instrumental in creating the youth leadership forum. A Delaware resident since 1979, she enjoyed knitting, crafts and snow skiing.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Bruce Mrofka; sons, Gearin Fitzgerald Mrofka of Kent and Joshua Fitzgerald Mrofka of Delaware; four brothers, James (Frances) Fitzgerald of Boston, William (Anita) Fitzgerald of Australia, Richard (Gloria) Fitzgerald of Brockton, Mass., and Michael (Deborah) Fitzgerald of Natick, Mass.; two sisters, Patricia (James) O’Donnell of Acworth, Georgia and Regina (Paul) Gladu of Marlboro, Mass.; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, Bennett Brown Chapel, 92 N. Sandusky St., Delaware.

Walter Newton Humes
Walter Newton Humes, 72, of Delaware, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning (Feb. 7, 2006) in Haines City, Fla.
He was born April 13, 1933 in Delaware to Walter Newton Humes Sr. and Mildred (Coover) Humes. A member of the last graduating class from Brown High School in Kilbourne in 1951, he was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Panama. He was a was a retired Brown Township farmer, retired rural mail carrier after 38 years, and was a sales agent for the Trojan Seed Corn Company, and a lifelong member of the Kilbourne United Methodist Church. He also drove school bus for the Elm Valley School District in the late 1950s and early 1960s. While attending the Ohio State University, he was a member of the Pershing Rifle Unit. He was a former 4-H advisor and rural campaign chairman for the United Way, former member of the Board of Directors for the Delaware County Fair, and the Delaware County Red Cross. He was past president of the Delaware County Farm Bureau and the Delaware Jaycees and former coach in the Kilbourne little league and bowled for Smith’s automotive in the Delaware Lanes bowling leagues. Since 1991, he has been working for Mill Creek Golf Club, Ostrander and also with Liberty Hills Golf Club, Bellefontaine from 1996 to 2005. He enjoyed golfing, traveling and was very proud of his children and grandchildren. In 1960 he married Roberta (LeVrange) who survives.
He is also survived by a son, Gene (Becky) Humes of North Royalton; grandson, Joseph; granddaughter, Cara; sister, Lois (John) Kramer of Port Clinton.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Molly Ann Humes on July 30, 2004.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Feb. 19, 2006, at the Kilbourne United Methodist Church, 5591 Ohio 521, Kilbourne, with the Rev. Sonya Bender officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the services.

Marion L. Smith
Marion L. Smith, 87, of Delaware, died Saturday morning (Feb. 11, 2006) at Sarah Moore Health Care Center.
She was born Oct. 24, 1918 in Hamden, Conn., to Frederick and Florence (Wagner) Bartlett. She was a homemaker who had been a Delaware resident since 1940, a member of Delaware’s Calvary Baptist Church, Kilbourne Child Study Club and Kilbourne Pythian Sisters.
She is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Andrea of Westerville, Frederick and Charlotte of Zanesville, Thomas and Martha of Plain city, Paul and Tammy of Reynoldsburg and Phil and Ella of Delaware; a daughter, Nancy Griffin of Albuquerque, N.M.; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl, in 1991; and three sisters, Lois VanDeventer, Bernice Williams and Florence Vest.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, Bennett Brown Chapel, 92 N. Sandusky St., where funeral services are 11 a.m. Tuesday. Interment in Greenmound Cemetery in Kilbourne.
