Robert F. Menaul Jr.
Robert F. Menaul Jr., 82, of Marengo, died Tuesday morning (Dec. 13, 2005) at Bennington Glen Care Center. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of the Worthington Presbyterian Church, 773 High St., Worthington, with the Rev. Charles Stenner officiating. Arrangements entrusted to the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Marengo. Memorial contributions may be made to the Menaul School, 301 Menaul NE, Albuquerque, NM 87107.

Anna Jane Stock
Anna Jane Stock, 87, of Delaware died early this morning (Dec. 14, 2005) at Wintersong Village in Delaware. Arrangements will be announced by the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Delaware.

Nell L. Stone
Nell L. Stone, 83, died this morning (Dec. 14, 2005) at St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville. Arrangements will be announced by DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury.

JoAnne Bielke
JoAnne Bielke, 47, of Delaware, died Sunday afternoon (Dec. 18, 2005) at the Arbors of Delaware.
She is survived by two daughters, Jill Gladman and Andrea Gladman; two sons, Kyle (Marla) Gladman and Harley Bielke; two grandchildren, Kyla and Mary Gladman; two sisters, Judy Gebhardt and Kathy (Donald) Wilgus; four brothers, Jack (Shirley) Maples, James (Doris) Maples, David (Theresa Gordan) Maples, and Tom (Pat) Maples; very special friend, Janice Lescalleet; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. today at Annie’s Outreach, 325 S. Sandusky St., Suite 100.
Rodman Bennett Brown Funeral Home and Crematory assisted the family with arrangements.

Russell P. DeWitt
Russell P. DeWitt, 80, of Sunbury, died Tuesday (Dec. 20, 2005) at his residence.
He was born July 7, 1925 to the late Bryan and DeVere DeWitt. He attended Sunbury High School and served 3 1/2 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a charter member of the Sunbury Hunters Club and the Sunbury Fire Department. DeWitt also served as trustee for Trenton Township and was retired from Anheuser Busch.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine (Pinkerman) DeWitt; son, Larry DeWitt of Sunbury; daughters, Velda Wise of Sunbury, Luana Smith of Mount Vernon, Cynthia Daily of Westerville, and Patricia Edwards of Delaware; sister, Betty (Earl) Griffith of Sunbury; stepson, Paul Feasel, of Marysville; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Vera Small of Grandview, Betty Gates of Gallipolis and Adele Ashley of Marysville; several nieces, nephews, and close friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Allen DeWitt, in 1981; and a brother, Bernard DeWitt, in 1996.
At his request, there will be no services. Private burial will be in Trenton Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Ohio Cremation and Memorial Society.

Lorraine “Cooky” Griest
Lorraine “Cooky” Griest, 63, of Delaware, died peacefully on her favorite day, Christmas (Dec. 25, 2005), at Wintersong Village Care Center.
She was born Oct. 1, 1942 in Chicago to the late Joseph and Eleanor (Alexa) Bretschneider. A 1960 graduate of Cambridge High School, she moved with her family to Delaware in 1969 from New Concord. Of a kind and generous spirit, she enjoyed gardening and making candles.
She is survived by her children, Dawna (Matt) Stowers of Delaware, Michael (Melissa) Griest of Ostrander, and Dan (Kellie) Griest of Delaware; grandchildren, Maegan, Allie, Hannah, Corey, Hope, James, Joshua, Cole, D.J., and Jace; sisters, Nancy (Ralph) Spragg of Florida and Betty (Robert) Batteiger of Indiana; and her former husband, Kenneth Griest Sr. of Crestview, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth R. “Butch” Griest Jr. on July 22, 2004.
A private gathering for the family will be held today at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Delaware, with Pastor Dan Bill officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 651 G. Lakeview Plaza Blvd., Worthington, Ohio 43085.

