Merle A. Ball
Merle A. Ball, 59, of Sunbury, died unexpectedly Monday evening (Feb. 20, 2006) at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
He was born Dec. 27, 1946 in Delaware to Spencer Ball and Verda (Gould) Lowery. He was a senior chemist for Akzo Nobel in Columbus and was a United States Army veteran, serving in Vietnam. He lived most of his life in Delaware and was a member of the VFW No. 3297, Delaware. He enjoyed music, cooking, showing cats and loved his family.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Barbara (Baker); one daughter, Michelle (Gary) Uhrick of Lewis Center; one son, Jason Ball of Sunbury; three grandchildren, Austin, Brandon and Kate; and one sister, Pamela Ball of Marengo.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, Bennett Brown Chapel, 92 N. Sandusky St., where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. Marshall Hayden officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Delaware County Veterans Association.
Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Frances D. Harter
Frances Dorothy Reichman Berliner Harter, 89, died Feb. 16, 2006 at her home in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
She received her degree from New York University and earned her master’s in library science from Queens College in New York. She was a resident of Delaware from 1970 to 1984, where she was curator of the Methodist Church records of the state of Ohio at Ohio Wesleyan University. She and her husband, a 1944 graduate of OWU and chair of the languages department at OWU, maintained residences both in New York City and in Segovia, Spain before moving to Portsmouth in 2002. Her family and many friends around the world will miss her dearly.
She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Dr. Hugh Anthony Harter; daughter, Ellen Uma Berliner; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Albert Rudolph, daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Gowan Berliner, widow of her late son Andrew Berliner; grandchildren, Adam and Jonathan Rudolph, Rebecca Miranda, Sabrina Miles, Ryan Berliner-Matthes, Aaron, Carmen and Alexander Berliner; great-grandchildren, Sammy and Benjamin Rudolph and Madison and Mason Miranda.
Services were Tuesday in Great Barrington, Mass.

Joseph Collins Potter
Joseph Collins Potter, 97, of Delaware, died Jan. 25, 2006 at Friendship Village in Columbus.
He was born Sept. 11, 1908 in Columbus to Howard and Minnie (Collins) Potter. He graduated from Worthington High School, Ohio State University and was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. He was a home builder and farmer while living more than 50 years in Worthington and more than 40 years in Delaware County. He was a member of the William Street United Methodist Church, where he chaired the building committee for many years and was a member of the Berlin Township Farm Bureau Council.
He is survived by a son and his wife, F. Steven and Barbara Potter; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judith and Richard Hunter and Martha and Frank Otto; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Betsy Potter.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret “Peg;” a son, John; and two sisters, Ruth and Ellen Potter.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, Bennett Brown Chapel, 92 N. Sandusky St. Private burial will be in Flint Cemetery.

Gordon Etter
Gordon Etter, 83, died Friday (Feb. 24, 2006).
He was born July 23, 1922 in Paulding County to loving parents Otto and Ethel Etter. He was a 1940 graduate of Grover Hill High School and graduated in chemical engineering from Tri-State University in 1943. He joined the U.S. Navy and served as an office in World War II in the Pacific Theater. He married Lillian Moore, a lovely school teacher from Nicols, N.Y., on Oct. 10, 1946. Together, they raised six sons in St. Marys. He was a boy scout master for more than 20 years and was actively involved in his sons’ education, athletics and music. He worked for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., for more than 40 years, developing various new products. He and his wife retired to Mount Gilead to be closer to their sons and their families. He had a major stroke in 1992, but was able to recover and live at home over the next 13 years with the help of his loving family. He still enjoyed family and military reunions. He had a full life serving his country, his community, but even more serving his family and his God.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Lillian; six sons, Tom (Joan) of Grandview, Bob (Kim) of Westerville, Jon (Sharon) of Grandview, Ron (Rose) of Ashley, Roger (Evey) of Cardington and Dana (Gloria) of Brighton, Mich.; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Norma Howell of Lima, Barbara Doseck of New Knoxville and Delores Schmehl of St. Marys.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, Bennett Brown Chapel, 92 N. Sandusky St., where a funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. with the Delaware County Veterans Association providing military honors.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America.

John T. Jackson
John T. Jackson, 58, died Jan. 20, 2006.
He was a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist Church, a fund-raising chair for the United Way and the United Negro College Fund, a trustee for Central State University and the vice president of administration for Cincinnati Bell, with 30 years of service.
He was the companion of Kevin R. Spann; father of Jason Todd (Shirelle E.) Jackson and Jeffery Tilson (Jennifer L.) Jackson; former husband of Evelyn G. Jackson; son of the late Kenneth Robert and Martha V. Jackson; brother of Vincent L. (Marlene) Jackson and the late Kenneth Robert Jackson, Jr.; and grandfather of Justin Tyler and Jordan Taylor Jackson. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends may attend his memorial service at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Jon Deitloff Funeral Centre, 4389 Spring Grove Ave., Cincinnati, with Minister Andra Ward officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 8041 Hosbrook Road, Suite 422, Cincinnati, OH 45236.

