Josephine A. “Jody” Johnson Wolverton
Josephine A. “Jody” Johnson Wolverton, 72, of Marengo, died Monday (Dec. 6, 2004) in Woodside Village Nursing Home.
She was born in Columbus on June 18, 1932 and worked as a telephone operator for an answering service there before moving to Marengo nearly 30 years ago. She was a member of the Marengo American Legion Post No. 710 Auxiliary and the V.F.W. Post. She enjoyed playing poker and bingo.
She is survived by her mother, Josephine G. (Pash) Stout of Mount Gilead; a brother, Jack (Lee) Van Dyke of Marengo; a sister, Janet (Keith) Simpson of Newcomerstown; several stepchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Earl E. VanDyke; her stepfather, Russell E. Stout; her husbands, Raymond J. Johnson and Robert Wolverton; and a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Ruth VanDyke.
Visiting hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Snyder Funeral Home, 76 S. Main St., Mount Gilead, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 9. Burial will follow in Marengo Cemetery.
Marguerite Benedict
Marguerite Benedict, 78, of Ashley, died at her home Monday evening (Dec. 6, 2004). Arrangements will be announced by DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury.
Pauline Gephart
Pauline Gephart, 92, of Kilbourne, died Sunday afternoon (Jan. 30, 2005) at her residence.
She was born Jan. 10, 1913 in Delaware County to Otho L. Williams and Hazel (Wolf) Williams. She was a homemaker who enjoyed quilting and providing treats to the Kilbourne community, including popcorn balls and cookies. She was a supporter of the Kilbourne United Methodist Church and was a friend to all.
She is survived by her daughter, Janet (John D.) Hickman of Columbus; eight grandchildren, Keith and Kent Gephart, Kathy (Joel) Robles, Karen Gephart, John H. (Gretel) Hickman, Holly (Bill) Heer, Matthew Gephart and Tim Fulton Gephart; seven great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Gephart of Ashley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard F. Gephart, in 1990; one son, Don, in 1990; a brother, Kenneth Williams; and a granddaughter, Lisa Fulton.
Visiting hours will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Rodman Bennett Brown Funeral Home, 92 N. Sandusky St., where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Sonja Bender officiating. Burial will follow in Greenmound Cemetery.

Marvin D. Sulser
Marvin D. Sulser, died Jan. 23, 2005 at St. Ann’s Hospital, Westerville.
He was a graduate of Powell High School and was a charter member of the Brookside Country Club. He built houses in Delaware County for over 50 years.
He is survived by two sons, Steven (Kathy) Sulser and Alan (Kaye) Sulser; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Helen Sulser; and a brother, Melvin Sulser.
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home, Worthington Chapel, 515 N. High St., Worthington, where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be held at a later date.

James C. 'Jim' Doup
James C. 'Jim' Doup, 58, of Ashley, died unexpectedly Monday (March 7, 2005) in Mount Carmel West Hospital.
He was born Jan. 25, 1947 in Mount Vernon to Garnet “Pete” C. and Vivian R. (Cochran) Doup. He had resided in Delaware County since 1958. He was a 1964 graduate of Buckeye Valley High School and served in the National Army Reserves. He was retired as an installer/repair person from GTE/Verizon after 31 years. He loved fishing and golfing, and was an avid card player.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 26 years, Diana; a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Helyn Doup of Lewis Center; a daughter, Lesley Doup-Broadwater of Ashley; five grandchildren, Colton, Kennedie, and Kaden Doup, and Abbigayl and Layne Broadwater; his faithful companion, Boomer; and cousins.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Lynn; and his parents.
Visiting hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Robinson Funeral Home, 32 W. Winter St. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Ashley Union Cemetery, with the Rev. Harold Holmes officiating.