Ruth Lea Roope
Ruth Lea Roope, 80, of Marion, died early Christmas morning (Dec. 25, 2005) at Heartland of Marion Nursing Center.
Born in Wayland, Ky. on Feb. 23, 1925 to Lee and Kathryn (Weddington) Martin, she married Paul V. Roope on Feb. 23, 1946 and he preceded her in death in 1995. She was a member of the Marion Moose Lodge and American Legion Post No. 584. A devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was a unique and loving woman.
She is survived by four daughters, Sharon Kay (Ivan) Harmon of Marion, Anna (Ron) Green of Canton, Beverly (Dan) Barr of Marion, and Paula (Carl) Sizemore of Marion; seven grandchildren, Ryan Harmon, Matthew (Shelley) Green, Brian (Nicole) Green, Paul Cunningham, Kimberly (Scott) Rife, Scott E. Stephens and Chad Stephens; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Tamara Lane Roope; four brothers; and two sisters.
Visiting hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hughes-Allen Funeral Home, 318 Mount Vernon Ave., Marion, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, with Pastor Bobby Layne officiating. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery.

Phyllis Sparks
Phyllis Sparks, 67, of Sunbury, died Tuesday evening (Dec. 27, 2005) after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Arrangements are pending with DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury.

Betty J. Wright
Betty J. Wright, 74, of Delaware, died Tuesday evening (Dec. 27, 2005) at Grady Memorial Hospital. Arrangements will be announced by Rodman Bennett Brown Funeral Home.

Francis N. Butt
Francis N. Butt, 87, of Oxford, died early Sunday morning (Jan. 8, 2006).
He was born in Sunbury on Oct. 25, 1918. After graduating from North High School in Columbus, he was employed by the Curtis Wright Co. In 1942 he joined the Air Force and was deployed from Wright Patterson Air Force base in Dayton. After spending three and one-half years in the service, including two years in North Africa and Italy, he was honorably discharged in 1945 and returned to Columbus. In 1948 he moved to Delaware and started Delaware Heating Co. He became district sales manager for Iron Fireman Inc. in 1968. In 1971 he moved to Flushing, Mich., where he started the building and development firm Pinewood Downs, Inc. He retired in 1983 to live in Nokomis, Fla. and at their cottage near Whitefishfalls, Ontario, Canada. He was a 58-year member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and a 56-year 32nd Degree member of the Ancient & Scottish Rite of Free Masonry. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing bridge, golfing, fishing, and “tinkering” in his work sheds.
He is survived by his brother, Harold Butt of Hilliard; his sister, Justina Butt of Johnstown; his wife of 64 years, Waneta J. Butt (Garrabrant) of Oxford; his daughter, Carol Immelt of Hamilton and her husband Mark Immelt; his son, Norman Butt of Oxford and his wife Patti; granddaughters, Alyssa (Immelt) Miller and her husband Burke Miller of Hamilton, Stephanie and Julie Immelt of Oakbluffs, Mass., and Abby, Hanna, and Emily Miller; and grandsons, Samuel and Charles Butt of Oxford.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Daisy Butt; and his two brothers, Robert and Floyd Butt of Columbus.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Smith & Ogle Funeral Home, 5086 College Corner Pike, Oxford, OH 45056. Memorial donations may be made to the McCullough Hyde Hospital Memorial Trust, 21 Lynn Ave., Oxford, OH 45056.

Patrick James (Pat) Kelly
Patrick James (Pat) Kelly, 60, of Spring Hill, Fla., and formerly of Delaware, died Dec. 30, 2005 in the Tarpon Bayou Center of Tarpon Springs, Fla.
He was born May 9, 1945 in Delaware to Martin and Teresa (Conroy) Kelly. He graduated from St. Mary High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran and attended Ohio State University. He was a longtime butcher at the old Ekelberry Grocery Store and was a 30-plus year resident of Delaware before moving to Florida. While in Florida, he was a manager for Eckerd Drug Stores for 10 years, then became owner/operator of Kelly Greyhounds for 18 years. He was a member of the National Greyhound Association and Elks Lodge of Tarpon Springs. He attended St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church. He probably will best be remembered for his outgoing personality and wonderful sense of humor.
He is survived by two daughters, Michelle and Kerry Ann, both of Florida; five brothers, Joe, Tim, Dennis, Peter and Charlie, all of Delaware; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Robinson Funeral Home, 32 W. Winter St. A memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Jan. 18, with the Rev. Kevin Kavanagh as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.