Francis ‘Frank’ Sperling Marriott
Francis “Frank” Sperling Marriott, 77, formerly of Delaware, died Tuesday morning (Feb. 28, 2006) at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
He was born oct. 24, 1928 in Delaware to Francis M. Marriott and Dorothy (Sperling) Marriott. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in World War II. He graduated from Ohio State University College of Law and completed his undergraduate work at Ohio Wesleyan University, where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He practiced law with Marriott and Marriott in Delaware before joining the staff of Sen. John Bricker in Washington, D.C. He worked for NASA and retired from Westinghouse Electric, where he was a liaison between Westinghouse and the space agency. He was also area director and vice president of Westinghouse Electric in Sydney, Australia. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Delaware.
He is survived by three daughters, Anne (Todd) Schmitthenner of Atlanta, Lisa (Doug) Wright of Columbus and Joan Marriott of Columbus; and four grandchildren, Beth and John Wright and Andrew and Connor Michetti.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his second wife, JoAnn; and a sister, Connie Marriott.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, Bennett Brown Chapel, 92 N. Sandusky St., where services will be held at 5 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Oak Grove Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Delaware County Veterans Association.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Central Ohio Chapter, 3380 Tremont Road, Columbus, OH 43221.

Jeanette Abrams
Jeanette Abrams, 77, of Delaware, died late Tuesday evening (Feb. 28, 2006) at her residence. Arrangements will be announced by Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, Bennett Brown Chapel, Delaware.

Joe E. Driscoll
Joe E. Driscoll, 59 of Sunbury, died unexpectedly Monday morning (Feb. 27, 2006) at St. Ann’s Hospital, Westerville. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at Ohio 61, Sunbury. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, with the Rev. David Sizemore as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery with military graveside services provided by the Delaware County Veterans Association. Memorial contributions may be made to Smile Train.

William Warner Whiteside
William Warner Whiteside, 81, of Kingston, died Monday (March 27, 2006).
He was born in Ostrander on May 8, 1924. He graduated from Magnetic Springs High School in 1943 and served in the United States Navy during World War II from 1943-46 as a second class petty officer. He received the World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with one Bronze Star. He founded and operated Whiteside Ornamental Iron Co., and the Heart of Ohio Pool League in Columbus. He raced at Columbus Motor Speedway and surrounding tracks, enjoyed bowling and was an avid pool player.
He is survived by five children, Lori J. (David) Ehrenberg, Robin L. Whiteside, Christi A. (Joseph Yaney) Whiteside, Cindy D. (Randy Linton) Whiteside and Tod E. (Christie) Whiteside; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; his former wife, Shirley A. Lowe; one brother, Robert E. (Mary Lue) Whiteside; two sisters, Margaret (Paul R.) Anderson and Patty A. (James E.) Lathrop; one sister-in-law, Patricia L. Whiteside; a good friend and former son-in-law, Terry Brown; and his best friend, Elizabeth Tipton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James F. and Hildreth E. Whiteside; two brothers, Donald R. and James H. Whiteside; and one daughter, Leslie Shannon Whiteside.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3047 E. Dublin Granville Road, Columbus, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Timothy Crisafulli officiating. Burial will follow in Oakgrove Cemetery, Delaware.

Charles Edgar Wilkins
Charles Edgar Wilkins, 85, of Woodstock, died Monday (March 27, 2006) in Spring Meadows Nursing Home, Woodstock.
He was born May 2, 1920 in Mechanicsburg to Frank and Mae (Ferryman) Wilkins. He was a past commander of Donald Cannon American Legion Post 238 in Mechanicsburg, past city council member of Woodstock and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
He is survived by his children, Phil and Becky Wilkins of Stow, Rick and Melodi Wilkins of Woodstock, Steve and Kathleen Wilkins of Urbana, Tony and Ann Wilkins of Cable, and Marcia and Steve Barbeau of Sunbury; 13 grandchildren, Nicholas, Darcy, Beth, Morgan, Kacie, Julie, Leslie, Jimmy, Greg, Joe, Amy, Craig and Kevin; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary (McWilliams), whom he married May 14, 1939 in Covington, Ky.; one daughter, Susan Wilkins; a brother, Homer Wilkins; and two sisters, Phyllis Wilkins and Joanne Gartin.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Skillman, McDonald & Vernon Funeral Home in Mechanicsburg, where funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, with Father David Bline officiating. Burial will follow in Woodstock Cemetery. His grandsons will be pallbearers.

Kristian Danielle Moxley
Kristian Danielle Moxley, 16, died unexpectedly on Sunday (March 26, 2006). Arrangements have been entrusted to Diehl-Whittaker Funeral Service, 720 E. Long St. Columbus.

Isabelle B. Thompson
Isabelle B. Thompson, 96, of Mount Gilead, died today (March 29, 2006) at Woodside Village in Mount Gilead. Arrangements will be announced by DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury.