Juanita Hill Sprague
Juanita Hill Sprague, 92, of Delaware, formerly of Westerville, died early Monday morning (March 7, 2005) at Sarah Moore Health Care Facility.
She was born Dec. 18, 1912 in Guysville in Athens County to Clint E. and Gladys Irene (Wyatt) Hill. She retired to Mesa, Ariz., in 1975, then came to Delaware in 1992. She worked as a welfare clerk at Riverside Methodist Hospital for 13 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by three children, Rex (Jane) Sprague of Delaware, Jennie Bell of Mesa, and David (Mini) Sprague of St. Paul, Neb.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Harry C. Hill of Groveport; and a sister, Eva McCune of Lancaster.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Sprague, on May 12, 1997; a sister, Virgene Davis; and a brother, Virgil Hill.
Visiting hours will be from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at Robinson Funeral Home, 32 W. Winter St., where funeral services will follow at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Deborah Patterson officiating. Private burial will be held Friday in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Charlotte A. Watkins
Charlotte A. Watkins, 77, of Radnor, died Sunday (March 6, 2005) at her home.
She was born March 15, 1927 in Radnor to Floyd and Helen (Caffee) Osborn. A lifetime resident of Radnor, she graduated from Radnor High School and Ohio Wesleyan University. She retired from teaching at Radnor Elementary after 33 years. She was a member of the Radnor United Church of Christ, a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and Mother’s Club and a lifetime member of the Ohio Education Association.
She is survived by her husband, Harold; two daughters, Denise (Mike) Edwards of Slidell, La., and Michele (Drew) Bright of Radnor; two sons, Mike (Teresa) and Dennis, all of Radnor; six grandchildren, Tracy Stojkov, Jessica Fell, Scott Fell, Austin Bright, Allison Bogdan, and Courtney Bright; two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Cole Stojkov; and a sister, Betty (Richard) Coonfare of Radnor.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Sue; and a sister, Jacquelin Watkins.
Visiting hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Robinson Funeral Home, 32 W. Winter St. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Radnor United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Linda Meredith officiating. Interment will follow in Radnor Cemetery.

Marilyn Haines, 80, of Delaware, died Monday evening (March 7, 2005) at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. Arrangements will be announced by Rodman Bennett Brown Funeral Home.
R. Olin Ross
R. Olin Ross, 97, of Columbus, died Saturday (April 30, 2005) at St. Ann’s Hospital, Westerville.
He was born Aug. 20, 1907 in Delaware County to the late William and Clara (Chambers) Ross. He was a retired vice president of sales for the Belmont Casket Co. and a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in World War II. He was a longtime member of Cheshire and Rural Chapel United Methodist churches, a 50-year member of the Capital City Lodge No. 656 F&AM, and was a member of the 32nd Degree Masons Valley of Columbus and Aladdin Temple Shrine.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Lucille Ross, sisters, Mildred Rae, Jessie (Dutcher) Weese and Alta Crowl; and brothers, Alton, Russell, Leland, Donald and Dale.
A celebration of life service will be held at Worthington Christian Village at a later date. A private family interment will be held at Union Cemetery.

Kenneth E. Snyder
Kenneth E. Snyder, 80, of Venice, Fla., died Thursday (April 28, 2005).
He was born Feb. 19, 1925 in Xenia. He moved from Delaware in 1986 after retiring as bank president of First National Bank in Delaware after 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion in Venice, the Sarasota chapter of the Chorus of the Keys; and a longtime member of the Waterford Golf Club of Venice. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a 1st Lieutenant.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Luella; one daughter, Lucinda Cimino of Delaware; two stepdaughters, Cheryl Cullen of North Brook, Ill., and Lynnea Amweg of Columbus; three sons, Donald Snyder of Tampa, Fla., Stephen Snyder of Urbana, and Bruce Snyder of Valrico, Fla.; two stepsons, Greg Page of Glenwood, Wash., and Joe Page of Lima; 11 grandchildren, eight stepgrandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; and one sister, Marjorie Lauver of Schaumburg, Ill.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Church of the Nazarene.

Harry James Spayde
Harry James Spayde, 70, of Delaware, died Sunday (May 1, 2005) at his home.
He was born May 1, 1935 in Shamokin, Pa., to Harry E. and Mary (Jones) Spayde. He moved to Delaware in 1971 and was a retired electrical engineer and retired owner of Spayde’s Pena-Deli. He was a member of Grace Brethren Church and The Welsh Society in Columbus.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Carol; three children, Yvonne Lapp of Moses Lake, Wash., Renee Thomas of Dayton, and Harry Spayde of Moses Lake, Wash.; five stepchildren, Judy Petty of Westerville, Debra Donaldson of Galion, LuAnn Randall of Troy, Terrie Randall of Pleasant Hill, and Donald Highman of Delaware; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary Ellen Koeberle of Coal Township, Pa., Nancy Zenuch of Gardners, Pa., and Beverly Berrier of Mount Joy, Pa.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Paula Covaleskie of Cinnaminson, N.J.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Grace Brethren Church, with the Revs. Gary Underwood and Darrell Anderson officiating.