Ruth V. Anthony
Ruth V. Anthony, 90, formerly of Delaware, died Dec. 30, 2005 in Raleigh, N.C. A funeral service took place Jan. 5, 2006 in Kittanning, Pa., where she was buried.

Lyleth (Gale) Brown
Lyleth (Gale) Brown, of Galion and formerly of Ashley, died earlier this year. A memorial service took place earlier this week in Galion.

Dorothy E. Sechrist
Dorothy E. Sechrist, 67, of Sunbury, died Monday (Jan. 9, 2006) after a seven-year struggle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Friends may call one hour prior to the 11 a.m. service Saturday at Sunbury United Methodist Church, 100 W. Cherry St., with the Rev. Donald Newland officiating. Interment will follow in Sunbury Memorial Park. The family requests donations be made to Sunbury United Methodist Church, 100 W. Cherry St., Sunbury, OH 43074 or Camp Fire USA, Central Ohio Council, 1515 W. Lane Ave., Suite 10, Columbus OH 43228. Arrangements were handled by DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 and Ohio 61, Sunbury.

Jerry L. 'PaPaw' Williams Sr.
Jerry L. “PaPaw” Williams Sr., 61, of Mount Vernon, died Monday (Jan. 9, 2006) at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the services, which will be at 11 a.m. Friday at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at Ohio 61, Sunbury. Entombment will follow at 1 p.m. Friday at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.

Larry A. Andrews
Larry A. Andrews, 63, of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., died Sunday afternoon (Jan. 29, 2006) at his residence.
He was born June 6, 1942 in Delaware to Thurman Andrews and Irene (Stowers) Cochenour. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1966 and worked for Hughes-Keenan in Delaware for many years as a truck driver. He loved having fun, boating, playing cards and working in his yard. In his younger years, he loved drag racing his Mustang.
He is survived by his wife, Cookie; a son, Dean A. Andrews of Westerville; a granddaughter, Heather of Westerville; a brother, Dale Andrews of Delaware; a sister, Sandy (Jim) Helton of Ashley; two half-sisters, Betty and Sueann; a half-brother, Bill Andrews; a stepdaughter, Carrie; stepgrandchildren, Dalton and Hunter; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Elsie Harter and Beverly Andrews; and twin brothers, Donnie and Ronnie Andrews.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, Bennett Brown Chapel, 92 N. Sandusky St., where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. Izetta Torina officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Delaware County Veterans Association.

Robert D. ‘Bob’ Barcus
Robert D. “Bob” Barcus, 72 of Sunbury, died Tuesday morning January 31, 2006 of a broken heart at Willow Brook Christian Home, Columbus.
He was born in Galena on April 6, 1933 to the late Leo W. and Edna (Bullock) Barcus. He was a lifetime resident of Delaware County, a graduate of Harlem School, a supervisor for Nestles, with 35 years of service before retiring in 1993 and assistant chief for BST&G Fire Department for 22 years. He was a member of Sunbury United Methodist Church, Sunbury Eagles and Loyal Order of the Moose, Delaware, and founder in 1995 of Harlem Boys Breakfast Club. He enjoyed camping; collecting antiques, including gas station memorabilia, tools, farm equipment, and hit-and-miss engines; car shows; hunting; and golf. He also was one of the founders of the New Year’s Open at Big Walnut Golf Course.
He is survived by two sons, Kenneth R. of Westerville and Randall D. of Hilliard; four grandchildren, R. Joseph (Jen), Stacy M., Hailey R. and Griffin R. Barcus; one great-grandson, Cody; a sister, Doris (Gene) Wampler of Sunbury; special friends, Kathy, Ashton, Chelsea, Heather, Alex, Don, Lucy and Ruby; and nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife and best friend, Dorothy E. (Jones) Barcus, on July 27, 2003; and two sisters, Ruth Pierce and Betty Garee.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at Ohio 61, Sunbury, where memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, with Pastor Brian Smith officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Trenton Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice at Grady, 561 W. Central Ave., Delaware, OH 43015.
